CANADA Canada - Jack, 4 & Lily Sullivan, 6, Vulnerable, wandered from home 10am, Gairloch Rd, Landsdowne Station, Pictou County, NS, 2 May 2025

I’m not sure of the Canadian school system but over here in the UK

A 4 year old would be in Nursery - they are only entitled to 15 free hours per week (unless both parents work then they get 30 hours) so if the system is similar to here it could just be that he wasn’t due in that day.

I’m also very uncomfortable at this point
Or pre-school.

I think it's a safe assumption that media/journalists and the families are aware of the biological father and his location and are choosing not to speak about this because it's simply not relevant to the missing children.
My opinion only: I can't wrap my head around how the biological father's status/location would be irrelevant to a missing child investigation. Even if he's deceased or imprisoned, it's theoretically possible that a paternal family member is involved or knows something about the children's disappearance. I don't mind the media keeping those details private, but it does seem strange that nobody on his side of the family has made any public statements (that I've seen, anyway).

I wonder how frequently cars drive by around 10am on a Friday? I can't see any driver IGNORING the fact that 2 small children were on the road, alone at that time! I also think that they would be fearful of cars driving by at that speed.
I was born and raised on a similar rural road in this region. While there isn't a steady stream of cars, there are likely cars going by every 1-2 minutes, And you are completely right - most "locals" would immediately recognize and react to the danger of seeing young children on the road. Kids at that age are never allowed on the road - ever, ever, ever! There are no sidewalks and only a narrow gravel shoulder in some places... It's rare to see ANYONE walking on the side of the road.

OT, but related to the eloping issue: when I was 5, I snuck out the front door and decided to “visit my dad at work.” He worked on a farm quite a distance away from our house and the road I was on was quite busy for a country road. NOT ONE person stopped. It wasn’t until a guy we had living with us was coming home from working on the farm stopped and picked me up.

My mom was sleeping on the couch right by the door when I walked out. She’s a light sleeper and didn’t notice I left.

Where’s “back home” for these children anyway? The boyfriend’s trailer if their mother has left wouldn’t be my preference but JMO. Just an all around terrible situation that they haven’t been found after five days.

“The children are members of the Sipekne’katik First Nation, according to chief Michelle Glasgow.

“Please help bring Lily and Jack back home,” Glasgow said on social media.

My previous reply to this was deleted for not including a link - sorry about that! According to this article, the stepfather stated that the mom blocked him on social media:

On Facebook, blocking someone while your relationship status is linked to their profile will result in what you saw, so I'm guessing she took a single action (blocking him) rather than going to the effort to change her relationship status as well. Personally, I'm much more interested in why she blocked him and left the area than the relationship status change.
I'm confused, the mom of the missing kids blocked step-dad or bio-dad on fb? Recently?

Grandmother of missing kids, aged 4 and 6, speaks out

'We're just hoping and praying for the best,' says Cyndy Murray

From your link:

"We're just hoping and praying for the best — that's it — for our babies to come home," Cyndy Murray said in a brief phone interview, adding that police have advised the family against speaking with the public.

Murray is the grandmother of six-year-old Lily Sullivan and four-year-old Jack Sullivan, who were last seen Friday morning. Her daughter is the children's mother, Malehya Brooks-Murray.

I agree. They have his last name and it’s know that the step dad isn’t bio dad so it’s strange to me that it’s not discussed at all unless LE has requested it remain out. I don’t believe we will see this as relevant though unfortunately

For those looking for answers on search area, look at 24 flight tracker. Yesterday whole area was "lit up" with air rescue hovering above mine shafts in Cape Breton and helicopters above PEI extending to eastern Quebec. Look at 24 flight tracker for information for search and rescue.

Yes it is day 5
There are some bodies of water close to the property. One being a pretty large lake, Lake Lansdowne just north of the property. There has been helicopter activity in and around the area as we speak

I find that quote from their mother devastating. If there were tracks heading towards the road and there has been such a thorough search, that brings up even more unanswered questions. It is almost incomprehensible to think how Jack and Lily could still be missing if they were around. Waiting for answers and hoping for a safe resolution soon.
How could anyone see tracks on the property near the house? The parents claim that the children played outside often. Their tracks should be everywhere and therefore meaningless.

Daniel Martell has been dating the children’s mother for three years and they have an 18-month-old together.

Martell says Lily and Jack never go into the woods by themselves. He describes them as vulnerable and autistic.

“We never cross the road. We have cabins we built up in the woods, and that’s where, usually, as far as we take them,” he says.

Martell says he and Malehya Brooks-Murray asked Lily and Jack to quiet down on Friday morning to let the baby sleep.

He estimates it took up to 20 minutes to notice the two children were gone.

I believe there might have been fresh tracks since it has raining in the area.

“Searchers are dealing with challenging conditions, including rough terrain, thick brush, and fluctuating weather. Rain overnight, as well as ticks, sun and cool temperatures, have all affected the operation.”
