Abby & Libby - The Delphi Murders - Richard Allen Arrested - #199

It literally happens all the time. We hear these big bold claims, and they don’t come close to delivering on them. I think it’s happened in every case I’ve followed.

Agree, this is only the beginning, the trail has barely begun. Earlier it was if RA’s guilt or innocence could be decided on the strength of the PCA, now it’s as if it can be gleaned by P and D opening statements. Those who presume it’s as easy as pie to predict will be in for a big surprise. JMO

Well, it confused me, too. It seems if there were a number of others tromping around the crime scene (LE?) carrying the same ammo... is the test so definitive that the bullet must be RA's? It's not even a fired round.
Still, add up the evidence:

1) He was on the bridge just before the girls arrived; no other men were seen but him
2) Libby videotaped a man that looked like him and was dressed like him walking towards them on the bridge
3) Libby recorded his voice "Guys, down the hill"
4) A bullet that matched his gun was found between the girl's bodies
5) He confessed to murdering the girls numerous times - supposedly

Should be enough for a conviction.

Motive for murder

So far, the prosecution has not publicly discussed a possible motive for the murders since Allen was arrested 18 months ago. The state does not have to establish or prove a motive to convict someone in a murder trial.
But Jackson-Lindsay said jurors are naturally curious about motives.
“This jury will want to know why this seemingly normal guy woke up on that morning and decided to commit this crime,” Jackson-Lindsay said. “So while (the prosecutor) does not have to prove motive, I think it would be helpful for a jury to wrap their mind around why he would do such a thing.”

More from morning testimony, per media pool: Libby’s grandma, Becky Patty told about the day Libby and Abby went to the Monon High Bridge Trail on a day off from school. “And the last thing she said to me was, grandma, it will be OK.”

Becky Patty testified that after the girls were found in a late-night search, investigators wouldn’t take her to see Libby. She said she realized they were dead when she saw a coroner’s truck going by. From media pool reporters

Does the sketch artist get paid or do they do it as a side line and a bit of experience, and it looks good on their CV?

I am intrigued as I produced better work for my GCSE course work, and I was 15 years of age :)

I am frantically trying to catch up and there is so many pages. Is Court in session tomorrow?

So now the state is scrambling to test the hair? (according to BM) Ooof, WTG Indiana, glad to see my taxpayer $$ going to such stellar LE! JMO
Yes, they're. Not sure why it wasn't already tested prior to trial.
Its not unusual for a defense team to grab at everything possible for their client.

Kind of proves the point on sketches, doesn’t it? Perception of appearance is in the mind of the observer.

Those two composite sketches done in 2017 and 2019 still don't look like Richard Allen, to me, and never will.

As for this trial sketch - no way is that Judge Gull if that is who the sketcher is sketching.

Your record is not correct. Unless all the media misunderstood, the D indeed claimed the girls were killed elsewhere during their opening statement.

“The defense attorney also suggested the girls may have gone up an access road, gotten into another vehicle and were killed elsewhere before being taken back to where their bodies were discovered near Deer Creek.”

Since we can't hear for ourselves, we have to rely on others' interpretations. This writer could be wrong. Or could be right. Personally, I'll listen/read multiple accounts to figure out what to believe. There's going to be a huge rush, especially in MSM, to be the "first." We all should take the fine details with a grain of salt, IMO.

As always, JMO.
