Also, I don't understand how the US has any right to enter Mexico because of its cartel problem.

You and me both. And anyone with half a brain. But has DT even got that much?

It would be cool if Prince William's tie had tiny little red maple leaves on it, like King Charles's famous tie with the little T. Rex's on it.

We gave him cufflinks. :)

I"ve been listening and watching serious commentators and I think Trump sees himself as having taken over a huge and important corporation: he is the Chairman and CEO of the USA, Inc.

So he does what the bold, brash CEOs do: shake up the company to get rid of 'dead wood', define the core mission and jettison anything that doesn't directly improve the bottom line, identify and target the competitors, put pressure on suppliers to get better deals or eliminate external suppliers by a take-over and do it in house...

The obvious problems are
- a nation is not a business
- he's never been a CEO of even a complicated business
- Most business turn-arounds happen over 15 years, not 4...

So, I think the chaos is a result, not the intention...

But he will certainly work to prevent himself from being challenged as Chairman and CEO.

people in the US go through phases were they want to "run the govt like a business" ... "lean and mean" etc. They forget, or never think, IMO, that it is the govt that has to deal with the unemployed, the homeless, the disabled, etc. And BTW:

Fired federal workers will likely be eligible for unemployment

Feb 19, 2025 — Generally, workers can receive unemployment benefits even when employers claims they were fired for poor performance.

So is the US better with these people not working and getting unemployment?

The problem arises when the CEO starts talking , and acting, like a common shoplifter,, the very scourge of companies across the board.. When one looks at other peoples assets as if they should be in their pocket, because, well, they are just sitting on a shelf, or the goods are crying out to be stolen, or, .. the goods would look better on my mantlepiece rather than in your showroom, ... or , and the final idiocy of the incorrigible thief.. 'I like it, so it really ought to belong to me' then normal discourse has disappeared..

Every day in Walmarts and Kmarts across the USA security is dealing with redfaced folks, babbling in the office, usually in handcuffs, all saying the same thing Donald Trump is saying.. ' I just wanted it.. it looked nice, I came in here and it was just laying there, it looked like it wanted to be mine.....officer, don't tighten those cuffs!.'.....

This is not a 'business man'. Trump is the only person on earth who has gone bankrupt running a casino. There is not another org, or person who has managed this. When the 'house always wins' , he somehow manages to lose, and how this is portrayed as successful I simply cannot fathom.

Anyways the Dow-Jones is crawling in the gutter, the unemployment rate in the USA is 4..9% and rapidly rising, ( next months figures will be horrendous ) the Chinese and Mexican and Canadian Tariffs kick in today, lets see what eggs cost in a week, and now Saudi Arabia is clucking on about tariffs on petroleum.. And Americans are getting a bit antsy, and it hasn't even started yet.. It is nearly Spring in the USA , traditionally the time of folks getting out and hollering in the streets.

And you know who is calmly sailing on, rewriting lucrative contracts, being consistently pleasant and well mannered, discussing matters with clarity and focus ? Not entering into any argy bargy sneery nonsense, just building solid and workable outcomes , threatening no one, minding their own business?.. Xi Jinping, and the new premier of China, Li Qiang , a man worth watching, particularly if you live in the USA ...

Gotta love (hate) this post by Trump.

He's making up fake facts regarding tariffs charged by Canada. The 250% tariff that he mentions is a previously agreed upon tariff (agreed upon by Trump) that only apply to massive excessive dumping of dairy products in Canada. The US hasn't even come close to those levels so they experience 0% tariffs on the dairy products they have sent to Canada.
Regarding the Ontario electricity surcharge, well, that was only because TRUMP declared 25% tariffs on almost all products from Canada. And he expects Canada to just sit there and take his bullying.
Yeah, no. We're done with you Donald and anyone that supports you. "Love" Canada.

It looks to me like Danielle Smith, the Alberta politician is going to suffer from the same silliness as Poiloivre, a case of too much aping and copying of Trumpishness, too much for Albertans to swallow , apparently. These people who , for some ridiculous reason imagine that attaching themselves to the vapid mouthings of Donald somehow enhances their own credentials are becoming, in the words of one former AU PM a 'conga line of sycophants..'

It's not just Danielle, the Tories in Britain fell for it, that's why they are now , for all purposes completely unelectable. Kemi Badenoch will forever be in opposition, as her antecedents found out, Johnson, May, Truss, Sunak, and the opposition in Australia is finding out, the stench just does not go away.. Everyone is watching Donald and saying, dear god, not here, not ever... in many ways, he is doing us all a favour, Canada, NZ, England, AU, France, .. even the French decided that Le Pen was too much Donaldish to bear and they usually give anything a go...

It's one thing to make loud, wild, false and ludicrous claims on a campaign trail.

It's quite another to make those kind of claims against sovereign nations on a world stage for all to hear.

He sounds scared 🤡🤣

He sounds demented.

Edited to add:

I would like to apologize to the world for what his enablers hath wrought.

I've said it before: DJT is akin to a rattlesnake, or a tornado. He is what he is.

I don't blame him (mostly) for the mess we're in today. Psychopaths gonna psycho.

All the blame goes to Republicans who knew better and could have stopped him when they had the chance, but were too cowardly or ambitious to do so.

Looking at you (for example) James Lankford. DJT threw you under the bus by tanking the bipartisan border reform bill you authored, but if you've uttered a peep against him I haven't seen it.

The Alberta Premier is using Alberta taxpayer money to rub shoulders with right-wing USA media and attend a Gala that is clearly a fund raiser for right-wing Trump supporters. She claims that she's doing this to deal with tariffs, but that's really hard to believe.

"Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is set to share the stage with American political commentator Ben Shapiro at an event hosted by a conservative non-profit in Florida later this month.

Smith and Shapiro are scheduled to speak at PragerU’s 2025 East Coast Gala on March 27. Shapiro is the founder and editor-in-chief of The Daily Wire—a right-wing American media company—and host of The Ben Shapiro Show.
...

“Given this travel will be part of the premier’s advocacy in the U.S., the costs for the premier’s travel and accommodations will be covered by Alberta’s government.” This is the only event scheduled during the premier’s trip to Florida, and she is not receiving a speaker fee, according to her office.
...

Alberta NDP Leader Naheed Nenshi criticized Smith’s attendance at the event, calling Shapiro an “extremist.” “Danielle Smith loves nothing more than hanging out with right-wing extremists in the United States,” Nenshi told reporters. “It’s where she gets her policy ideas. It’s where she gets her talking points. And it’s very clear it’s where she’s auditioning for her post-premier life.”

What a crazy thing to say!

Did Trump write this: "and your not even allowed to do that"???
Is he an angry texting?

Is the USA going to put 25% tariff on electricity going to the USA? Doug Ford said he'll increase the surcharge if he has to, and he'll shut the electricity down completely if the USA doesn't back off.

If the USA puts a 25% tariff on electricity, this triggers tariffs in other provinces that supply electricity to other states. Then what? Will those states see a surcharge as well?

The USA needs the electricity. Putting tariffs on that electricity means the buyer in the USA will pay for it. The USA increases the price for electricity by adding a fee to the seller/supplier (Canada) of the electricity. The seller has no choice but to pass the extra fee to the buyer (USA). How does the USA figure that this will make them richer?

What is the USA doing? It looks like they are shooting themselves in the foot not just once, but again and again.

They’re certainly entitled to it. They’ve paid into the system like everyone else.

What about all those people who believe what the government tells them? I think there are many who assume that the USA government provides accurate and truthful information.

Many probably think there is no reason to doubt the government. They don't realize that they are being fed propaganda for the purpose of unifying them against an inauthentic enemy. They can't see that propaganda is used against them so that they support and endorse irrational federal decisions, all of which will ultimately harm the people of the USA - one way or another.

Maybe he did write that, instead of the correct "you're", yes he probably did. Also "electricity", which doesn't need quotation marks, as most people know, because that is its real name, not a nickname or whatever. But there must have been a fellow texter, as Donald wouldn't even know the words "despite" and "reciprocal". Where was he educated again?
PS Or should I say "educated"?

He seems like a bit of a dry-drunk angry texter who has a brain spasm, writes something absurd, and fires it off to the entire country. He wakes up the next morning, re-thinks it, and fires off something completely contradictory. That's the best I can make of his lurching and stumbling tariffs.

He repeatedly says so many things that are not true that it's boring to repeatedly correct his false statements.

There's the POTUS re-writing history once again and slapping his "look at me, I'm always the victim" card onto the table. In this case, "look at Canada, we are their victims". Likewise with Europe: POTUS slaps tariffs on them, but then plays the victim when they retaliate (prescription drugs etc as done today). FAKE NEWS.

Look at the lies in a mere one tweet!

1) Dairy surcharges of 250-390% are applicable only to those US quantities entering Canada after the agreed upon USMCA volume entering has been met. The quantities that exceed that volume then fall into the 'dumping' category. This has never happened and never will, as sourced numerous times in this thread already, because Canada already produces and supplies all of our own dairy needs. Rant looks good on paper though (a call to not-actually-being-victimized base);

2) "Your not even allowed to do that". LMAO ... says the guy that slapped 25% tariffs on us in breach of his own very Free & Fair Trade Agreement (the best trade deal ever!! circa 2020) USMCA. Uhmmm, yes Donald, we can --- geese and ganders;

3) "Our tariffs are 'reciprocal' ... Canada is an abuser". Actually Dear Leader, you slapped 25% onto us and breached the USMCA International Agreement FIRST. It is our tariffs that are actually the 'reciprocal' reponse. Add more? We will reciprocate with the amount to match yours once again. As for who is being abusive - such an insult to actual abuse victims. I might suggest he go take a hard look into the mirror and sort himself out; and

4) He doesn't need anything from us. GREAT!! Doug, go ahead and shut off the hydro switches asap as they don't need it!! Then POTUS, shut the door, build the wall and stop being victimized. Problem solved. If not, then "you're" full of it. Europe, Canada, Mexico, etc etc ... say bye, bye as you burn your bridges and we listen to Americans complain about 'being cut off'. Own it Donald - you made it. Rather, he's probably thinking he's just to going to march his troops up here and "take it" -- what a dictator move.

All IMO.
