Cannot hear JA when he is not at podium. Objection was overruled.

  • #202
DCS does have a good point. Give em that one.

  • #203
I can't fathom the state being dumb enough to fall for a DT trap...

  • #204
Do you remember the question?

I do-ent.

  • #205
AAFS is NOT the determing factor of LEGAL utilization of scientific techniques!

  • #206
I am on CNN and the sound is terrible. Are all of them like this? TIA.

Does the ACS recognize the field of odor decomp. (secondary)

  • #207
Can't hear a thing from JA, this is annoying.

  • #208
I can only hear Sims, Logan, and HHJP. I can't hear Allen or the court reporter. Ugh.

  • #209
Sound is terrible!

Is DS trying to say that since the witness stated the acadamy does not recognize what this witness does, per se, then is she going for Dr. Vass not being acceptable?????

  • #210
odor identification secondary to human decomposition... is it recognized by the AAFS?

(rephrase)

objection

over ruled

there is no section that would recognize human decomp as a singular section/separate discipline but is within criminal... something.... and is discussed

  • #211
The nose does not lie!! :banghead:

  • #212
Does JA seem different today? Less agitated, I hope?

  • #213
DS: Does Am Acady of Forensic Science have a committee that recognizes odor identification of human decomp?
BL: There is no section that would recognize it as a separate discipline

DS: What are the problems with a new field with not many people doing it?
BL: that happens with any new technique, initially it is research technique, more adopt it, more come up with particular protocols,

  • #214
IT is NOT a seperate discipline!.....it is within the other scientific forums and discussed as such!....THAT's how the skill sets are developed!

  • #215
I don't believe any of Logan's testimony is going to sway HHJP's decision on Vass. He already admitted he did not have comparison experience last week, and HHJP has already said he would not let him testify if a jury was present as he is not an "expert" on the issue in question.

He's just humoring the DT at this point so they can't cry "bias".

  • #216
IMHO: to attack Dr. Vass' techniques

That's so sad because we know Dr. Vass' testimony was practically flawless. I understand the DT's notion to get the odor analysis tossed, but this line of testimony could go on fooorrreeevvveeerrrr.

Showing up a bit late here, but it doesn't looklike I missed too much. ICA doesn't look appealing today. The gray sweater/plaid shirt/new hair doesn't do much. As I see she's got her binder and pen out. Does it appear that JB is ignoring her today?

now DS trying to get something in on forensic toxicology...

it was objected to and sustained

  • #218
Oh JA got the Judge to rehear his objection and it was sustained. Well done.

  • #219
initially it is a research technique. then people make protocols, test it, that different labs can do recreate the same results... (hearing)

(my comments) again, we are speaking of the scientific method here. this is how the world works with science. there is accepted science they all have to agree on...this is not

UFO's here...where different people can have totally different outcomes when seeing the results of each "test".

  • #220
DS stop interupting...geesh.
