"In high school, Bryan Kohberger, now suspected of killing four University of Idaho students in Moscow, was kicked out of his law enforcement training program after a complaint was made about him stemming from an incident involving female students, according to a former administrator at the county’s technical school."

"Bryan Kohberger, charged with Moscow college student murders, removed from high school police program after incident with female students."

"Idaho student murders suspect Bryan Kohberger was investigated and kicked out of a law enforcement high school programme after complaints from female students...
Now a former high school administrator has discussed issues with Mr Kohberger when he attended the programme at the Monroe Career and Technical Institute. Tanya Carmella-Beers told The Idaho Massacre podcast that she could not go into specifics of the claims made against Mr Kohberger. She told the podcast that Mr Kohberger took the programme “extremely seriously” but that an issue was reported to the school by a group of females.

“A complaint was made, and the teacher reported it to me, and said, ‘You know, this is not something we can have,’” said Ms Carmella-Beers.

Thank you. I will wait to see what they come up with at trial and whether this will be allowed in.

But at the moment it's just that one school administrator, correct? And she doesn't say what he was accused of doing.

I can't imagine that what he might or might not have done in high school would be considered legally admissable in a trial for 2022 murders. Generally evidence of past behavior intended to show the defendant is "the type to do X" wouldn't be admissable.

Addicts generally pay for their habit with theft. BK was a heroin addict.
Going into houses and stealing while people sleep is called "hot prowling."

Certain criminals revel in their skills to go in and out without detection.
Hot prowling often leads to more serious criminal acts. It is no longer satisfying to just break in and watch...

But you can have FERPA violations? Was always odd to me to have that story confirmed by the school although it does say she is a former official. Still would be illegal to divulge I'd think.
MOO
IMO even thought the former administrator doesn't go into great detail, this is definitely FERPA violation territory.

This type of disclosure (end result of disciplinary action) is only typically allowed if its a matter of public safety, if it is related to a crime they are being accused of (in which case it'd likely be evidence to which he/she couldn't disclose), or if the person has been convicted of a crime that is related to the disciplinary action. JMO of course.

Not specifically related, but this has been rescheduled for November 13, 2024, after a failed attempt. Is it me or does this seem like a message, selecting this particular date, to BK and the Defense team?

I definitely think they are trying to send an implicit message here. A "just an FYI, this is the route were going with all our heinous crimes. Setting an example for the rest of society" All executions are ramping up around the country; Maybe more Midazolam expiring? BK is definitely an interesting character though.

That's not the case in our state, Ohio. The Governor this month has delayed until 2026 three executions of prisoners on death row due to the inability of the state to obtain drugs from manufacturers who oppose the use of their drugs for executions. There have been no state executions since 2018, IIRC.

I think I knew that. Werner Herzog did an INCREDIBLE documentary about that. I think its called into the abyss? He even interviewed former gov. hutchins, who happened to avoid a lot of questions about the safety of the drug. It must be similar to NJ, bc we have a moratorium on the death penalty, but you can definitely still get the death penalty as a sentence. NJ has no plans of lifting that though. Definately worth watching for sure. But in your opinion, do you think BK is going to get a fair trial with the venue change?

WAYMENTTT!!!!!

Strategically this is an incredible move for BK. This guy is playing chess while the rest of idaho is playing checkers. Every time I think I understand this guy, Bk and his team do something else. This trial should definitely be one for the books.

BK is given far too much credit. His expert died and this was the replacement option. JMOO

looked this up- seems there are exceptions to FERPA and maybe this was one:

I agree. This has always been very odd to me as well. In her role she would have been privy to both FERPA and HIPAA information, IMO. It makes me wonder if the reporter verified who s/he spoke to or not?

All JMO.

Yeah, the Daily M report is misleading and uninformed, full of irrelevant innuendo and short on facts.IMO.

Dr Wolf may appear on November 7th as defense witness in support of D's motion to strike DP on grounds of vagueness in balancing mitigating and aggravating factors. Imo it's not certain judge has over-ruled state's objection yet; if court rules in favour of state after hearing argument on Nov 7th, Dr Wolf may not end up testifying in support of that motion (although approval to appear by zoom, If she does end up testifying, has been granted).

DailyM goes on ad nauseum re Dr Wolf's role in OJ's defense at guilt trial, and then misleadingly via omission conflates that with BK's guilt phase trial, as if Dr Wolf has also been hired by Defense for comparable reasons in this case. Such a load imo and a good eg of a new misleading and sensationalised media report that may subliminally affect the impartiality of the Ada County jury pool. Moo.

The judge issued an order that Dr. Wolf could appear in the Nov. 7, 2024 hearing remotely.

Yes, I mentioned that in my post:imo doesn't mean judge has already dismissed P's objection to the testimony. That could happen after in- hearing argument related to the motion in question ( to strike DP on grounds of imbalance (paraphrase) between mitigating and aggravating factors). That's another reason why using zoom for this potential witness and others is a good idea imo. If allowed, Dr Wolf and others will appear via zoom, if not not such a big deal as zoom does not cost return tickets to Boise. Moo

@ilovewings Thx for the link. :)
"Recent court filings show his defense team have brought on renowned forensics expert Dr. Barbara C. Wolf to testify remotely at a hearing scheduled for November 7.
"Wolf is currently the medical examiner of Florida's 5th and 24th districts, which include Citrus, Hernando, Lake, Marion, Seminole and Sumter counties. She has worked on several high-profile cases...."

^ Worked on def team in OJ Simpson case and others. ^

Re OJ case, "At the time, Wolf worked as the director of anatomic pathology at Albany Medical College and examined at least one of the gloves...."
