CANADA Canada - Darius Macdougall, 5, Crowsnest Pass, Alberta,Canada 21 Sept 2025

why not just stick to the walking version that was published day after day? If he was playing on an island within sight of the adults, that’s different than going for a walk and failing to return with the group of children.
The group of children including Darius walked to the island, which was within sight of the adults. Two or more children turned away from Darius briefly during which time he disappeared. The other children walked back to inform the adults. IMHO what was reported then could cover this scenario even tho it's not what anybody on WS wrote about. Maybe those on the ground plus the current fbk group do have more idea than us here on WS tens, hundreds, thousands of miles away.

That's OK for me.

But considering the futile 11-day exhaustive search, I sincerely hope the circumstances leading up to Darius’s disappearance which were passed on were accurate and precise.
Maybe they were. Even if Darius wasn't found during those 11 days. I know fbk isn't allowed on here, but that doesn't mean that a well-run group especially of searchers on the ground isn't going to progress further than us on WS. As I wrote above, that's OK for me. It's about finding Darius and bringing him home.

As with any news report, the general public forms various opinions. Isn’t that why we’re here?
There are probably lots of different reasons for being here. Some of which seem to be keyboard sleuthing which is inevitably different from doing it on the ground. RCMP and other SAR don't owe us on WS absolutely precise details, even if some members' posts are read by LE in the US, which has been stated here on WS (or even by the RCMP in Canada, which I don't recall being stated here, but could be the case).

Moo...a creek and a river are 2 different things. It has been a dry summer so creek might be very low depending what feeds creek. Not sure what is meant by island since no boats are mentioned. I live in bc it has similar terrain, though not a rugged as where they were. It is easy to get lost, and I have got lost..luckily my dogs always know the way back. A child could end up lost quickly in between low growing trees, dead tree fall and undergrowth. It would be hard to find a fallen adult let alone a child....moo

I guess we'd need to see a map of the precise area to know, and a photo too. To access an island in a low-running creek, there might be stepping stones to get across on? Or maybe even children could jump it? With a river, that's less likely, unless also running very low indeed.

This is as far as I can get on Google maps with streetview, I marked with a red X. There seems to be gravel roads, possibly running along the creek on the right(?) The photo is right around where the red X is so can get a general idea of surroundings.

Replying to my old post from upthread - where thought general area might be on Tent Mtn Rd. Thinking the kids went for a walk originally, thought it might be on this road along the creek.

To the right of the road is a creek looks like. I know there's better pic out there of the creek but it's from the another campsite. I will go to Google maps again in general area as it's possible that might be the creek.

*ETA oops the old post doesn't show pics, I'll paste below again.

This is the same road (Tent Mtn Rd) better view of a creek. Unsure it's the creek or not, but is the creek that runs along Tent Mtn Rd where they were said to be close to. MIght've been slower or shallower, image below is from 2024. I think creek leads to Crowsnest Creek Falls.

I think this one is run by close friends, not family. But seems focussed and to the purpose to me. NOT full of rumours etc but more people coordinating private searches (non-SAR), debunking rumours, cutting people out who start rumours etc. MOO

Yeah it's a good group. So amazing all the searches going on. I sure hope they find him.

I know it's not allowed so I won't even attempt but there's a fbk group called Bring Darius Home which is run (and heavily monitored) by family and dear friends and at least twice a day there are posts detailing which area was searched today, both by the official SAR and (now it's allowed) by very experienced locals who show maps and pinpoint particular areas that they have covered. I'm sure you'd be able to find your information on there, I just can't bring it here for you!

It is allowed to post a link for the FB group if:

1. It was started by or is run by the family.

2. It is a public group.

Posts from the admins of the group are allowed to be quoted or copied, but posts from the commenters are not.

(Sometimes the groups are also approved when they are run by someone close to the family and authorized by the family. If there is any question about approval, "Report" and ask a mod if it is approved.)
