I"ve been listening and watching serious commentators and I think Trump sees himself as having taken over a huge and important corporation: he is the Chairman and CEO of the USA, Inc.
So he does what the bold, brash CEOs do: shake up the company to get rid of 'dead wood', define the core mission and jettison anything that doesn't directly improve the bottom line, identify and target the competitors, put pressure on suppliers to get better deals or eliminate external suppliers by a take-over and do it in house...
The obvious problems are
- a nation is not a business
- he's never been a CEO of even a complicated business
- Most business turn-arounds happen over 15 years, not 4...
So, I think the chaos is a result, not the intention...
But he will certainly work to prevent himself from being challenged as Chairman and CEO.

The problem arises when the CEO starts talking , and acting, like a common shoplifter,, the very scourge of companies across the board.. When one looks at other peoples assets as if they should be in their pocket, because, well, they are just sitting on a shelf, or the goods are crying out to be stolen, or, .. the goods would look better on my mantlepiece rather than in your showroom, ... or , and the final idiocy of the incorrigible thief.. 'I like it, so it really ought to belong to me' then normal discourse has disappeared..
Every day in Walmarts and Kmarts across the USA security is dealing with redfaced folks, babbling in the office, usually in handcuffs, all saying the same thing Donald Trump is saying.. ' I just wanted it.. it looked nice, I came in here and it was just laying there, it looked like it wanted to be mine.....officer, don't tighten those cuffs!.'.....
This is not a 'business man'. Trump is the only person on earth who has gone bankrupt running a casino. There is not another org, or person who has managed this. When the 'house always wins' , he somehow manages to lose, and how this is portrayed as successful I simply cannot fathom.
Anyways the Dow-Jones is crawling in the gutter, the unemployment rate in the USA is 4..9% and rapidly rising, ( next months figures will be horrendous ) the Chinese and Mexican and Canadian Tariffs kick in today, lets see what eggs cost in a week, and now Saudi Arabia is clucking on about tariffs on petroleum.. And Americans are getting a bit antsy, and it hasn't even started yet.. It is nearly Spring in the USA , traditionally the time of folks getting out and hollering in the streets.
And you know who is calmly sailing on, rewriting lucrative contracts, being consistently pleasant and well mannered, discussing matters with clarity and focus ? Not entering into any argy bargy sneery nonsense, just building solid and workable outcomes , threatening no one, minding their own business?.. Xi Jinping, and the new premier of China, Li Qiang , a man worth watching, particularly if you live in the USA ...
