Would they not be wearing pajamas as the parents were still sleeping? I cannot imagine a 4 and 6 year old choosing outfits and dressing themselves before escaping. Were their coats also missing?
I am fearful the longer there is no news.

I was dressing myself at 4, so it’s not that big of a stretch to assume these children did as well.

Four RCMP drone operators worked overnight Tuesday in Pictou County as part of the ongoing search.

Police say the drones are effective at night because they use infrared technology which can spot differences in temperature.

Couple of questions and if already addressed upthread - I apologize. How long had the children lived at this location? How long had stepdad's mother lived out there - how far away is her house? Were the kids big "explorers"? I'm just thinking - they are up, they are bored maybe - they decide to go on an adventure or exploring. Depending on the relationship - they may or may not have walked over to "grandma's" house to say good morning, get a cookie or apple, or pet the dog or whatever. How big an area could they have walked around in before coming to another house/farm or highway? Could anyone tell at all what Lily may have put in her backpack?

Since police have helicopters, drones, dogs, and more than 100 people searching the area around their house, I don't think it is unusual the mom left with the baby to a more quiet area. The police probably told her to do so, since her house is grand central station currently. I'm sure the police have her contact info and will let her know immediately if they find anything.

- They moved into "his house" approximately two years ago.
- No further details about other family members living on the property - this was news that came out yesterday in a Globe & Mail article (national newspaper).
- The stepfather has repeatedly stated that they NOT explorers or outdoorsy. He said they always play within a fenced-in backyard.
- According to Google Maps, the closest houses to the South are ~500m away (a 6-minute walk for adults); these are on the same side of the road as their house. The closest house to the North is about 2 km away.
- There is no further information about the backpack or items that were wearing/carrying.

A small update from today's CBC article: The kids were home from school both Thursday and Friday.

The school was closed on Wednesday according to their Facebook page (I assume this is allowed since it’s directly from the schools page?)

I wonder how frequently cars drive by around 10am on a Friday? I can't see any driver IGNORING the fact that 2 small children were on the road, alone at that time! I also think that they would be fearful of cars driving by at that speed.

I think it's a safe assumption that media/journalists and the families are aware of the biological father and his location and are choosing not to speak about this because it's simply not relevant to the missing children.

My previous reply to this was deleted for not including a link - sorry about that! According to this article, the stepfather stated that the mom blocked him on social media:

Martell said that since the disappearance, the children’s mother has left to be with her family in another part of the province and has blocked him on social media.

“I’m feeling terrible, just like the last few days,” he said. “It’s just me on my own with my family out here …. I don’t know why she left.”

On Facebook, blocking someone while your relationship status is linked to their profile will result in what you saw, so I'm guessing she took a single action (blocking him) rather than going to the effort to change her relationship status as well. Personally, I'm much more interested in why she blocked him and left the area than the relationship status change.
