Lends itself to getting lost. And needing his GPS to get back home.

I'm surprised he didn't "accidentally" break his phone or delete his history...

Einstein-of-crime didn't think of everything.

This is probably where that recovery email information comes into play huh?

It's interesting to me that it seems like he tried to be SO meticulous and careful about some things but then he also did drop his knife sheath directly at the crime scene. genuinely baffling.

I’ve wondered that too.
The only difference I see would be that, in the beginning, Bundy lured young women away, using his charisma and counting on their empathy and BK would never have been able to pull that off.
In the end, at FSU, Bundy entered the sorority house in the middle of the night and brutally killed as many students as he could in his up close and personal way. BK could have been following that plan.
If BK didn't follow one of the waitresses home, perhaps he started casing the neighborhood for actual sorority housing and stumbled upon 1122. He may have fixated on it, studying the comings and goings. He may have determined that two roommates moved out, missed seeing the a basement roommate moved up a room, completely missed that KG had returned.

If he thought he was entering 1122 with two roommates on the lowest level, only XK's room occupied on the middle level (and away from the slider and staircase to the top level) and only one roommate on the top floor, he would have had every confidence IMO he could murder one victim in virtual silence, escape unnoticed, and due to his careful planning, subvert transference.

He was fixing to get away with it.

I didn't think about it like that.

Dec 2021 to Jan 2022 He applied to WSU.

Jan 10th He buys black balaclava.

Feb1st to Mar15th He is ccepted by WSU and applied to PPD.

March 20th-30th He buys Ka-Bar, sheath and sharpener.

April 1st Emails suggest Kohberger was one of four candidates being considered.
At the time of the emails, Kohberger was finishing his Master's degree program at Desales University in his home state of Pennsylvania. He subsequently moved to Pullman, Wash.

April 12th final interview with PPD

July 9th to Nov 7th between 10pm and 4am He was within 100 meters 23 times of that house.

In M00 does it look like going to Washington was all all an elaborate plan to murder someone?
This is nuts...
I had to type it out to see it for myself...

For me, this is the only thing that the defense can hammer away at-no blood or victim DNA was found in his car.
I would love to know if any DNA was there, other than his. Was his Dad’s still there, from the drive back to PA, or was that gone too? What can be detected in a car that was cleaned six ways till Sunday?
Would be interesting to know, especially if you are looking at it from a lack of ANY DNA = a evidence finding.

One point of clarification, about BK finishing his Master's program -- isn't it true that he kind of didn't? Didn't complete his thesis -- in fact, didn't have any data, as I recall -- but was moved forward to graduate anyway. I wonder if the university is looking into his diploma. Wondering if BK, staring intently, provided a convincing snowjob -- couldn't complete his work because they don't have crosswalks where he grew up, couldn't complete his work because all q8 of his grandparents died, couldn't complete his work because no felons contacted him, couldn't complete his work because he couldn't get a prison research pass without notice, couldn't complete his work because it was bogus from the get-go -- he wasn't interested in how felons chose their victims or what evidence snagged them -- he was fascinated with his own burgeoning morbid fantasy, the practice and study of his own criminal psychology. Already accepted into the PhD program at WSU, did BK bluff his way into receiving his Master's? Seems to me he fully intended to complete his thesis in the field. 1122 was his project.

Sick.

The 100 m, 300 ft is important because there is nothing else to visit right there. Apartments and houses and neighbors no shopping, no reason to be going to a frat across the road and it is not far enough that you are actually in the arboretum running.

A graduate student from Pullman, WA has zero business in this area of Moscow, ID. It's loud, very close to UI, and full of undergrads coming and going. You can manufacture an idea why he would be on UI campus (not really he had everything he needed and more at WSU) but not this close to the house. JMOO

As you are a local in Moscow I believe you when you assess that there isn't many options in that area for an excuse to even be in that area. Especially at 1:00am .... 2:00am.....3:00am......etc

Wouldn't that be something?! A car so clean there was no transfer of DNA from even known passengers. Absence of evidence where there'd the expectation of evidence is evidence....

Who expects a 2015 Elantra to be pristine? No offense to Hyundai but it's not exactly a show car.

No doubt AT wants to show that BK is just always cleaning. If he's not driving around looking at stars, he's cleaning cleaning cleaning. Nothing unusual here. Gloved up, just a natural clean freak.

Maybe so. Still, it's suspicious as heck.

Up in the middle of the night, while home for Christmas (not a 19 year old home on break, but a 28 year old man), he'd found what while everyone sleeps? AT says he was wearing gloves because he was cleaning the bathroom. As one does.

If anything, he was playing goldfish funeral with flushable evidence.

TOTALLY agree.....

The defense intends to call Brent Turvey to argue that multiple offenders were responsible for the murders. Let’s just say that he’s not exactly the most reliable witness, as he will testify to anything you want him to.

He likely struck KG with his fist or the butt of the knife, which would explain the differing injuries.

And of course there was no cleaning.

Say what?

AT actually said this? That the reason BK was wearing gloves, sorting garbage at 1:00am is because he was cleaning a bathroom?

This just makes it worse. Simply say he has OCD. All these weird excuses or arguments in her Motions are getting shut down. Jury rolling their eyes. Yes, if we are, they are.

That’s where Bundy started.

I just can’t stop thinking that in some morbid way he was trying to reenact Bundy’s reign of terror but make it his own.

I can be way off in this but a lot of planning went into these murders. Months of planning.

I had that thought when his return trip choice was through Colorado

Respectfully, I’m sticking with that was a planned detour. He’d looped down that way before & only a fool would take county roads trying to haul tail from a murder scene. He was dumb with some things but he was quite thorough for a supposed first timer.

Doesn’t matter much anyway, as he won’t speak to that sort of thing, at least not before or during the trial. Those are the kinds of details which end up bugging me in the end.

Not common at all, but some Master’s programs allow a comprehensive research project/study under the direction of your faculty advisor. Findings and conclusions should be in a written report, but it’s a different from a thesis. Not sure if BK had this option.

Yeah this is such an important point and one that imo some conveniently ignore when they claim BK could not have done it because apparently no victim blood was IDed from the car.. .

That six week lead BK had for evidence disposal cannot be over over emphasised. An excessive cleaning compulsion would have been his best friend when it came to scrubbing out his car. I think it's possible he began that cleaning job (just to be extra sure even if he pre-prepped seats with plastic etc) the evening of Sun Nov 13th when he switched off ( moo) his phone in the vicinity of Johnson WA ( per PCA).

The area is a vast rural back water. He disconnects from the network on dark ( 5.30pm). We don't know what his cash purchase was earlier that day at Albertsons in Lewington ( or was it Clarkson?) but moo my imagination sees him obsessively checking his seats by torchlight and doing some scrubbing, away from prying eyes, maybe with products purchased that very day. And maybe also disposing of evidence such as clothing and possibly the knife. Jmo

o.m.g. this makes so much sense to me. On my timeline I have a huge question mark by the 5:36 to 8:30 where he shut off his phone again. And now we know he was buying everything with cash he could have very well bought cleaning supplies, even a black light (which I argued against before). I hoped we would track him by his debit card. But hopefully he took his phone everywhere.

Edit: I want to edit my comment by posting a timestamp picture we have at the beginning of each thread in a link. I took a screenshot of it. Notice it never tells us where #10 is located.

I can easily imagine BK, the doctor of criminology wannabe that he is, literally keeping a 'scorecard' somewhere, recording all of his 'wins' pertaining to these murders, highlighting the times he outsmarted the authorities, versus the state's 'wins'. I can almost see 'no DNA or blood evidence found in car', in bold letters under his 'wins'.

I wonder how many times, lately, he has crumpled that list up and thrown it in the trash... JMO

Makes his thumbs-up selfie even worse as he was likely congratulating himself not only on murders well done (in his opinion) but a good/thorough cleaning job done (again, in his opinion).

More knife detail. This (or verrry similar) model of Ka-Bar USMC sheath was found in the bed.
Blade Length, 7.0 inches. Overall Length, 11.875 inches

Ka-Bar Knives, developed for US Military during WW II:
"... Marine Corps issued Ka-Bar fighting utility knife..."
"...Marines were taught to use their new knife primarily as a slashing weapon in the initial phases of hand-to-hand combat."
"... Besides use as a fighting knife, the Ka-Bar has proved useful as a utility knife, for opening cans, digging trenches, and cutting wood, roots, wire, and cable..." *

Ka-Bar knives avail. for civilian purchase thru retailers are the same as mil. issue IIUC .

The monster who stabbed & killed these four was armed w a knife capable of opening cans.
Grrr.

"He was not cleaning his car on the night of his arrest, he was awake at night, which is typical for him, and he was cleaning his bathroom."

Sure he was.

I was using 'thesis' generically but I was picturing it as a "comprehensive research project/study" and it's my contention thst he did not complete it, it wasn't comprehensive and IMO he may have sold some serious balderash to get his  unfinished project stamped for graduation.

If his traffic stops are any indication, he delivered a pile of pedantic hooey.
