Even if they didn't, it doesn't mean they weren't there on the day in question. How much time elapsed before police conducted a search?
Exactly what I was thinking. Testimony from Ian and Simon, [Simon from what he was told by Heather earlier], was that there were 4 large matching plates and one smaller orange-ish plate.

If LE looked for those plates and they weren't at the house, it will still be very suspicious, imo. She had time to dump the dehydrator so she could have trashed the plates as well. IMO

Jury’s note to judge

Earlier, as the jury entered about 10.50am trial judge Justice Christopher Beale said he had received a note from the jury.

The note read; “the jury is still struggling to hear when the crown and defence are facing away”, he said.

Responding to the note, Justice Beale said it can be difficult for the lawyers when asking a witness a question but “I’m sure they’ll bear that in mind”.
That's worrisome if the jurors can't hear what the attorneys are asking the witnesses---that can really affect the jurors understanding of the answers if they don't know the full context.

The existence of multiple phones and SIM cards has raised questions about her communications leading up to and following the incident. Prosecutors suggest that this could indicate an attempt to conceal certain communications.
Given how little has been provided as evidence, Iam still looking at other possibilities.

Extra phones and sims could have been used by teen children, could have been used for travel. Not uncommon to buy a travel sim when you don’t want to pay international roaming fees. I’ve done all of these things multiple times over the years.

Surely they could have gotten enough for 4 if they knew early, heck my mechanic can get parts from hours away with very short notice.
Are you in Australia though? It’s vast. You can fly for 5 hours and still be in Australia.

Red flag after red flag. If l was on the jury l would already be thinking guilty as sin.

This trial is expected to run for about 6 weeks. Yet most of the meatly stuff seems to have already been dealt with. What do the next few weeks hold?
I’m just waiting for Erin to do a deal mid-trial to plead out in exchange for a lighter sentence.
Every day the trial just gets worse and worse.
IMO

Yes I am, it’s not that vast that life saving
medicine couldnt be delivered rapidly. You can travel from Sydney to Melb in an hour, or from Canberra more efficiently.

Yikes!
You do realise that witness testimony is evidence, right?

We also heard in the opening a prelude to the evidence we will hear.

What other possible scenario can you imagine? Erin herself has admitted to foraging the death caps, which appeared on the dehydrator she threw away along with her fringed prints, and lied about. What could possibly be an alternative theory?

She can’t get a lighter sentence now the trial has commenced

So where did Phone A go?

Are VicPol that ignorant, is the prosecutor that ignorant, that they haven't investigated properly?

One phone is missing, and we are told that the other was factory-reset remotely while it was in police custody.

I was not aware that such resets could be done, however:

Apple lets you initiate a remote erase request with compatible iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, and Apple Watch devices. No matter the Apple device, this is performed by using the ‘Find My iPhone’ function on iCloud.com. Note that your device needs to be online for this to work. If it’s offline at the time of request, the remote erase request will occur next time the device is online.

-- and --

[For Android] To remotely erase, head to the dedicated Android website then sign in with your Google Account credentials. For multiple devices under the same account, click the corresponding icon at the top of the screen. If you use multiple Google Accounts on a device you want to erase, sign in to the main profile.

With the device selected, choose ‘Enable lock & erase’, then ‘Erase device’. Note that everything on phone storage should be deleted but it might not delete data stored on SD cards. If you find your device afterwards, you’ll need to use your Google Account password to access it again.

Even if she was innocent, she had good reason to throw them. I can’t imagine her kids would want them as a reminder either,

I imagine she is horrified that her body and face has been published worldwide

IMO people will still be reading about this case in 100 years time.

As far as I'm aware, she eventually admitted to foraging for edible mushrooms, not death caps. Perhaps her defence is that she didn't realise that she'd picked some poisonous varieties along with the others.

It's a massive stretch considering that the death caps only made it into the meals of the guests.

Iam 90% in the guilty camp. However, Iam trying to remain objective. It is week 1.

I am curious about the accusation made during the Prosecution Opening ----IIRC, they claimed that EP logged onto a website that kept track of Death Cap sightings and warnings. And after she saw a warning of them being seen in one particular area, she allegedly traveled to that area 2 days later, and also bought her dehydrator just before she traveled there? I think that was the gist of it...

I wonder how much proof they have of that scenario?

Because if they can nail that accusation down, the 'accidental' defense will fall apart, imo.

Yes. Neither the cook, nor the Labrador, or the 2 children got sick. Just the invited guests.

She definitely mucked up as even if she had sacrificed the dog that would of helped sell the story a bit better.

MOO

I wonder if she's going to admit that she made separate batches of mushroom duxelles?
This is what puzzles me about her defence.

Typically you'd mix a single batch of duxelles and spoon it onto each Beef Wellington, and there'd be no chance of poisoning some and not the others.

I'm usually pretty good at remaining objective throughout a trial so I can carefully consider all of the evidence, but seriously. She should have taken a plea deal if it was offered before trial.

I guess if she was stupid enough to believe that she could pull off the mass murder in the first place, she's stupid enough to believe that she can convince a jury that she's innocent.

All IMO/MOO

It hurts me that apparently Ian didn't get to say goodbye to Heather, or Don and Gail to each other.

Maybe she fancies herself as a super sleuth and a clever criminal. IMO.

That’s a really good point. She saved the people and animals that truly mattered to her. Herself, her kids, her Labrador.

The Lab being alive is a big tell.
