In a hypothetical situation where EP was granted an appeal which resulted in a retrial (which I hope will not occur), would the evidence of Simon's alleged poisoning be again suppressed? Would the prosecution again be prevented from including the alleged manslaughter of Simon in the same trial as the murders?

A lot of us knew about the suspected poisonings of Simon prior to this trial (though not some of the finer details until now), but how ridiculous would it be to suppress it for a second time. Does the Justice system think they have mastered the art of selective memory wiping of the populous. Do they think they have a memory wiping device like used in the Men-in-Black movie franchise? Do they think that we all live in an Australian media bubble?

If I could have it my way, I would not allow suppression of any evidence whatsoever, including prior convictions. Let it all hang out in the open and let the jury decide, not the Judge.

Completely agree. I find the argument a little ludicrous that it would prejudice the jury. Jury members should be selected that don’t follow the case

I don’t think so. I think she will probably end up found deceased in jail. She’s got nowhere really to turn, no one to manipulate, no physical touch, no Facebook or social media with which to play with people’s lives, no painkillers to take just for fun, no car with which to drive to 4 different takeaway stores in a day to satisfy her food cravings.

She is staring down the barrel of a life with no purpose, no joy, no novelty and no meaning - with all of her prior loved ones now probably rejecting her.

I think she’ll just self-implode.

But you knew her better - I’ve don’t know her apart from the media reports of her.

IMO
I think she will find her niche in there, gain a partner or 2 and enjoy her new life, books and more books.

I completely agree and on top of that just imagine how much gaslighting he must have endured throughout that relationship with her.

I recall her playing the exact same manipulative psychological games within our online group. It’s almost laughable but also revealing that one of her closest friends “Dani Barklay” testified at the pre-trial hearing that this so-called new group was started for “sane” people including Erin. The truth - that group was actually created by Erin after members of our “sane” group confronted Erin about her erratic and bullying and stalking behaviours.

There was absolutely nothing sane about the women who enabled her or who cheered her on while she repeatedly lied about Simon and attacked members of the public for daring to disagree with her. Her behaviour was unhinged - from stalking to obsessively compiling files on individuals who hadn’t even done anything criminal, merely those who opposed her online.

While those group members aren’t directly responsible for what she did they owe themselves some serious self-examination. They swallowed her nonsense without question, encouraged her to “get that family out of your life” (though I sincerely hope they didn’t intend that to mean she should harm them) and failed to call her out or report her behaviour to the police, even post-lunch, without serious pressure. In my view that’s outright sycophancy. They created a toxic echo chamber around her and they should be deeply ashamed. IMO
EP is very skilled at her "craft". I recognised her early on as someone to be wary of. Looks like my initial perception was correct. She is an odd-ball. An odd-ball who decided to murder innocent people.
I for one am very happy she can never go on the internet ever again, and she is right where she belongs.
Evil 🧙‍♀️

If she dies it won't be at her own hands.
She rates herself too highly for that to happen, imo.

Imo she will only consider suicide when all of her avenues to exploit are closed.

I couldn’t agree more, and remember, what we often see is filtered through a sensationalised, clickbait prism. The way his words were presented frequently emphasised the narrative that he was steering things toward "not guilty," but that might simply be the angle chosen for engagement.

I’m familiar with numerous facts in this case, both reported and omitted, and the way they’ve been presented to the public is often wildly skewed. It’s genuinely astonishing how frequently journalists fail to fact-check or convey the full truth in the coverage of this case, especially in what has arguably become the most over‑saturated criminal case in contemporary Australian history. With countless outlets reporting on it, you'd expect more subtlety and nuance in representing the facts.

I’m eagerly awaiting the day Court TV comes to Australia, it could at least offer continuous, in‑depth courtroom coverage without the hype and clickbait so that we can discern the facts for ourselves. IMO

I have some sympathy for the reporters trying to provide the trial play-by-play in real time. However, especially during the summing up, it was noticeable how often they would write "the judge said X." When in reality the Judge was clearly just relaying the defense's stance. As in "the judge said Erin Patterson vomited after the lunch" instead of "the judge said that the defense claimed Erin Patterson vomited after the lunch."

It was especially striking because they rarely did it the other way. They always made clear when the judge was relaying the prosecution's case.

I don't know what their motive was, but it was a real disservice to proper journalism and gave the public the wrong idea about what was happening inside the courtroom.

What I know of her is that she’s a psychopath, and not your normal run of the mill psychopath. Those people don’t usually kill themselves until all possible hope of their freedom is extinguished, and they can no longer manipulate perceptions and be parasitic on “supporters” and society. We have a longggg ways to go until that, IMO.

Psychopaths are known to cause problems in prisons, so if she's ranked high on the Hare scale then there's trouble ahead.

Erin Patterson's mates make chilling claim about her mother's death Erin Patterson's mates make chilling claim about her mother's death
Daily Mail can now reveal what those closest to the 50-year-old thought made her murder her in-laws with a poisonous beef Wellington lunch.

Some of our group members work in the criminal justice field and believe if she's done this on purpose it wasn't her first rodeo. Most people who poison "practice".

Mother died from a coma due to alcoholism from what we were told by EP. The media is reporting it was cancer. Maybe liver cancer. I don't know.'

I recall when she tried to poison him with the cookies from her daughter. What a horrible evil woman who would rope a kid into trying to kill their own parent.
Those poor poor children.
Now you've got me really intrigued... how did you know about the cookie incident? Did Erin slip up and say something suspicious at the time? Or later at the "Ask Me Anything" post-lunch Q&A? Are you able to tell us now what was said at that Q&A?

Hearing from Simon will be good BUT who I'd really like to hear from is EP's estranged sister.

I think we finally agree, Max.

Add that to that Simon was 'salt of the earth' - you know, the types of people who haven't experienced really horrid people in this world, and the fact he was a victim of DV and coercive control, and you have the perfect mechanism for denial in such extreme circumstances. IMO
The police interview reveals the vitriol directed at Simon. She said, Doesn’t matter what he did or whatever… I loved them and he hated that…or whatever - just trying to paint him as a villain. That’s some projection right there.

Imagine the stories and all the lying from childhood!

What I can't understand is the need to pay bucket loads of money to be represented by a reputed hot shot lawyer and all they can do for you is get life with parole, instead of life without parole and at this stage that may not happen - all with no chance of a successful appeal. EP could have achieved the same result by defending herself and left the money to her kids imo.
I think she always truly believed she would get away with it

Whereas I hope she is able to close the door for good on Erin and just live her life. She doesn't owe her a minute more of her time, and any interview wouldn't be about her, it would be about Erin. And I for one think that Erin's had more than enough time in the spotlight. Time for her to vanish into obscurity and for the me me me she used to dominate everyone to vanish from the lives of her family members.

MOO

She's so brazen in her lying. She's despicable.

Also, I will be very interested and sad to hear the victim impact statements
