OOOOH! IN Appellate Attorney Cara is on Defense Diaries’ live this afternoon!
Hhhmm, I do presume he isn’t guilty and I must say I imagine when he volunteered to tell the police he was there that he felt he had nothing to hideme. If I was there and a possible witness to anything that might be helpful I would have no reason not to volunteer that info to LE. Your question presumes RA is not guilty. MOO
My answer is based on my own moral compass and has nothing to do with RA or this case.
Just because RA is receiving potentially poor or substandard legal defense doesn't mean he wasn't in a psychotic break and that they potentially should have argued what you're implying, MOOwhy did the defense not attempt to have him evaluated and declared incompetent to stand trial or assist in his own defense if he was flinging and eating his own poo and psychotic?
RA seems to be consistently minimizing things, even when was being interviewed by LE. There but watching fish; if from the girls camera, not him, etc.It also might be a bit easier on his wife and family if he attacked women not girls. I honestly do NOT think he thought Libby and Abby were older. They look like the two kids they were.

Re: the diagnostic elasticity and the concept of psychosis vs faking it, I don’t see why both can’t be true at differing points. For example:
-in prison, RA underwent a legit significant deterioration in his mental health
-at certain points, he was consciously acting “crazier” than he actually was
-at some point (or more than once) he may have crossed over into actual psychosis for some period of time
I actually think this is extremely plausible, and what frustrates me (among other things) is that it feels like Wala was so close to getting it.
I cannot emphasize enough that this is not my professional opinion, it’s just one scenario that seems reasonable to me.
I imagine RA thought the same when he volunteered to tell LE he was thereI would as I would have absolutely zero to hide. I have the upmost respect for the police and believe ultimately they protect society.

Well when you actually committed the murders, it's not a good idea to tell LE you were there. Especially when you go on to tell them you were wearing the same clothes as BG, and saw the same people who claim to have seen you.I imagine RA thought the same when he volunteered to tell LE he was there
There he is. The real Richard Allen, screaming and threatening to kill a guard. So it wasn’t just harsh prison conditions that caused him to act out.
I really don’t get the infantilizing of RA, when we hear he sits in court and laughs.

Very good logical observation. If one thing may be happening, why isn’t the other? Surely the D, given their past "strategies", could add further distraction by doing so yet it hasn’t occurred that I’m aware. Interesting indeed.I've actually been disappointed by the youtubers I thought were the "good ones." Is the ACLU or other such organizations concerned about Allen's trial? Serious question that just occurred to me. IDK.

I would agree though-if you did commit the murders it’s not a good idea to volunteer you were in the area wearing a blue jacket and jeans.Well when you actually committed the murders, it's not a good idea to tell LE you were there. Especially when you go on to tell them you were wearing the same clothes as BG, and saw the same people who claim to have seen you.
Nothing, and if we don’t get it I won’t be happy. So no definitive testimony on phone tracking/activity yet?
Specifically relating to the IMEI that DD took from RA in the initial store parking lot interview?
I imagine RA thought the same when he volunteered to tell LE he was there
But that’s definitely not why you would self reportNo he wanted to get out of the speeding train heading for him as he worked in a public setting and knew he had been seen by multiple people.
It was all self serving!!
I can't wait to hear the excuses for RA's behavior in the Cass County Jail by all the pro Allen defenders who felt he should have been in there all along. This will be interesting to say the least.oh boy
#UPDATE: About 20 minutes into the afternoon session of the Delphi trial there’s been a hiccup of some kind.Started when Prosecutor McLeland asked the witness about a video of Mr. Allen in the Cass County Jail where he apparently became irate and was banging on his cell door.
The witness, Master Trooper Harshman, viewed the video over lunch. It apparently has Mr. Allen saying “I’m going to kill you” to the guards. Defense Attorney, Brad Rozzi objected, and said the video was not in discovery. There was a sidebar with Judge Gull.
When they returned from their sidebar Judge Gull sent the jury out. It appears as though she is giving the defense team time to review the video. We’ll see what happens next, court reconvenes at 2:15 PM
So like, how many of y’all who think he is absolutely guilty would (after this case) volunteer that you were somewhere on the same day and time a murdered occurred?
But that’s definitely not why you would self report
But that’s definitely not why you would self report
Definitely one of the "dirtier" cases and trials I've read about in a long while.Prosecution playing dirty trying to admit evidence that hasn’t been given to defense.
