By the time he finished the 4th murder and that dog was barking crazy....I wonder if BK thought the cops were called.

I firmly believe BK was depleted/exhausted by the time he saw Dylan.
Or....he was running out of tme.
That and if he saw her, he might have thought she’d already had or was about to call the police, hence what I think contributed to him speeding away from the scene.

IMHOO

ETA-lol, jinx @Warwick7, or should I say- BAM!!

Something occurred to me. If the killer was heading out the back door, he was likely in a hurry. I don't know about anyone else, but I often take a second to register something, like he might have turned the corner into the kitchen before it registered that the door was cracked open. By then she would have closed and assuming she had a lock, locked the door, which he would have heard. Too late, now get out.

I also remember that she had moved to the second floor only recently, but that was several years back so I'll have to search for that. He may not have expected anyone in that room.

For the first time, the state is alleging that Kohberger’s phone was in fact turned off during the murder window. This is a departure from the AA, in which they said it was not communicating, or something to that effect.

Well imagine that. The state knows that the phone was turned off and cellular analysis cannot show where BK was at the time of the murders. And to anyone who still insists that phones can be tracked while turned off, perhaps AT may need your services, as it looks like Sy's may not be worth much now. JMO

Where is @Warwick7 when we need a 'BAM'??

Except....just six short hours later, fully invigorated.

I wonder what his previous selfie looks like. I say with trepidation.

Geez, who knew that a phone turned off could be as damning as a phone turned on? Clearly not BK...

Didn't we just learn BK bought murder items from Amazon?
That he did not have any moon and stars photos from the murder night? His photos were from other nights?
Didn't we just learn the defense refuses to dispute that the DNA on the sheath is in fact BK's DNA?
Didn't we find out BK took a phone photo of his busy eyebrows after bushy eyebrows came out in the media?
Didn't we just find out BK's phone was actually turned off?
Didn't we just find out that even Sy the cell phone expert cannot overcome a phone that is turned off?

Wow. He needs to plea or he will sit on death row and maybe be shot to death.

So the thing that's the same as the one thing and is another thing but isn't really a thing at all.

No amount of discovery buried in the terabytes was going to give BK a magic alibi. Oh, how AT tried. She firm up the alibi once the State turned over discovery she couldn't quite name, she tried to sail this toothpick; BK couldn't be "over there" because his phone was "over here" somewhere. Guess she thought maybe the judge never heard of criminals turning off their phones.

Sy Ray's theoretical exculpatory data points just got punted.

I mean I knew BK didn't have an alibi -- or she'd have lead with it -- but everyone should take note of how both AT and Sy Ray represented themselves in front of the judge in a hearing she wanted streamed.

So now we're supposed to believe BK was driving around in his Elantra in all the places where there are no cameras, with his phone intentionally turned off and that's his alibi? While a different Elantra looped around 1122 and somehow delivered BK's sheath, at the scene of a quadruple murder? In the hands of someone who looks like the defendant?

Must I suspend all reason?

Suddenly BK has an evil twin who framed him?

I actually saw that episode on Criminal Minds, maccabre storyline with twins Wallace and Jesse Hines, separated young.

But I'm pretty sure BK's mom would remember a thing like that, a second baby.

It's worth noting -- in that episode, both twins were played by the same actor.

And that gets us a little closer to the truth. BK and his 5 octillion to 1 imaginary twin are one and the same.

Alibi falls flat.
Sy falls flat.
No guilty? Flat chance.

Yup. Plea deals are often made days before a trial. I do think it is a small possibility.

I have been thinking for a while that it is very likely.

I don't think he's going to take a plea. He's going to see this through

I agree. Even though he is surely smart enough to know he isn't going to walk free, I think BK is looking forward to his time in the limelight. Even if he never takes the stand, and I feel certain that he will not, he will still be seen, and he will be recognized by some who never gave him a glance, and he will probably have groupies, and he will be a lead story on the nightly news for three months. The world will know his name and face, and he will be talked about in the same breath as some of his idols. He will be infamous, which is as good, for him, as famous, maybe better. No way he would plead guilty and miss out on all of this. At worst, even when he is convicted on all counts, there is a reasonable chance that he will end up with LWOP anyway, as some juror may be unable to pull the proverbial trigger on a firing squad, so he may as well make the state work for it, and if he does happen to get the DP, well, that can be tied up for years in appeals. Bring it on, he is ready for his close-up, eyebrows and all. JMO

He has nothing better to do than take this all the way through trial and into the realm of appeals beyond that.

He'd probably give that a thumbs up. Cheap entertainment for him. Sinister.

Most guilty defendants are absolutely terrified of the DP when it is up close and personal right before a trial with overwhelming evidence against them. The DP attorney's biggest job is to keep their client off of DR.

Most.

BK might be a whole different kind of bird.

And not a very nice bird at that.

Or he might have thought about the impact of his plans on his victims, their families and his own and reconsidered.

No one can look at all the spaghetti thrown on the wall lying pathetically on the floor and think this is going to come out well for the accused. It almost makes it feel like suicide by trial conviction.
