I'm not sure what exactly is funny about the idea of a trade war that negatively impacts both economies and could put thousands of people out of their homes and jobs. People with families and children and lives. There are already farmers who have been severely impacted by this.

Even if Ford did reach out, so what? This isn't an arm-wrestling contest or some game, this is real life. I'm glad you find it all very amusing though.

Why does the USA care what Canada does with natural resources, like electricity. The USA needs nothing from Canada.

I just watched a bit on the CBC about how all over northern Maine (the part that sticks up into QC) doesn't even receive US power. They're on our power grid.

In a joint statement released by Lutnich and Premier Ford, they agree that "in response" Ford has suspended (temporarily removed) the surcharge.

Canada doesn't need money, Canada is not exploring bonds to fund Canada.

Canada has a 7.5% tariff on USA dairy. USA dairy contains hormones, which are banned in Canada. Canada has supply management and does not need or want USA dairy. If the USA attempts to dump more that 18% of total Canadian dairy production in Canada, the deterrent is a 270% tariff. That is a deterrent to prevent the USA from dumping cheap, low-quality product in Canada. The USA should keep their dairy in their country - that's the best option. Just keep it.

The next prime minister was elected by the Liberal Party, and a federal election will be announced soon. That is where Canadians will decide the next prime minister. Canada government is modeled after the UK, and no one expects the USA to understand that complex system.

Quebec sells power too, but they didn't apply the surcharge.

IMO, the provinces agreed not to take actions that would threaten another's province's resources.

I'm still waiting to hear why this matters to the USA since the USA Federal Government has repeatedly stated that it does not need anything from Canada. The USA does not need Canadian electricity, so what is the problem?

Some of those Executive Orders aren't worth the paper they're written on. It's the first time I've ever seen a POTUS use them to stage drama.

Comparing Trump now to the Trump of 4 years ago, I really wonder about the state of his mental / emotional / cognitive health. His increasingly erratic behavior and rigid, illogical rants seem like some form or stage of dementia or the side effect of some medication, etc. I'm not a health care professional, but something is really wrong with him. IMO he has untreated psychological issues and is getting older so his mental instability causes him to become obsessed with things like tariffs. He usually always shows his hand with these obsessions. Buying Greenland and making Canada the 51st state is just a way to cozy up to Putin.

Meanwhile Ukrainians are being slaughtered because of 1 man, DJT who was told no by VZ . This is retaliation.
