If something nefarious had happened and you were responsible, I think you’d tell a story much more favorable to yourself than “we were asleep and maybe not properly supervising.” That being said, when my kids were little, they got up before me and entertained themselves. One time my son made himself cereal…in the colander. 😂 But generally it was just fine. My bedroom was 10 feet away from them.

One thing I wonder…why did they put on their boots? Was it muddy? Were they expecting their feet to get wet? Are those the only shoes they could easily locate? I feel like they impulsively went outside because they saw someone or something that was interesting. (The backpack thing is unimportant. Lots of little girls do that. Of course, it’s also possible that she thought she was going to school.)
I disagree I feel like the story in these situations is always they were sleeping

I find it odd that the Step-Father is saying that he fears that they were abducted. Children aren't usually abducted in pairs, or dress themselves to go outside to be abducted or pack a knapsack beforehand. I hope that they did wander off on an 'adventure' and that it's not anything worse!
A couple of other questions...does he have other children of his own and where is Jack and Lily's biological Dad? You would think that he would be making an appeal as well, if he is in the picture!
This is a good point. If the children got their boots on, packed up and went outside, that would be quite the exact timing for someone driving in the area where kids were home from school and where they were willing to abduct 2 children.

But it does happen. Children are abducted in pairs. Even three together have been abducted before. I truly think any family in this situation would be worried/thinking about abduction.

No gut feeling on this one.....could be walked away like the little Oregon boy last month, next higher percentage given the odds is BF involved (we have seen this before) and on the low end stranger abduction......almost would need perfect timing for the stars to align. I do not get the sleeping in to 10 with young ones....I worked two jobs and still got up early on the weekends to allow my wife extra sleep....

I would like to know who, aside from the parents, saw these children last, when and where. Has that been reported?
NO, I don't believe we've received that information in MSM as yet. of course the usual social media rumors are swirling, but nothing official about that excellent question.

but who knew they would be at home on a weekday morning when they would normally be expected at school (and preschool)?

ETA I'm sorry and I am not pointing fingers at anyone. Just pointing out what are to me, inconsistencies and things that don't make sense (to me)

Do we know whether searchers used heat seeking equipment from the air? Particularly during the first two nights?
I'm thinking of two recent cases where a child was found that way, they even published photos showing the child lit up. I believe one was found in a cornfield.

Also the bio Dad to these two is there any custody battle going on?

live-in boyfriend, new baby...
weekday, no adult working, no child at school...

<modsnip - quoted post was removed

It has not been confirmed that they were out of school for a week, only that Lily did not attend school on Friday because she was unwell with a cough.

Okay, thank you. It can be easy to get lost in misinformation. I wonder why Jack did not attend school, was he also sick?

I’ve just caught up on this thread - I hope I’m wrong but I have a really bad feeling about this case.

I want to know when the children were last seen by anybody other than mum & her boyfriend. The story just isn’t adding up to me (I really hope im wrong)

Do mom or live-in boyfriend have jobs?

I've only seen they missed school Friday because one had a cough -<modsnip - quoted post snipped because it's rumor> I have mixed feelings about keeping both kids home when one is "sick." Putting sick in quotation marks because I'm not sure a cough qualifies - it could be from allergies, asthma, etc. On one hand, if someone in the family is sick it seems courteous to leave all kids home. On the other hand, as a mom of three, I realize that's not always feasible.

I wish I had more to add but I don't know how to feel about any of this at this point in time. Uneasy, if I had to label it.

<modsnip - quoted post was snipped because of rumors>

The only verified info seems to be is that Lily had a cough and did not go to school Friday.

There's new information today that is a game-changer for me: The mother has left to be with her family in another part of the province and has blocked the stepfather on social media.
This is extremely suspicious to me.

"Meanwhile, Martell said the two children are outgoing and get along well. They came to live with him two years ago, he said. “They’ll talk to anyone. They’re just looking to have as much fun as they can …. Jack just absolutely loves bugs, dinosaurs and anything like that,” he said, his voice cracking with emotion. “But Lily loves girlie things, but she also loved doing everything with Jack. They’re like best friends, not just brother and sister.” Martell said that since the disappearance, the children’s mother has left to be with her family in another part of the province and has blocked him on social media. “I’m feeling terrible, just like the last few days,” he said. “It’s just me on my own with my family out here …. I don’t know why she left.” Martell said Lily and Jack would not have made it far in the woods on their own. “They would have found them in the woods by now,” he said. “So I’m urging the public to come forward if they have anything to say or to offer .… I don’t think they’d make it far. As soon as they get their clothes or boots wet, they immediately want to take them off and go back inside the house.”

So strange indeed. Why would you leave the place where your kids have gone missing, where there's a massive search for them going on? I know some people will say because of the media/ doubt being thrown her way, but if she's telling the truth, what is there to run from?

From the moment I got the alert, I felt something was really off. It made no sense at the time (dates were off, little detail) and this add on is just bizzare.

Certainly a game changer for me as well. I thought something might be odd or nefarious but I wanted to stay positive. I can’t believe the mother would leave the place where her children went missing. Does she know her children won’t be found??

I noticed that too ie. stepfather kept saying different things, conflicting times, where there was a boot print etc…the stories kept changing.
