According to the program's website, "All MCJ students complete a master project seminar course that can be satisfied through a master’s thesis, externship in a relevant agency, or an in-depth policy paper." We know BK claimed to be doing research for a thesis (the survey he purportedly shared on social media), whereas we have not (as far as I know) heard anything about him doing an externship in grad school or seen any type of "policy paper" published under his name, so I think the thesis is most likely the option he chose. I just don't understand why I can't find it on any online repository!

I am wondering if they just let him through because of special circumstances. He seems to be good at gaining those. Or, possibly the document would have been pulled by the FBI early on so we could all not speculate like we want to, deeply. JMOO

Yes. He committed a murders that could have remained unsolved even 15 years ago.
The prevalence of home security cameras picking up street activity, the ability of police labs to process unbelievably small samples of bio material, familial DNA research, permanent records of purchases, cell tower CAST reporting and GPS phone location

I agree and very true.

There have been studies to quantify it: that big drop in the frequency of serial killers today is a result of them being caught much earlier in their "career" due to these forensic tools.

An it has also deterred others who might have thought about it because of fear of being caught.

My wild guess is that BK wanted to be a serial killer known as the knife sheath killer. that this was his calling card. And that he might not strike again for years. Problem for him was he wasn't as smart and/or careful as he should have been and got caught first thing.

I'm telling ya -- I think he was purporting to do a project, he just didn't do it, and was rubber stamped, after defending it orally.

I can't help but to wonder if heads are rolling now because what a bad look that'll be (for the college) if he didn't do the work.

I do think he met the requirements of the Master's Degree at De Sales. I suspect he wrote a theoretical research paper and based on that (a kind of master's thesis), along with the design of a research survey, particularly one that received approval by the university's Institutional Review Board, that he would have met the requirements of his program. That is very common for a Master's degree. I don't think there was anything unusual here.

That makes sense.

One more brief note about tomorrow's Dateline. I'm told the level of detail will blow us away - we'll feel like we are "inside his head at specific times".

Ugh, hard pass.

The trial is going to be hard enough. I don't need to tourist in his brain beforehand.

I'm wondering how the producers are able to disclose all this information? A lot of it may have come from Judge Hippler unsealing the Motions and Court Docs, and of course they will have their well placed 'sources'. Although much of what they claimed in earlier segments turned out to be correct.

I bet AT & CO. are not happy about this at all. Awwww.

The gag order doesn’t apply to the media, and I can’t imagine the prosecution, or investigators would violate it.

The court and the defense won’t be happy with this though.

My guess is that they found a former detective or something who retained this stuff.

Meanwhile, phone data from Kohberger’s phone and in the possession of law enforcement include internet searches in the weeks before and after the killings on serial killer Ted Bundy and searches for 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 with the words “forced,” “passed out,” “drugged,” and “sleeping.”

And there it is…just as I suspected.

I have plans tomorrow night, and I’m not happy about it. I’m expecting a running recap to read when I get home.

all for a tv show too!!! NBC should be ASHAMED.

Wow, a lot of new info just in the one brief piece! One thing that struck me was that I have always thought BK only wanted to kill. After hearing of those searches on his phone, I am now wondering if perhaps he did have other plans for Maddie, before killing her, and Kaylee's presence thwarted those plans, and may have

ETA: The more I think about it, the less likely I am to believe that he would have done anything that knowingly could have left his DNA behind, so maybe that was just sick fantasy, and he got off on looking at sleeping or otherwise vulnerable women, knowing that he COULD have his way with them. JMO
I’m way behind because I’m in Florida caring for both of my elderly and very ill parents, but this caught my eye.

I do think that if BK had fantasized about getting to Maddie, it quite likely could have involved a “before” scenario, followed by the murder. That plan was wrecked by having KG in the same bed.

IMO if BK came prepared with gloves, coveralls, etc., he may well have brought a condom to prevent identification through semen.

Truly, of course, I have no idea what he was planning. Much like Libby and Abby, there is only one soul on earth who knows the true motivation.

I have Dateline set to tape, so when I’m back home I’ll have the chance to find out the latest.

the thing about Bundy was that he fit in..he was tan, attractive, wore clothes well. played tennis and had personal charm and some charisma. none of these attributes can be applied to BK. it's like Lurch wanting to play James Bond. mOO
Great analogy.

Yes, I think in the case of Ted Bundy, he was conventionally attractive and that played a key part in his ability to lure women into his car (IIRC, he had a fake cast on so they’d open his car door for him). At first glance he didn’t appear to be some kind of creep, whereas Bryan’s affect was off-putting.

I’m still unsure if BK’s intent was a one-and-done, and circumstances led to a collateral mass murder. I’m up for grabs if he would’ve eventually become a serial killer akin to Bundy.

I suppose if he’d gotten away with it he might’ve wanted to repeat the thrill. Unless this was a very specific stalking, most likely of Maddie.

Just guessing.

Remember the other day and SG gave that interview? He made a comment about dashcams also picking up BK.

Remember his alibi was ‘I was driving around’. I can’t believe that was acceptable.
