This is 2025. With the tools, technology and expertise we have today, it should be nearly impossible for children to just disappear. I’m not confident that all tools, technology and expertise were deployed properly in the first 48 hrs. JMO

Yet children disappear daily not only in Canada but all over the world. And, they are often not found in the first 48 hours regardless of the tools, technology etc. available.
However, I am hoping to hear some sort of an update from the RCMP regarding Lilly and Jack.

I'm wondering along those lines too. The first word that stood out to me was "seized", So different from found or discovered. I thought perhaps it was journalist's wording, but it is the wording contained in today's RCMP release.

I was to the understanding that seizure meant a taking an item from someone or somewhere without the owners consent. Legally obtained with a Search and Seizure warrant from a legal person. So was it seized from someone who found it, or from a location in someone's home or car or ??? Just reread it, "seized from a location on Landsdowne road"... query fond on someone's property?? or a house or car? Or possibly the pipeline is owned by government or gas company, then they would need a warrant to remove something from their property?

The release said a pink blanket that was seized on Lansdowne Road during the search is being forensically examined. The children's stepfather, Daniel Martell, previously told CBC News that the blanket belongs to Lilly.
"Right now, there are more than 800 tasks associated to this investigation," Staff Sgt. Rob McCamon, the acting officer in charge of major crimes and and behavioural sciences.



"A tremendous amount of careful, deliberate investigative work is underway by people here at home and in other parts of Canada. Our collective efforts will continue every day until we determine with certainty the circumstances surrounding Lilly and Jack's disappearance."

In the article you link . It states that officers are submitting judicial authorizations in order to sieze and examine materials and devices . What are judicial authorizations, is it like warrants . I'm surprised these are only being applied for recently

I seem to recall DM stating he gave his phone to investigators voluntarily. Prehaps others weren't so forthcoming

The link for his interview has been posted many times previously and when he is talking about doing the polygraph he also stated he gave the investigators everything including his phone as he felt it would help

not usually unless criminality suspected, homocide, foul play, or maybe it's just because this is a double missing children and lots of media coverage??

Could be......... I can think of a few. They would need warrants for tons of stuff in this case. Trailer searches, documents of drs, school, employment, others homes, cars, atv's , boats, properties, on and on.

Would they need a warrant for cps file or can that be just handed over without the need for a court order. Also can schools hand over information and files they have or is it best to have all the paperwork signed off by a judge to sieze in the event of a criminal trial

I think the incident that planted the seed of doubt in my mind that indicated this case was more than a wandering, was Maleyha leaving the area and breaking up with DM . If it wasn't for that on the 3rd of may I think I would have stood firmly in an opinion of the kids just getting lost .

It just threw a major spanner in the works for me

Just thought I would add this link for those of us whom aren't Canadian or don't abide there. Just explains a bit about the work the NCMPUR do

The National Centre for Missing Persons and Unidentified Remains (NCMPUR) is Canada's national centre that provides law enforcement, medical examiners and chief coroners with specialized investigative services in support of missing persons and unidentified remains investigations.

As part of its operations, the NCMPUR manages:

• The national Missing Children/Persons and Unidentified Remains (MC/PUR) Database, which includes data on missing persons and unidentified remains investigations from across the country.
• The provision of investigational advice and case analysis to law enforcement partners.
• The national public website to provide information on selected cases to the public for the purposes of seeking tips on investigations.
• The provision of enhanced specialized services to investigators of primary jurisdiction such as the Travel Reunification Program, and Facial Approximation, analysis and access to the National Missing Persons DNA Program

The NCMPUR resides within the RCMP's Canadian Police Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (CPCMEC).

I must correct myself… they might not necessarily need a specific warrant for each specific thing. They could have a warrant to cover most of investigation, and they can seize an article and get a warrant later, not letting the article out of their possession.
More importantly, Iwish we could get a glimpse of that piece of fabric.

Not sure. I wonder if the legal guardian has a say, or does investigation superseded her? Is MBM still the legal guardian? Can you be if your charges are missing?

usually there is some level of granted access but this widely varies between states

Not sure. I wonder if the legal guardian has a say, or does investigation superseded her? Is MBM still the legal guardian? Can you be if your charges are missing?

You can have legal guardianship without physical guardianship if there were supervision in place for example.

Having missing children doesn’t mean losing guardianship
