CANADA Canada - Jack, 4 & Lily Sullivan, 6, Vulnerable, wandered from home 10am, Gairloch Rd, Landsdowne Station, Pictou County, NS, 2 May 2025

^^^ Updated article from today.
Snipped: MacKinnon said searchers located what could be a footprint on Saturday and have expanded their search effort in that area.
Snipped:
He said members of the public can help with the search effort by checking sheds, culverts and ditches on their properties.
"That's the thing to check, but we just don't have the capacity to accept walk-up volunteers," said Wiese. "This is a very managed search."

There are a lot of rivers, streams, and small lakes in the area.
The weather has barely made it over 9 c and is only 2c tonight with thunderstorms.
Hope there found soon.
I am praying these darling children are alive but I am definitely fearing the worst after all this time plus that temperature 😢
From the description of what they were possibly wearing, no coats in 2c temperature? I know it gets a heck of a lot colder in Canada at times but 2c is VERY cold without outer clothing! If someone "kind" had found them, they'd have alerted authority by now! 😔

Totally agree. I too am fearing the worst for these two little ones as too much time has lapsed. But, we can always hope.

I'm just hoping that these little ones instinctively searched out a warm(er) protected space and curled up with each other for warmth and comfort .....under some brush, or a log, or in a semi cave like spot. Other little kids have been found alive after two or so nights.
Wishful thinking?

These poor children have been on my mind all weekend. I was born and raised on a similar rural road relatively close to this location. What I can add is that the nearby forested areas are usually very thick and difficult to traverse. There are numerous logging roads and clear cuts, but otherwise I believe that it would be very, very difficult for a four-year-old to travel through these woods for a significant distance - and I say this as a parent of two kids who were recently this age. Anecdotally, when my youngest "wandered off", they headed straight for the road, not the forest.

With a precise last location (their back door), there have been 100+ searchers plus numerous dogs and drones for nearly 3 days... and yet nothing. At this point, I believe that it's unlikely that they are still nearby and that there's an increasing possibility of foul play. The mother (yesterday on FB) and the step-father (today) seem to both be learning in that direction as well. I don't find this to be suspicious at all - but rather just a more likely scenario, given the landscape and elapsed time.

I was starting to wonder if something nefarious happened. But, since you explained about the landscape, I don’t know.

Could be emotion, but this does tell me she does not trust the authorities working on the case.

Whether that distrust is reasonable or irrational is a question that cannot be answered from MSM information, IMO.

A mother with children missing will be desperate for all possible resources to help find them. I find absolutely nothing wrong with her requesting an amber alert. However, I suspect that the wee kids are in the woods. There is sooo much forest.

I am wondering when the children were last seen at school. Or for that matter when was the last time someone besides the mother and BF saw them? Would Friday have been a school day for them?

From the CTV article, per the mother:
They’re both really happy-go-lucky children. They’re so sweet. They talk to anyone. They’ll talk your ear off. They will speak to anyone in a store, everyone. They’re just extremely sweet kids,” said Brooks-Murray.

"They do have possible autism, but it’s not extreme autism. It’s just they have issues with school and they don’t catch up with the other kids.”

Good questions as to when the children were last in school (at least the six year old) and last seen by anyone other than the mother and bf. I have read and followed too many cases…

I wish I knew more about Canadian social services (perhaps this is the case where I learn); if this case were American I’d be asking if this family had past case history with DYFS, or its various permutations on a state-by-state basis.

It is called Child Welfare in Canada. Most likely if the children are not found shortly, I would assume the police will be checking with the school and child welfare pretty quick. If they have not done so already,it being the third day.

I would be very surpised if no trace was found. Per multiple articles, the kids went out in pull on rainboots and the girl probably had a little backpack. There were stock pictures of those items in the articles, and those items were all brightly colored. ‘We just want them home’: Mother of missing children in Nova Scotia’s Pictou County pleads for safe return
There is a high likleyhood of a small kid to loosing a pull on rainboot in dense, thick forest and dropping any item they are carrying.

This brings up the more nefarious reasons for disappearance. If the kids did go out the sliding door while the adults in the house were sleeping, any crime by another person would 100% be a crime of chance.
