Too soon to be Phone A (wiped, reset, no sim), no case?

What's that leave? External hard drive? (Credit to posters upthread)

Her cream pants made it out just fine, but that rectangle apparently did not.

Must have been very important/incriminating.

JMO
Maybe she should have sacrificed her cream pants, it might have proved a few points.

My money is on her disposing of whatever it was in the sanitary bin. The next person to use it would not see inside it, and no doubt the company that disposes of the contents are likely not to see anything untoward either.
Unless the next person to use it was an undercover or plain clothes cop or PI trailing Erin and looking for evidence of any evidence Erin might have tried to dispose of in her travels.

Maybe Erin was already paranoid or wary of the possibility of an undercover cop, plain clothes cop or PI being on her trail. Including possibly one (PI) she thought Simon or another family member of his might have hired to trail her.

Whatever it was that she disposed of, she would have had it wrapped in a tissue or something similar IMO.

I agree, but, I read somewhere that there is no toilet room/cubicle/area directly inside that door. There is a long hall to the end where the separate M/F/Disabled rest rooms are. If this is true, she wouldn't have had time unless there was some sort of bin right inside that entrance door. IMO
Which further has me wondering whether Erin might have been on high alert (or already getting quite paranoid after what she had just done with the death-caps and other evidence tampering/disposals, as to whether someone was following her, (cop or PI), and possibly disposed of nothing during those 9 seconds, but was just more generally checking to see if anyone was on her trail in looking to see who exited that restroom hallway access door soon after she exited it herself.

I might be imagining things here. I think she put something in the bin in the toilet and then when she came out noticed that someone else had gone in. I think she then pretended to be buying a sandwich but was really waiting to see if the person had found what she dropped in the bin and had come out looking for the owner and she could say it was hers. It seems she put back the first sandwich she had chosen and when a different woman comes out of the toilet she seems to duck down.
Alternatively, if she's right about having bad gastro then how disgusting that she puts soiled tissues in the bin in the toilet without washing her hands and then handling the food.
Good point!

New theory re the unknown black object in Erin's hand(s) at the BP stop.

Maybe Erin was getting paranoid or wary of the possibility that someone might have been tailing her on her drive that day.

So to test out whether this was the case, deliberately got out the car holding something (other than her mobile phone) that might look like the sort of item she might be going to dispose of.

Subsequently when inside the BP, Erin goes into that restroom area for a very short time, not to dispose of anything, but to see if anyone follows her inside to see if she disposes of anything in there. Hence Erin appearing to loiter around that sandwiches refrigerated shelf area monitoring who comes out of that restroom hallway door after her.

She was only in the entrance to the toilets for 6 seconds. She either disposed of something in a bin inside the door, or had a change of heart IMO.

Oh my goodness - I just rewatched and @Aquawoman is spot on, I think. at 1:47 you can see her actually poke her head around the sandwich area to see who is coming out of the toilet!

“She was quiet, reserved and didn’t get involved in the wider group,” the former student recalled.

“She really kept on the periphery and kept herself to herself.”

She said students in the acceleration program were “super bright” and spent the first several years of high school whipping through the curriculum in separate classes.

She described these students as “smart and boffiny”, but often a “little bit odd”.

“But there was a little bit of joviality between the mainstream students and the Taskforce students about the fact they were a bit nerdy,” she added.

As for Patterson, she was a “STEM girl” with a passion for math and science.

Above is some of the more interesting stuff from the following article (pretty sure it's less than 10% of the article):
Knowing high school, that “little bit of joviality” could be outright bullying. Not that that would at all excuse Patterson. Just a note of what school management often disregards.

Yes, she did. I noticed the same thing and she put the sandwiches back and later picked different ones.

If she suspected she was being followed by a PI, why on Earth did she continue to wear the white pants? She was relatively loaded, could have bought a few extra pairs at least.

It’s difficult to 2nd guess most people, but in Erin’s case it’s almost impossible imo, as her mind’s workings are ‘different’. Who knows what she was carrying & disposed of.
Maybe it was Phone A but she swapped the case; the phone she was using next day in pink case may not have been phone A - only Erin knows for sure.

I do agree that she was on a mission with this Sunday outing & found a story of ‘pooing in the bush’ that backed up her ‘gastro’, as well as a need for a quick disposal of something in the WC at the servo.

I think it quite possible that she had excess DC powder to get rid of, also perhaps even the missing meat out of Simon’s Beef Wellington. Put it all in a little plastic container, then in the black doggy do-do bag, and into the female hygiene bin. Gone.

I wonder just how much DC toxin was found in the leftovers, because I think those leftovers were deliberately & strategically placed in the Woolworth paper bag in the bin, so they were easily located if she was asked about them.
I think she had a Plan for after the lunch:
Bin the Safe leftovers
Take all crockery, cutlery & cooking utensils to the dump immediately after
Also get rid of the boxes that things came in
Next day on way to flying lessons, get rid of the ‘left over dc powder’

Simon didn’t eat his BW, so she scraped out the poisonous filling & added to the dc powder to be dumped.

But things didn’t go according to Plan, as her quests went to hospital way earlier than expected - there was even a chance they may just die a home !

And she missed the fact that DC is highly toxic, so scraping the filing out didn’t eradicate chances of it being traceable in the ‘moisture’ lining the pastry shell.

JMO.

Is anyone here a subscriber to the HeraldSun?

‘Brilliant but unhinged’: Inside Erin Patterson’s high school days

Fresh details have emerged about mushroom cook Erin Patterson’s time at high school, with the triple murderer described as being a “super bright” student but “a little bit odd”.

"Unhinged" in what way? Does anybody know?

I don't know what she was like in highschool, but she was unhinged when I knew her. That is the exact word I said to my friends in the group about her. She stalks people, is paranoid, belligerent and crazy with her obsessiveness!

I'm now 100% convinced that Erin put something(s) in the restroom bins that she was concerned could implicate her in her crimes (that was not fake soiled tissues).

Watching the vid again a few times, it so much looks like Erin is checking the movements in and out of that restroom door very closely whilst loitering around the sandwiches.

She probably only bought the sandwiches as a cover for why she was using the sandwich open fridge area as cover to check out the restroom door area, in case anyone came out with what she had just dumped in one of the restroom bins, that was the sort of item someone might take out of a bin, such as an electronic item like a phone or a digital storage drive.
So that would the item had to be visible, so it wasn’t a feminine hygiene bin it went into if that the case

Seems it was on the way there?

'She was playing it down', son says of mother's illness

Erin's son says his mother was "a bit quieter" than usual that morning which he thinks was because she was sick.

He confirms the drive to his flying lesson was about an hour and ten minutes and he thinks they left home around midday.

Erin Patterson took son on hours-long drive despite feeling sick, murder trial hears — as it happened

I don’t disagree that she was dumping something in the bin at the service station toilet area.

But - is there a bin in the corridor to the toilets as well as in the toilets as well? If not, was there enough time to walk down the corridor, open the door to the toilet and dump something into the bin near the sink area? And if she made it that far, why not take a bit of extra time to go into a cubicle, close the door and use the sanitary disposal area?

IMO she’d already disposed of items at the dump after the lunch and during that 11 min when her son was at Subway the evening after the lunch, so what/why did she throw away so much farther away from home?
