Hot Prowling
He was what?
@Milkyjoe
The term's meaning & definition varies.
The acts of "Hot prowl" may be included in definition of the broader "home invasions" type offenses, referring to an individual entering a home illegally, anticipating that others will be there, often w plans to commit violence.

One source w gen info:
"A home invasion, also called a hot prowl burglary, is a sub-type of burglary (or in some jurisdictions, a separately defined crime) in which an offender unlawfully enters into a building residence while the occupants are inside.[1] The overarching intent of a hot prowl burglary can be theft, robbery, assault, sexual assault, murder, kidnapping, or another crime, either by stealth or direct force.[2][3][4] Hot prowl burglaries are considered especially dangerous by law enforcement because of the potential for a violent confrontation between the occupant and the offender.[5]"
^ from Home invasion - Wikipedia.

Some people may enter homes known to be occupied but go in during sleep hours simply to commit thefts of items to resell. Others enter homes that way to watch ppl sleeping, sometimes to have "material" for personal sexual fantasies (solo) either there or to use later. And other reasons.

Re BK
A couple of BK's high school schoolmates commented that BK was addicted to heroin. Here on WS posts in previous threads discussed how BK could afford an pricey addiction.
Hence the reference to BK hot prowling.
AFIK, BK doing hot prowling not known to be fact. Re drug addiction, IDK to be fact either.

Hoping others will post to expand or clarify re BK. Or refer to previous specific posts on the topic.

I always interpreted hot prowling as the act of going into an occupied home with the goal of being undetected. Which is the opposite of my interpretation of a “home invasion”. When someone violently breaks into a home typically confronting and needing something from the occupant. MOO. The Wikipedia is probably more accurate.

Also, isn’t heroine one of the cheaper addictions? I always interpreted it as (IMO) a pricey addiction like prescription opioids eventually turns it my the much cheaper and easily accessible heroine.

Thanks for sharing. Always enjoy reading your posts.

Look, if this guy is guilty I want a life sentence.

Does anyone actually think that he will not be in a "form of death row" if not on death row?

With LWOP I believe that so many inmates in the general population will be wanting to harm him that he will end up locked away in a single cell not much different from death row.

2 Cents

Yes, apparently he is protected in Boise and had many more freedoms in Latah (TV etc).

Do most high profile inmates get protection? Surely after a period their notoriety wears off somewhat..

Latham is just a tiny jail under the courthouse where BK had his own room. Protective custody will be the same in Boise I believe.

@Cool Cats @Milkyjoe
"Protection" ??? From other detainees in the same facility?
May vary somewhat from one county jail to another county jail, IDK.
And could be somewhat different in an ID state prison.
"Privileges" may vary somewhat too, IDK.

Is it likely BK was assigned in Ada County jail to maximum-security unit?
Jail website does not explicitly say that the max-sec unit is one to a cell.
"The maximum-security unit, the most secure housing area for the inmates with the highest security risk, has 88 beds."
^ Jail

@Milkyjoe
I doubt whether BK's notoriety will wear off, even somewhat, until trial has concluded and some time ---years? --- pass. ICBWrong.

BTW, Vegan MEALS in Ada County jail
For the inmates previously opting for VEGETARIAN meals, Sheriff's office changed to vegan meals in March 2023.
26 sec. vid posted on youtube Feb 22, 2023

Seems BK should be satisfied imo that he will continue getting vegan meals as he has received in Latah County. Well, unless he learns the cookware has previously been used to prepare meat & dairy ingredients. No snark intended.

"Magic Question"??????? Trying to imagine what that might be.

Magic as in mysterious, secretive?

Or magic as in "potential juror, do you belive in magic?" And from there, what? Star gazing and teleporting?

It's sealed. It may be a long wait for an explanation.

Magic Question:
"It’s known in some circles as the “magic question”: Do you believe you could be fair and impartial in administering a verdict in this trial?"

MOO:
The defense wants to remove the self-diagnostic of bias contained in the "magic question" and most likely is proposing alternative methods to screen potential jurors for bias during voir dire.

That is NOTHING like I imagines.

Why, just why?

Not specifically related, but this has been rescheduled for November 13, 2024, after a failed attempt. Is it me or does this seem like a message, selecting this particular date, to BK and the Defense team?

<Snipped by Me for Focus>

I don't read this piece of evidence like that at all. And certainly not supportive of the defense.

Much in the same way if you walked a certain path 365 days a week, and they found your DNA inside of a home along that path, where it didn't belong.... the fact that you walk that path everyday is not going to be supportive of your case. If anything it incriminates you further. JMO.

That behavior gives you means and opportunity.

"I was at Grandma's" or "I was in another state, here's proof" or "my car was in the shop, my rental is a red Corvette" are favorable to the defense.

IMO even with the most liberal of interpretations of "I regularly drive around at ungodly hours and my DNA was found at a quadruple murder scene" (obviously not a real quote) this is neutral evidence at best.

MOO
I can hear the defense now. "Your honor, I'd like to call the moon and the stars to the stand!"

He was what?
Addicts generally pay for their habit with theft. BK was a heroin addict.
Going into houses and stealing while people sleep is called "hot prowling."

Certain criminals revel in their skills to go in and out without detection.

Do you think he was using during the time frame in which the murders occurred? I looked at a photo of him being led into the courtroom in Idaho for his first appearance and the antecubital areas of both arms looked fine. Not that he couldn't be injecting elsewhere on his body, IMO.

No. He beat his addiction, however MOO he had an attraction to being an Army Ranger, which is about night intrusion.
He was removed from his high school police track program for behavior toward females.

Hot prowling just fits a typical way of affording drugs combined with hia dream of being an elite assault soldier or law enforcement.

We only have one or two (I can't remember exactly) kids from his high school who came out and said he was an addict.

Who has actually confirmed he was removed from a police program etc - source?

"In high school, Bryan Kohberger, now suspected of killing four University of Idaho students in Moscow, was kicked out of his law enforcement training program after a complaint was made about him stemming from an incident involving female students, according to a former administrator at the county’s technical school."

"Bryan Kohberger, charged with Moscow college student murders, removed from high school police program after incident with female students."

"Idaho student murders suspect Bryan Kohberger was investigated and kicked out of a law enforcement high school programme after complaints from female students...
Now a former high school administrator has discussed issues with Mr Kohberger when he attended the programme at the Monroe Career and Technical Institute. Tanya Carmella-Beers told The Idaho Massacre podcast that she could not go into specifics of the claims made against Mr Kohberger. She told the podcast that Mr Kohberger took the programme “extremely seriously” but that an issue was reported to the school by a group of females.

“A complaint was made, and the teacher reported it to me, and said, ‘You know, this is not something we can have,’” said Ms Carmella-Beers.

But you can have FERPA violations? Was always odd to me to have that story confirmed by the school although it does say she is a former official. Still would be illegal to divulge I'd think.
