And he definitely had the dexterity to place individual personal items in individual plastic bags???
It's futile and AT is not dumb, she is throwing everything that isn't bolted down out of the wagon.

weirdly enough its actually not very easy to stab someone especially with a big blade. if the blade is really thin and has a very sharp point its easy enough.if its a big blade you need to have the point in exactly the right place. sorry for the grim details. i'm thinking the defence might state he does not have the dexterity and strength of grip to be able to do as is alleged. the prosecutions counter should simply be that plunging a knife downward from above onto a prone person is not difficult and does not need great strength or dexterity. yeh really sorry for the grim details. next bit is extra grim but with two people in the room and one more or less waiting for him to move onto her means she probably wasn't prone when attacked. we also have the indication that ethan was standing when attacked, so whats the likelihood that someone built like ethan was able to be subdued by a slight kohberger?

this is all hypothetical and me just trying to put myself in the defences shoes. sorry for the grim details.

All the info and reviews on the USMC Ka-bar knife that I've read (my search history is fun as are the ads that get suggested to me) pretty much align with this one:

re: the tip
"The clip point itself is not sharp but it is beveled for easier penetration in tactical situations.
A clip point has its advantages and disadvantages:
--Very efficient penetration ability
--Excellent slicer"

the efficiency of the blade:
"I butcher plenty of chickens every year. Without getting into the gorry details, I’ll just say this knife is the most efficient “slicer” I own. A single pass from the KA-BAR’s 7-inch blade does very clean work of a dirty job."

I've already posted YT videos I found where people use it to cut through multiple water filled gallon jugs in one sweep. And there are plenty of YT videos where people demonstrate using it to stab and/or slice with slabs of meat/hunks of pig carcass (not going to go back to find those links because I really don't want that populating my feeds again).

BK had a sharpener, so you know he made sure his was as sharp as could be. Even an uncoordinated swing/slash with an extremely sharp 7" blade is going cause severe damage. He wasn't a 90 lb weakling with no upper body strength. And poor fine motor skills isn't the same as having poor grip strength.

What indication do we have that Ethan was standing because I've seen just as many indications that he never got out of the bed? And on the off chance that Ethan had gotten up, all indications were that he would have been waking from sleep as well as having been drinking a lot the evening before. BK would be fully awake, not drunk or dealing with the after effects of alcohol, and would have the element of surprise+adrenalin on his side.

Agreed. Throw everything on the wall to see what sticks. So far, nothing.

"Compulsive shower curtain changing"? BK is just plain weird. Probably a lot of other fancy psychological terms. But, since there were so many terms on the list we can't use....this will suffice.

Probably to be stricken tomorrow. She is probably reading our comments religiously each night.
Anyone change a shower curtain or liner lately? Those rings are a pain to change and require fine motor skills IMO, whether plastic or metal. IMO.

BK, incapable? Dont think so.

At the time, that BK allegedly murdered Kaylee, Madison, Xana and Ethan, he’s a Ph.D student in Criminology at WSU, undergraduate degrees in psychology and cloud-based forensics, in addition, fall of 2022, he wrote an essay when he applied for an internship w/the Pullman Police Dept. In that essay he wrote having an interest in assisting rural LE agencies w/how to better collect and analyze technological data in public safety operations.

Not to forget, BK was fired as a teaching assistant at WSU because of disturbing behavior w/female students.

Slaughter of people and fillet a fish totally an apple and orange comparison. jmo

Not to mention that BK bought the knife and it seems unlikely a person buys a knife like that with the intention of using it as a paperweight.
He had to have known that if caught, his purchase records would be requested and received. That tells me he had a very high conviction that he would not be caught. Boy was he wrong, thank goodness.

Don't use rings. There are a lot of shower curtain styles. Some easier to use than others. Here's one such:

Easy breezy...

Mine are similar to this, but fancier and heavier. Plus going through a liner and curtain. My rod is wider as well. I'm gonna look for something like this. I wonder what he had in his shower?

Something else I wondered about. BK must have ditched his knife sharpener as well, I don't recall seeing it on the lists of items retrieved during the searches.

Well but wasn't he fired from the job for bad dexterity?

Respectfully, maybe the weapon chosen was to take into account any perceived abilities, or lack thereof?

And I am not conceding that the defendant has any limitations. In large part because much evidence is still under seal IIUC. And there is a gag order in place and the trial has not commenced. MOO

Was buried in the attachments to a filing that was made public yesterday.

https://coi.isc.idaho.gov/docs/CR01...+to+MIL+RE+Self+Authentication+of+Records.pdf

Buried at the end of this one, between Certificates of Authenticity, receipts, etc....is a college assignment from a class at Desales (CJ 361 Forensic Investigation) of BK's titled "crime scene scenario final." Which is a detailed point by point listing of the proper step and protocol he would take as an officer/forensics officer at hypothetical murder of a woman in her trailer WITH A KNIFE (pages 34-45 of the above pdf).

Here's some bits that felt....oh....I don't know....relevant....

"Equipment I will have on hand for the investigation....

Protective clothing: boot covers, eyewear, fiber free overalls, face masks, hair nets, gowns, and anything that will prevent me from contaminating the scene with things I bring in with me. (pg 35)"

pg 36 has a detailed description of protective clothing/equipment to avoid contamination with outside DNA.

I like to see that the State is now doing the same thing the D has been trying to do-----asking for suppression of certain terms and negative suggestions used in front of the jury.

The D wants to suppress terms such as 'Psychopath' and 'Bushy eyebrows.'

The State wants to suppress comments like ' The prosecutor wants to kill our client. 'The state wants to murder My Kohberger'

I would have thought that the defence wouldn't be allowed to say something so inflammatory in a court of law in a state that has the death penalty as an unwritten, ot maybe even written, rule? Surely in a death penalty case the prosecution shouldn't have to specifically produce a motion against it?

I would expect wording such as "the state wants to put my client to death" as a possible way around it, but I can't imagine a judge would let council call the DP murder in any circumstance.

I've given myself something to ponder now lol.

Ahhh, but there is. The iPhone keeps great logs that are accessible with the software LE uses to get info from the phone. Cellebrite is an extremely powerful tool and pictures accessed would be logged. MOO.

I've previously stated that I believe (JMO) they quite a bit of info from his phone.

WOW!!! Very cool!!

Count me among those who think that knife and sharpener were stowed somewhere they could be retrieved when the time was right.

In the Defendants Reply to States Response to MiL9 Re: Excluding Amazon Click Activity, the defense really wants that KaBar knife purchase from Amazon to not find its way to a jury.

Of note, Mr. Kohberger sought to suppress the Amazon search warrants as overbroad and general warrants because of the extensive amount of records requested. (Motion and Memorandum to Suppress Re: Amazon, filed 11/14/2024.) This Court denied that motion (Orders on Defendants’ Motions to Suppress Re: AT&T, etc., filed 2/19/2025.) Now that the State has disclosed expert opinions, it is clearer that the State intends to use incomplete data and mislead the jury (Howell Dec., ¶¶III(B), IV(B), V(B), VII(A), VIII(A)(1)-(4).) For example, the State ignores that the Amazon records reflect a household of users on the Amazon account at issue and a long list of items purchased over a period of several months for a road trip or hiking, to include: a roadside repair kit, a tire inflator, a backpack, and bear spray.

Seems that the easiest way to counteract the state's "incomplete data" would be to have the buyer of the items for the road trip, or hiking, including roasdside repair kit, tire inflator, backpack and bear spray and, apparently, a KaBar knife to just produce them. Show them to us. Settled . JMO

ah thats interesting and graphic. I was literally thinking of its penetration ability and yes its actually not so easy to penetrate the skin with a knife at least not with a big fat blade. the slicing is a different equation as you have seven inches of chance to inflict damage whereas the point has to be wielded with enough force and momentum to go deep enough. weirdly enough a study has been done.

"the tip radius of the weapon, minimal force required for penetration, the sex of the assailant and whether the force required for penetration is greater than that that can be generated by a person stabbing. This allows for the use of an evidence-based two-tier scale to suggest the force required."

Wasn't ethan found by the door and is assumed to be the bang heard ? suggesting he was on his feet wasn't that heard by the witness or was it that noise heard on the camera? didn't know he was inebriated either. I did think he was found by the door and thus made sense that he was the bang heard.

I spose allot of this is actually irrelevant and will achieve nothing if used as part of the defence, there is wayyy too much evidence to prove he was more than capable of it. you are correct as well, if he is sober and has the element of surprise which he did then he has all advantages needed.

didn't know he was a fish filleter, or into boxing, etc etc

the defences points on that being a shared amazon account is not really relevant. I mean obviously we are going to find out if the knife belonged to someone else using that account wouldn't we? did any of them come forward and say that knifes mine? no they baddy well didn't so its completely irrelevant isnt it?

Yeah, but there's degrees. I'd imagine most of us couldn't filet a fish well or neatly enough for a job, but wouldn't find it beyond us physically to stab someone.

MOO

You know what surprises me. I’d define myself as a person with good fine but bad gross motor skills. It is more visiospatial. To cope, I try to do things slowly (never drive a mile above the speed limit, never tailgate to allow space and time to react). For someone to kill, as they write, in 8 minutes, and cleanly, a person has to have good gross motor skills. I’d think it is less about filleting and more about, turn right, now to another room, step over, get out. So the question is, did BK possess such qualities? Was he good at PE, does he have good right-left discrimination? What about mental discipline? I honestly have no idea.
