That's got nothing to do with the charges in Idaho. The felony burglary charge is bundled together with the murder charges, and relates to his entering into the home to commit a felony.Did he not steal his sister's phone or something in younger life when he was using drugs? Allegedly? JMO

Bryan Kohberger has autism. His attorneys say the diagnosis should remove death penalty
His attorneys argued that there is an “unconscionable risk” he’ll be executed because of a neurological disorder rather than culpability.www.yahoo.com
Kohberger’s disorder has a “significant impact” on his life, according to a comprehensive neurological evaluation conducted by Rachel Orr, a New Hampshire-based neuropsychologist.
The filing said that Kohberger exhibits “all the core diagnostic features” of autism, such as lifelong issues interacting with people. This includes a diminished ability to understand people’s reactions and difficulty identifying the emotional or mental state of others or how to respond appropriately.
Regarding Kohberger, Taylor said he displays “extremely” rigid thinking, lingers on specific topics, processes information on a “piece-meal basis,” and struggles to plan ahead, which affects their attorney-client relationship and ability to prepare for trial.
He also “demonstrates little insight into his own behaviors and emotions,” she added.
“No matter how helpful Mr. Kohberger may wish to be, it is simply not possible for him to aid counsel in a way that someone without the deficits accompanying autism spectrum disorder would be able to,” Taylor wrote.
Kohberger’s speech is “awkward,” Taylor said. Orr said that his tone and cadence are abnormal, his interactions lack fluidity, and “his language is often overinclusive, disorganized, highly repetitive, and oddly formal,” according to the filing.
He’s easily distracted by sounds or activity, often needs questions repeated and uses abrupt matter-of-fact phrases that could be considered rude, the filings said. He also has exhibited compulsions around hand-washing and other cleaning behaviors since childhood.
“These symptoms of Mr. Kohberger’s autism spectrum disorder will alienate him from the jury and significantly hamper his ability to make a persuasive showing of innocence or of mitigation,” Taylor said.
I realize the comment about why he wore Vans may have been facetious, but as a shoe horse I have several pairs of Vans. I’m a middle aged woman who can tie her own shoes. Anyway, I think all the talk about ASD is futile. I think BK is just a creepy, awkward, loser, murderer. MooI wear Skechers Slip-ins, but I promise I can tie my shoe-laces. I just can no longer reach my feet to do it! I do think that Vans are popular shoes, mostly with younger, skater types perhaps, but they are basically a comfortable shoe for everyday wear too. I do think BK did wear Vans, because although some are, many are not lace-ups. And the bloody shoe print at King Road house had a waffle-pattern sole resembling that of a Vans sneaker. JMO
ETA...added comment about Vans.
If the prosecution can show he has a longstanding interest in video games, say World of Warcraft, or publishers/platforms like Activision Blizzard, Electronic Arts, and Battlenet, then the jury will see straight through it, IMO.Oh, boy, if AT opens the door to BK's fine motor skills...

where it says he has been diagnosed with ASD at all, much less where he is on the spectrum? Is there something in written form from a person qualified to make that diagnoses that I haven't seen? If anyone knows of it, point me in that direction, please and thank you. I'd like to read it if it is available.
All of the discussion about "ASD" and BK, while interesting, really has no merit in the case, INMO. He is obviously capable of planning to commit a crime, as evidenced by his independent living skills. He doesn't live at home with Mama.
As for any merit a diagnosis makes during the penalty phase is also irrelevant to me, he is obviously cognizant of his behavior, and does not present as "incompetent" by any scale. INMO.
So, what is the point his defense is trying to make here?! Nothing. Just throwing out stuff randomly. Because they literally have nothing else.
I can't find this filing from the Prosecutors that says he HAS a diagnosis, though. I realize this article says there is such a thing, but I am unable to find it. I must be searching on the wrong words. I might have better luck on my computer.. Again, if anyone can point me to this, or any confirmation of an official diagnosis, please and thank you.Rsbm
Prosecutors previously addressed Kohberger’s autism diagnosis in a filing, per NBC News, during which they argued his diagnosis is with the least severe form of autism, which comes “without accompanying intellectual or language impairment" and that he has failed to show his diagnosis "would in any way make him less culpable for murder."
They are trying to save him from the DP. Autism is all they seem to have and his is a mild case.
I'm confused. Neither link is a quote from a comprehensive neurological evaluation for BK.![]()
Bryan Kohberger’s Lawyers Address His Autism Diagnosis at Idaho Murder Trial
Bryan Kohberger’s legal team addressed how his diagnosis with autism may influence a jury as part of an attempt to get the death penalty taken off the table if he’s found guilty.www.eonline.com
You won't see the medical record, just that the court says he was diagnosed.
Meanwhile, Kohberger’s defense team previously claimed his diagnosis could explain why he was allegedly wearing gloves and cleaning on the night of his arrest in December 2022.
"The State asserts that this demonstrates that he had consciousness of guilt and was trying either to hide his DNA or engage in the cleaning of his car," Kohberger's attorney wrote in docs obtained by NBC News and viewed by E! News in March. "This is highly prejudicial and misleading. Mr. Kohberger frequently wears gloves to avoid germs on surfaces."

And I am not really sure he even has Autism. People can be weird, without a diagnosis of "Autism". And that doesn't exempt someone from the death penalty.

Not unlike the Sy Ray sleight of handffidavit, I think AT is doing something shifty with this expert.I'm confused. Neither link is a quote from a comprehensive neurological evaluation for BK.
