Does anyone worry that BK will get "cold feet" over this plea and decide not to accept it before his sentencing? And then uses this whole situation to say that it has been prejudicial to his case. And use this as a delay tactic for his trial. While I do agree that a guaranteed verdict with no chance of appeals is the best outcome, there's something about this that doesn't feel right. I can't exactly put my finger on it, but my gut is telling me that we have several twists and turns ahead of us.

It is an interesting question- Could BK pull a bait and switch? Stand in court with him expected to say Guilty, and say something else?
Hmm, I think it depends- Does he have respect for the judge?
Does he fear the judge enough to wonder if the judge will ‘tear him a new one’ on live TV?
Would he simply enjoy the attention?

So far he has not made a spectacle of himself in the public eye. I think he will toe the line, play the part, hide his inner feelings on the inside when he may feel angry, out of control, and terrified.
He is a poser- and can blend into normal society well enough to be missed by a lot of people who should have noticed- but didn’t.

IMO

Well, Ol Bill is about to retire. I wouldn't be surprised if he wrote a book about this case and spilled all the Prosecution secrets.
Now that would be a gift to us all!

Any links on where this is streaming this morning?

I wonder if going over the possible methods of killing- lethal injection, firing squad, etc., brought home to BK that loss would really equal death. We know that some defendants actually choose death, so it is not always the deterrent that it would be for a typical person. (e.g. OK City bomber Timothy McVeigh- chose no appeals)
MOO he has found his niche in jail, its the Death Row prison condition that he decided to avoid.
MOO Also he wants to be the one who controls the information about the crime.

I have been following this case for 3 years and it has come to this? They are catering to him, he gets what he wants I am deeply saddened today. The justice system has failed everyone except for BK. MOO

I think the good Dr. R is capitalizing on her association with BK as much as possible. Her reaching out to BK's family after his arrest, staying in contact and now making the media circuit rounds.

A lot of publicity for her, which I think she's enjoying to be honest. The whole relationship with BK seems suspect to me. <shrug>

JMO
100% agree. I'm all for self promotion in a competitive market but given the timing and context it's like she's snatching at the microphone and attempting to make it about her. Not very classy imo.

I'm actually a bit worried about this. He does not have to sign it.

And I am afraid that he may be spooked now by all his supporters being so shocked.

No, I don't think so.

YES

I hope you are right.

Jury trial, death penalty or plea deal for LWOP is still no justice for those four beautiful lives. The families will never get closure. The only win is the risk of a hung jury or DP with all the appeals, off the table. However, the parents feel how they feel and no one is right or wrong. My heart breaks for them. I will probably miss the hearing, but I will certainly be praying for some sliver of peace for the families….BK’s family as well. Job well done by LE catching BK.
We will never forget Kaylee, Maddie, Xana or Ethan. ❤️

Yes, Death Row ain’t pretty. This 2020 article in the Texas Journal on Civil Liberties & Civil Right outlines the conditions in various states—quite dismal. I wonder if BK himself read it.

I think she has a book in the works. MOO
In one podcast interview, Ramsland claimed she was writing her memoir, and since teaching BK had been part of her life, she would include him in it. I figure he will be the center of her book now—if not the memoir, an additional book.

Bbm.
Snipped for focus.
Possible.

I haven't though much about how this has impacted his family.
At least they get to see him, and hear his voice, send and receive letters.

Imo-- he was fine with ending other's lives but too cowardly to face death himself ?
This crime has a better chance than some have had -- of ending up in execution.
Omo.
These killers appear to have no respect for the life of others but often show cowardice when they are faced with their own demise.

That's not really how this kind of thing goes. The judge isn't going to ask him his motive. They ask questions like "do you understand the penalties you're facing if you plead guilty?" "Has anyone threatened or coerced you into pleading guilty?" and then for the elements of the crime part it's going to be questions like "do you admit that you willfully caused the deaths of the victims?" and "do you admit that these acts were premeditated?" The court doesn't care about motive for the purposes of the plea deal.
But the hearing today is simply changing pleas. There will be no discussion of the crime. That will happen later at sentencing.

Hippler will likely make Kohberger admit publicly that he committed each murder and that he is pleading guilty without coercion.

I hope he requires BK to say enough during today’s hearing to convince the Probergers that their guy actually did it.

BK is starting to remind me of a not-so-intelligent and not-so-wealthy Leopold & Loeb, who kidnapped and murdered 14 year old Bobby Franks in 1924. A pair of students at University of Chicago, they wanted the perfect crime to show how smart they were. Loeb had always been a troublemaker, and when he fell in with Leopold, they were into all kinds and strains of crimes before the murder-- which wasn't "the perfect crime" after all, and they were caught and tried. Clarence Darrow submitted a guilty plea for them and managed to help them avoid the DP. Loeb was killed in prison, and Leopold continued scholarly pursuits to the extent available within prison, volunteering to be inoculated with malaria at one point for research on treatments.
Interesting that you compare BK to Leopold and Loeb, because they made the same kind of mistake.
Leopold left his eyeglasses behind at the crime scene, and did not realize it until Bobby’s body was found and the police collected the eyeglasses. The glasses turned out to have a unique hinge, which enabled LE to trace it to the only store that sold it and thereby identified Leopold.

This was 1924, no DNA etc., yet the same mistake as Bryan got them caught—accidentally leaving a clue at the crime scene that led back to the murderers.

And Leopold was an actual genius going by I.Q., not a wannabe like Bryan.

I suppose it’s part of the arrogance of those who feel they are superior.
