Saturday marks three months since Lilly Sullivan, 6, and Jack Sullivan, 4, disappeared from their home in Lansdowne Station, N.S.

RCMP says there are no new updates on the case as they declined an interview request with CTV News on Friday – and declined to answer any questions via email.

The force referred CTV News to its July 16 news release, which said about 5,000 video files were being reviewed, more than 600 public tips were being assessed and at least 60 people have been interviewed – some undergoing a polygraph test.

“A police service never gives up on a case like this,” says Lewis, the former commissioner of the Ontario Provincial Police.

“It may get a little colder, with no new leads or nothing more to follow up. But over time, you take another look at it. You balance it all out in terms of the latest technology and forensics, and you get fresh eyes looking at it.

“That’s never going to end,” he says.

*****
Lewis says it could be a missed opportunity when police declined to comment on the three-month anniversary of the children’s disappearance.

“I find that rather odd that they wouldn’t put someone before the camera to at least help bring some attention to it from a public perspective,” he tells CTV News. “But then again, we don’t know what else they have going on in terms of their ability to get somebody before a camera.”
As I've said before, I think there's a lot going on behind the scenes here. I think they are close

Just a thought. Deceitful actions, manipulating and inconsistencies may look unorganized, chaotic, even ridiculous to bystanders. But sometimes it's a tactic, which as a result may complicate an investigation & prolong the process of solving the case by following the endless leads, the false ones intertwined with true ones, which makes the truth increasingly difficult to unravel.

I wonder what this comment means? What would prevent an Officer or spokesperson making a statement?

I have to ask, who's deceitful actions, manipulations and inconsistencies are you referring to?

What he’s referring to I think is what’s been discussed here, a public plea by one or more family members for information to assist the RCMP in solving the children’s disappearance. Maleyha is the closest bio-connection so if she isn’t willing to be involved (or can’t for some reason) in supporting efforts such as that, this would no doubt present an obstacle in the RCMP’s ability to get somebody before a camera.

The person quoted is not involved in the investigation however it is quite typical for police to elevate awareness of unsolved cases on their anniversary dates.

Anyone's prone to committing said actions. IMO.

Bolded and colored the part that im commenting on.
Imo that is called a cold case and i find it odd we are talking in those words already when it's only been three months.

Yes but the former commissioner of the OPP is clearly not privy to the current status of the Nova Scotia RCMP’s investigation, definitely not their spokesperson <modsnip>

Hopefully time will tell what happened to these two beautiful children. It would be sad if it were never to recieve closure and their families left in the bleak unknown.

The weirdest part for me in this case is the radio silence from those whom could give a voice, not for the public benefit but for themselves .

Imo the louder the voice the more things get done . Silence from those that matter doesn't get cadaver dogs into the area . Silence from the guardian doesn't get the children heard jmho

As per information in the article previously posted regarding mbm not having contact with RCMP since about day 3 . I hope its not born from a stubbornness not to engage because the RCMP didn't take her up on the want for an Amber alert jmho

I've not seen any MS articles written that MBM has not had contact with the RCMP, only that she has not spoken to media. Do you perhaps have a link to the article you're referring to?

I may have missed that of course, but I would think that would be a lede in any article written by MS about these kids.

I haven't seen that in the MSM either.

How would anyone possibly know who spoke with the RCMP and when except for the RCMP? And that isn’t the type of information they’ve ever released to the public so IMO I’d take the source with a grain of salt.

I will try find the article it was definitely 100% posted a few pages back in one of the msm articles.

Honestly I know I did see it in a msm article in July that mbm had not had continued communication with the rcmp . I didn't use any SM source in this case . And I normally don't pay any attention to what is said on social media sites anyway as its full of gossip.

But seen as I can't find it and cant back it up with a link we will go with your surety of source being taken with a grain of salt . Don't want unverified statements infiltrating facts .

Cheers for pointing out

@su5ie Here's what I think you saw - because I interpreted it the same way.... "an RCMP family liaison is in regular contact with a designated relative of Lilly and Jack to provide updates and support. She would not say who the relative is."*

It's a very unusual and purposely vague statement; I interpreted it to mean... "MBM is not in contact with the RCMP at this point." However, it doesn't exactly say that...

Or maybe this news report? But I think it’s Daniel who’s not been in contact with her - way back as at May 28th, the date of the article. It can’t be MBM having no contact with the RCMP if their liaison officer is in contact with her.

“Despite not having had contact with the children’s mother, Maleya Brooks-Murray, since May 3 when she left the search area, Martell said an RCMP liaison has been assigned to keep them both informed as the investigation progresses.”

Every morning I check for updates on this case - it is heartbreaking that 3 months on these children don't have justice

I agree. I think they are focused on someone and being quiet not to tip anyone off. Let's hope!

I dunno. They could say something as short and simple as “we’re making good progress in this investigation”. Something, anything. I wish I could feel more optimistic but nothing to say reminds me too much of the old adage, if there’s nothing good to say then don’t say anything at all.
