A little more about the hair found in Abby's hand:

Allen’s defense attorneys have previously accused investigators of intentionally keeping evidence that could prove their client’s innocence. Just days earlier, the defense claimed that a strand of hair found in Williams’ hand did not match Allen’s or the victims’. During his opening statement, he said the hair belonged to a female.

The Defense should tackle the timeline rather than argue the girls were taken somewhere else and unalived elsewhere.

And as for the State, they aren't really adding more in their Opening to what went down during the 3 Day Hearing this year.

This trial may be a short one.

They said it and can't take it back now. It just astonishes me they'd go there. I think you're right, deliberations may be very short indeed. There may still be a plea. AJMO

Ok, I had assumed it was animal hair or belonging to a female, based on the fact that the defense never mentioned this earlier.

He said in opening statements that it had a root.
That doesn't mean they were able to get nuclear DNA from it. Also, if it was a single hair, they might have gone for mitochondrial because, at the time, that was the only profile you could get from the rest of the hair, and it would be less destructive, leaving the root for further testing in the future if needed.

If it came back as the same mDNA as the German family, they probably didn't test further because it could be attributed to a victim or non suspect family member.

I don't think it's a nothingburger. Not at all.

As always, JMO.

How?
He was doing his best to imply that the hair belongs to someone else involved in the crime.

If the testing that was done points to a female family member, especially the person that loaned the jacket, I would call that a nothing burger.

I truly believe that unless the confessions are extremely clear (I did this, then this, I left this way etc) with information that was NOT available in his discovery then there is a good chance he walks on this, the prosecution has an extremely weak case and when BB testifies she saw a youthful man with puffy red hair it will insert a ton of reasonable doubt to the jury.

If he did do this crime I hope the confessions are very concise.

If he didn’t do it I hope that he walks.

As always jmo

Also someone posted that two different weapons were used up thread a little bit, is there any source on that? That would change everything imo

No wonder the Defense withdrew their Motion to have jury view the CS. It would have done 2 things IMO:
1) Shoot a hole in the someone was waiting and drove them off and then brought them back theory
2) They didn't take into consideration the almost sacred effect that the MHB and trails could have on jurors

JMO

I find both opening statements disappointing. I think it's possible the prosecution don't have more than the PCA. They caught him after 6 years, he had time to clean/ trown away the evidence. I bet they would more evidence if they hadn't misfiled his interview with DD. As far the opening statmement of the defense, I think the hair is a nothing burger (it is a female hair of a relative of Libby) and the theory that the girls bodies are moved and back to the scene makes no sense. I hope they didn't attack the timeling attacking the family members of the victims but I don't know.
