The sisters were last seen at 2.12 AM on Tuesday 7 January. The police incident number is 0735 on Tuesday 7 January so they were reported missing the same day - less than 24 hours.

The police incident number and date is at the bottom of this report:

“We are continuing to speak to people who know Eliza and Henrietta and we urge anyone who has seen them or who has any information regarding their whereabouts to please contact 101 quoting incident number 0735 of Tuesday, 7 January, 2025.”
It's strange that they were reported missing so early in the day, I also find it suspicious that their landlord would be that aware of their comings and goings. The picture I saw looked like they were going somewhere and not out for a casual late night/early morning walk.

I am speculating that the landlord or "someone" called them to ask them a favor or saying they needed urgent help with something so the sisters put on their coats, grabbed their purses and off they went to assist someone somewhere within walking distance.

Do we know where the landlord lives in relation to the sisters?
Do we know if the landlord had any other rental or commercial properties within walking distance?
Were the sisters known to assist the landlord with or manage any rentals for them?

Hopefully that particular article isn't a case of fishing for hits.
Hungarian here. I would take everything Blikk posts with a pinch of salt. They are known for sensational reporting and celeb gossips.

I agree, the timing of the landlords movements seem to be more than coincidental. There must have been a trigger of some sort for the landlord to visit their flat on the day of their disappearance.

I find the idea that someone would end their tenancy because they were planning to end their life …. Odd. Disappearing or being found dead would make it self-evident that the tenancy was ended; no need to pre-announce it.

On the flip side, if you’d run out of money and realised you’d have to give up your flat… I can see that ending your tenancy might be the final trigger to lead you to end your life.

Just checked properties to rent in Aberdeen. The lowest prices I can find are : one bed flat £104 per week, and two bed flat £121 per week
Incredibly cheap

Incredibly cheap
That’s without bills, buying food, heating it up - and these two ladies had minimum wage jobs.

From what I recall reading my impression was that they hadn't formally given notice but had let the landlord know they were planning to. Maybe just a courtesy if they were on really good terms.

However, if in fact they had given notice, while it's probably very unlikely in most cases, I wonder if there are some people who might want to kind of tidy up the loose end? Especially if it's on a direct debit from the bank that might continue to be withdrawn from the account for some time after they disappeared, and they would maybe worry it would impact their family.

Yes, obviously there would be other bills but that is cheap rent. Also, there were two incomes.

Do the Police have concrete proof that they did actually tell (verbally or in writing) that they were going to move out of the property?

Before the police have reported it as fact they have seen the evidence.

The locals on this thread are very appreciated - nothing like actual information on what the area is really like... Thank you!

So... I was just considering these two young women venturing out into the late night cold and what could possibly have been that enticing. Of course there are numerous "not so pleasant" nefarious reasons (drugs, suicide, hook-up etc...). I keep thinking about them giving notice to vacate their flat - that is so odd to me. Could it be they might be checking out a property to reside or even invest in? Reports suggest they were waking with purpose on CCTV and family said they were saving to purchase a home. Unfortunately, this doesn't help with why they haven't returned or what might have happened to them, but it might be a start.

I just recall my father telling me when I was searching to buy my first home: "Make sure you check out the neighborhood/area at different times of the day and night - that way you will really know what is going on with the location."

Just a thought... My opinion only, of course.

One thing I noticed was the reports stated they wrote a ‘message’ to end the tenancy. Assume this was a text rather than handwritten. This made me think they didn’t actually speak and technically anyone could have sent that?

Although, as with all media reporting it’s sometimes unclear as to how accurate it is!

This is not a neighbourhood you would check out at 2am. It is a rough part of Aberdeen and not somewhere 2 lone females would walk around, especially at night. Given the time they have been in Aberdeen (at least 8 years) they must have known this.

It’s 8 days now since they’ve been missing. :(

I just had a thought … given they probably walked everywhere ( no mention of a car) could they have been walking to their work place for a very early shift … was one a cleaner? They often do shifts at early hours ? If their work place was say 45 mins away. That would make it a 3 am shift? And the other walked with her for protection

For locals, is that right that if you continue to walk along that footpath it will take you to the Wellington Bridge and the A956 out of Aberdeen? Is it possible they walked back up to the highway after the camera footage wasn't able to see anything else? Maybe got picked up there in a vehicle?

Also, would online scammers have convinced them to give everything up and go live elsewhere under the radar in some way?

*ETA: online scammers target folks who may be isolated, especially from family. Maybe the sisters were groomed online over some time and convinced of another lifestyle or way to live. MOO

They were familiar with the area... And that, IMO, would make them feel very comfortable. Maybe too comfortable - perhaps they believed they "knew" the area, and felt safe as a result and didn't consider the danger. After eight years, maybe they felt like "locals" and were aware of what goes on. I don't know, but something got them out of their residence at that crazy hour...

The sisters crossed the bridge and took a sharp right turn down onto the embankment, rather than carrying on straight ahead onto a main road and uphill into the Torry neighbourhood. The sharp right onto the embankment is the strange turn we can't fathom. If they had continued straight ahead or even taken a right turn slightly further on we could have assumed they were walking to visit someone in the Torry neighbourhood. The path along the embankment doesn't lead anywhere and it's not a shortcut; it's a dark riverside path surrounded by tall trees and backs on to commercial premises. Unfortunately it wouldn't make sense to be in that location to check out housing options.

Minimum wage for a 35 hour week is £20.820 . So if they both worked a 35 hour week they would be earning over £40.000.
