Australia Australia - Pheobe Bishop, 17, failed to board a flight from Queensland, Bundaberg, 15 May 2025 *Arrests* #3

“Kaylea Bishop, 18, attended Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Friday, dressed in black with her eyes red, where Pheobe's housemates James Wood and Tanika Bromley were due to appear accused of Pheobe's murder

She sat in the far corner of the front row, staring straight ahead flanked by friends, family and a court security guard as details of the murder charges against the couple were read out.

Neither wood nor Bromley appeared in person or by video link for the hearing and afterwards Kaylea walked outside tomake her heartbreaking statement.

'We just want her home,' she said.

'I don't know what to say, if you've got any information about Pheobe or the car, just come forward.“

From what the detective was saying, he made it sound like the public had provided information relating to that car so most likely. The car is shown in the photos that have been in the media parked outside the house though.

I did wonder why that car hadn't been seized but maybe it was strategic to leave it there. They focus on TB's car so JW thinks his car is in the clear. Which leads him to use his car to do all the things he shouldn't be doing
Maybe a witness did see the car and the mess around it

After all, the house is just near IGA

Someone taking photographs or video one morning prior to police announcing a missing person case, could have inadvertently taken lots of photographs or video on their morning walk or drive through town

I personally love witnesses. Nothing like witnesses to bring a case to its knees.

Wait, did her mother attend Court? There's only mention of Kaylea and "family"

Police to allege Pheobe’s body was moved more than once as housemates charged with murder

Police have shared new details of their allegations against the housemates of missing teen Pheobe Bishop, who have been charged with her murder.

Police will allege missing teenager Pheobe Bishop’s body was moved “on more than one occasion” by her housemates, who were overnight charged with her murder.

Detective Inspector Craig Mansfield told reporters on Friday it would be alleged Phoebe’s body was at one point in the Good Night Scrub National Park.

It will be alleged Pheobe, Mr Wood and Ms Bromley were all in the car when it arrived on Airport Drive near Bundaberg Airport on May 15.

Our evidence will outline the fact that three people arrived near to the airport, and three people never exited that vehicle,” he said.

He said police “were not finished” with their investigation, and their primary focus was now to locate Pheobe, with officers returning to previous locations of interest to continue the search.

“As you’re well aware we’ve searched particular areas to date. It is a vast area of unforgiving terrain that we’ve been looking into,” Inspector Mansfield said.

“While we always hoped to find Pheobe alive, as our investigation has progressed ... quite clearly showed us that was not going to be a viable outcome.”

Police have also not yet located Pheobe’s luggage.

“We suspect it will be in the greater Gin Gin area,” Inspector Mansfield said.

Inspector Mansfield revealed their investigation had been informed by telephone data, and more than 200 tip offs from members of the public.”

I haven’t watched it yet but if they are using the language confirms 3 people in the car, they aren’t necessarily saying 3 alive people. Hence I think it’s still possible whatever happened was in the house and not to be read that she was alive going to the airport.
I came here to say the same thing. I do wonder if she was killed at the house around 5am, when a scream was heard, and then boldly transported to the airport as a passenger to make it look like they dropped her off near there. Obviously they wanted to have proof of them travelling towards the airport (so much CCTV around), but they wanted to "drop her off" somewhere without enough CCTV to show she never left the vehicle, which would have been impossible if they entered the airport drop off zone like normal people do. Perhaps in the area near the airport where they travelled and weren't covered well by CCTV (The Samuels Rd area if I recall correctly) they briefly stopped and pushed Pheobe down to the foot well area of the backseat, or even just slumped her down out of sight to make the journey to the national park. Police do say that JW and TB did not exit the vehicle, nor did Pheobe, but it doesn't say they did not stop.

I do recall somewhere another mention of 5am, I think from JW himself. It might have been that Pheobe wanted to get up then and he was adamant he didn't want to get up that early. Perhaps she tried to wake him then and he lashed out, along with TB. I can't picture JW as an early riser personally. If it was just a trip to drop Pheobe at the airport, why did it take both her housemates? If he didn't want to get up that early, TB could have just driven her. Having both in the car meant they could both discuss their next movements and both help to cover their tracks, if they are guilty of course.

Yep, Pretty much my theory a few pages back, aside from a couple of your thoughts you suggested here, I've always held the believe she never even got to that airport alive.

9News Facebook page has the video. The sound is distorted for the first few minutes but it does play.

Thanks so much for linking the presser…. Greatly appreciated!

I wondered if a second car was involved because if you look at GN scrub park pics, you'll see a freshly broken tree stump, and that would have left major damage on the Hyundai, it looked more like something lifted, like a fourwheel drive with bullbars hit it.

Another phenomenon in crime scenes is placing small branches all over the deceased, even though it doesn't conceal them from view, and there were lots of small branches around the crime scene.

I wonder where the rest of that broken tree has gone, used for a fire maybe?

Reversed up maybe? Hence broken tree stump?

I wonder if they were brazen enough to apply for bail? Nothing mentioned here.

“Acting Magistrate Stephen Byrne, who appeared via video link from Rockhampton Magistrates Court, adjourned the matter to August 11 in Bundaberg Magistrates Court. The court heard Bromley was in the Bundaberg watch house. She was remanded in custody.

Wood’s matter was also briefly mentioned in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Friday and adjourned to August 11. He was also remanded in custody.”

By looking at the angle of the stump and how it's splinted, it's been pushed towards the scrub. I looked at a few other pics of this and couldn't see the fallen trunk lying on the ground anywhere. Maybe LE had moved it or taken it away for testing, or someone used it for fire wood?

Hopefully a couple of months in jail will get them talking

Only the Supreme Court can grant bail for murder.

QLD Law - Bail

The detective was asked in the media conference if one of the accused was in fact arrested and charged whilst at the Bundaberg Police Station. He confirmed that yes that was true. The media asked whether that person handed themselves in. He stated no they did not. They were at the police station already in relation to the investigation.

This is what led me to make my comment.
I think this will be Tanika, as there is body cam footage of JW being arrested for homicide and it looks like he was in a houseor caravan. So why was she at the police station? I know there were weapons charges - which I’m curious about. Were they planning to dump weapons but were too slow?

This is a reasonable scenario but the call received from the boyfriend remains the one element that contradicts it. In the media report it was confirmed that QPS had utilised cellular data to confirm certain locations of interest. This combined with the extremely unlikelihood of the call being made by the accused, the difficulty and risk of manipulating a body into the position of a passenger, suggests PB was alive in the way to the airport. The five minute stop on airport drive was most likely when the alleged murder occured. PB but was then disposed of (sorry for the lack of tact) and then relocated to a more discreet location. Hence, 2 counts of interference.
