The only corroboration I can think of, is supposedly, DM's mom said she thinks she heard the kids playing in the yard that morning? Do I have that right?

Not that it would be ironclad evidence anyway. It's worded in a way that gives her wiggle room if she needs it.

But we didn't hear her say that she engaged with them, face to face, for example.
I just feel that they never made it home. Which leaves a huge area to cover for searching. Which is an impossible feat.

Two reasons I thought it was proven the children indeed made it home but I’ve forgotten the source as memories go blurry. But I recall it’s been discussed here on these threads, this is not a new theory.
1. On May 1st didn’t MBM”s mother talk to her daughter on Facetime after they got home and she confirmed saw the children during that call?
2. The RCMP tracked the cellphone from New Glasgow to know precisely the minute they got home. As the vehicle passed from cellphone tower to cellphone tower they’d be able to determine any unaccounted for lags in driving time.

Most of the content in this article is the same as in other recent articles, just a few things BBM I hadn't thought about before or am mulling over anew and wonder:

(1) Why would RCMP decide they needed to ask MBM if DM had been physically abusive? Unless this is a standard line of inquiry when two children go missing from home? Or felt they needed to rule out DV potentially being perpetrated by DM against household members? And the possibility DV could be one possible scenario under which Lilly and Jack may have disappeared?

(2) Could any of the more than 8,000 video files including from motion-activated trail cameras have "new" footage which could be relevant to the investigation the public hasn't heard about since earlier? When LE said there was no trail-cam (or neighborhood house cam?) evidence of:
(a) Lilly and Jack being in the woods? or
(b) What their 2 neighbors testified about hearing/seeing DM in his vehicle coming and going in the night before they disappeared?

Stepfather of missing Nova Scotia children charged with sexually assaulting an adult

HALIFAX — The stepfather of two Nova Scotia children reported missing more than eight months ago has been charged with sexual assault, assault and forcible confinement involving an adult victim, RCMP confirmed Thursday.
Michael MacDonald, The Canadian Press Jan 29, 2026 1:14 PM
.....
Earlier this month, the Nova Scotia Judiciary released partially unsealed court documents that include excerpts from police interviews with Brooks-Murray, who was asked on May 9 if Martell had been “physically abusive.” during their three-year relationship.
....
Meanwhile, RCMP have said investigators continue to assess hundreds of tips from the public and more than 8,000 video files, including footage recorded by motion-activated trail cameras and dashcam footage.

New from CBC this morning:

Interesting article and well worth a read. It includes interviews with Malehya's mother and her close friends. It also has some video and new pictures of Lilly and Jack.

MOO
Thank you for sharing. This is very in depth. This is the best information we’ve been able to see related to MBM and how she is doing. It is good to know MBM has good friends supporting her.

IMO

On the morning of May 2, 2025, Brooks-Murray called 911 to report that Lilly, 6, and Jack, then 4, had gone missing from the rural home she shared with her boyfriend, Daniel Martell, and their baby daughter.

If DM is (was) responsible for everything, as he claims, why didn't HE call 911? He's so articulate and loves to talk. It's strange that he, as the man of the house, didn't call them. MOO

Probably so he could go looking for them. He was not at the house when LE arrived that morning. He'd allegedly been out looking for them.

So, no trail of boot prints. Just a cluster.

I watched both interviews in last few posts. Interesting about the cluster of footprints! All this time, it had been reported it was just one, now we hear it was a cluster. I keep changing my outlook on this case. I noticed in the latest D. interview that he nodded his head when asked if he physically abused M., but said no. Of course, body language isn't an exact science but just noting that. I keep changing my mind about this case, and now I don't have any theory in particular. I did get the impression that M's friends and D all think the kids are definitely not in the woods though.IMO

No one but them (DM & MBM) said after the store video the afternoon before (last proof of life) that Lilly and Jack were at home the next morning, when MBM said she noticed it was too quiet and called 911 and they told LE upon arrival Lilly (6) and Jack (4) must have slipped out the quiet back sliding door and then been outside playing and then wandered into the woods.

However, IIRC, MBM said she remembered Lilly coming in and out of their bedroom that morning while they were sleeping in, and DM's mother who lived nearby/within earshot said she heard them playing outside that morning, so there's that.

Regarding the question "did they made it home" the night before, perhaps LE has an answer based on their investigation, nothing has been publicly stated.

JMO, discussed with MSM links upthread.
CM in the documents stated she called mbms phone and allegedly had a video call with lilly and jack at about 4.00pm ( cant remember exact time ) on the Thursday so that makes CM the last person outside of those on the property to see/ hear the kids

Interestingly in the article Cyndy states she last saw her grandchildren at Easter and had an egg hunt and made them dinner .

Why no mention of seeing them on the video call on the Thursday.?

Maybe I'm nitpicking and she just meant in person but in the circumstances surely the last time she seen them alive is what's important in the course of the investigation

If she did not see them on the Thursday over video call that is an important detail as it then leaves the Dollarama footage as the last known sighting outside of mbm and DM and that leaves a lot of time before the rcmp were called at 10.01 am on Friday.

While the article was good in so far as we now know what happened for mbm to end up in the back of an ambulance.

Imo it was more of a Maleyha is innocent fluff piece . And sn account of where , how and what she has being doing since .

If the family feel the children were abducted. How does that tie in with the clumps of prints and the blanket and where and how do they feel they were taken ?

RCMP stated there was no evidence to support that theory so I'm assuming they checked for vehicle activity around the property.

If they were abducted on foot , it must be someone local who knows the trails and with so few homes on landsdowne Road and most occupied by DMs family who do they suspect took them ?

Imo direct or indirect homicide is most likely and if the rcmp can't verify vehicle activity during the night and relatively dismiss the neighbours tips surely they can also attest to no vehicle picking up the kids at the end of the yard

Glad to see someone else mention this, as it was tripping me up too. She did say that the Zoom call, or whatever digital provider they used, the day before the kids went missing didn't stand out because it was otherwise normal. I took that at face value and thought that meant she chatted with the kids, or at the very least heard/saw them during the call. I feel like if she didn't, she wouldn't have described the call as "normal" to LE.

edit: it was Facebook, not zoom.

I think it's been interpreted as she seen the kids , I would have to scroll back through reams of posts to check . So if anyone has a factual link or better memory than me could they help a gal out in finding the exact details of that call

I know she said she spoke with mbm multiple times a day as we had chatted about whether or not that was normal between mothers and daughters 3 threads or so ago .

But did CM specifically say she chatted / seen the kids in that call on Thurs afternoon?

ETA
We all know about the docs and most have probably seen them this is a copy on CG Can't find them anywhere else , thank you to the person who gave to me , you know who you are 💗

Regarding the video call cyndy states she called to see the kids but she does not say she did 🤔

I always felt the kids could have been dumped alive at a remote location near the pipeline as a " punishment/ discipline " method and began jumping up and down in terror . It would explain clumps of footprints but would not explain why no tire tracks or other prehaps adult footprints around the clumps

I recall speculation that the clump of footprints might’ve been left by a child belonging to a local person who assisted on an unofficial search and then perhaps never came forward later. ie told their child to ‘just stand here and wait’! That’s a good reason why police often don’t welcome locals people to randomly assist with missing person searches.

I think it was in the initial document dump, iirc the first time MBM called her she missed it because she was in the barn. But I don’t think it’s important enough to go searching for it, she might have retracted what she recalled since what’s told to police is never written in stone. Maybe she later decided she misremembered and it was another day, especially as apparently the two talked everyday.
