Well apparently there was a good fight going on in Xanas room, we know that, for one reason from what Kaylee's father said. He said something like there was a hell of a battle going on in there. And I doubt she fought him off with just her fists, considering he had a knife. So she must have had something to help her out. A golf club would make sense because of its length and strength. But it could be some other object I guess. Also I don't think that we were privy to every object removed from the house or from what part of the house they took them from. There could have been golf clubs in the Jeep, and maybe another golf club or two in the bedroom. Maybe ones he didn't use as often. So I don't think we can make assumptions like that, like that we know which room each piece of evidence was taken from.
I agree that we shouldn’t assume there were no golf clubs in Xana’s room.
Golf clubs make poor weapons, though, at least according to
this article, which is a copy of the syndicated article by author Ed Combs that first appeared in USCCA’s Concealed Carry Magazine Volume 11, Issue 8 November/December 2014 under the title, “Choose Wisely: Sporting Goods Need Not Apply.”
Also, Ethan’s mom said his golf clubs were a nice set. Avid golfer Ethan might have been more likely to keep an old baseball bat next to his bed for self defense than one of his treasured clubs.
Still, Xana may have tried to use a golf club or other improvised weapon to defend herself. However, her fingers were almost sliced off, so it looks like she was ultimately forced to use just her hands to ward off the blows of BK’s knife. Perhaps she had no time to grab a weapon, or it was too dark in her room to find one.
Xana was an athlete—according to her
obituary, a talented gymnast as a child, and a volleyball, track and soccer player until she graduated high school in 2020—so she may have been agile and strong enough to escape some of BK’s knife blows.
I imagine her bravely jumping onto BK’s back when he went for Ethan, until BK (sorry for the image) slammed her backwards against the wall to get her off.
This, of course, is pure speculation. Sadly, I expect you are right, katydid23, that Xana would have been too injured immediately to do any fighting. I like the idea, though, of Xana defending the love of her short life. She, after all, was the one who was wide awake when disaster struck.
IMO
