LM spent months planning the whole thing in incredible detail, but it would have all gone to waste if BT had stepped out of his hotel with the UHC heavily armed close protection team, with a gun that had to be reloaded after each shot LM would be eliminated after the first shot, all that planning gone to waste, the CP team were used to accompany Witty to the Hilton but not BT. How did LM know that BT would be without the CP team, somehow he did, he had to have someone on the inside who knew BT’s security arrangements.

Yep, this single point, about BTs unprotected walk is just such an issue.
Do you think UHC or LE will ever make a statement to address this?
At this point, I think they all just have to protect any evidence, but it is a conundrum.

It wouldn't have to be a big team, I know someone friend of a friend who is fairly high profile, and when he is out and about he has 2 bodyguards who are quite discreet and dont draw attention to themselves by the way they dress. That could be similar at UHC, it wouldn't need a large team to have escorted BT to the Hilton

I think it would be unlikely, in the CP teams I have seen there is usually one walking maybe 3 or 4 feet behind and another one a few feet infront in order to prevent an attack from the front or back, in the CCTV there was no one else in the picture

As we all know, no cameras are permitted in federal courtrooms and mugshots are not released of inmates. LE is aware of LM's "fan club." Was all the protection surrounding LM in order to keep his fan club from attempting to free him?

In addition, perhaps this will be the last time we see LM for the time being ... thank goodness! He’ll have plenty of time to work on being best buddies w/SC.

I agree w/posters who stated that LM’s family advised to stay away for now until trial, and most likely family funding his defense.

Just catching up on the tv news coverage of this today, and a couple of things really piss me off.

First, there was no reason to do this insane perp walk with all those heavily armed cops. He could have been transported quietly and secretly, without a single camera capturing him. It plays up the underdog/martyr image he has cultivated with a significant minority of the public. I mean, just look at this fricken picture.

Secondly, and related to this, there was absolutely no reason for Mayor Adams to be present. He shouldn't be saying a word, as it is not in the interest of justice for him to be discussing this case. He's turning this into some political sideshow, with himself at the center of it. It makes the case political, and hurts the terrorism argument as a result.

I wish there was some way to just try this Federally, and have New York step aside.

However, that still does not explain how LM was able to lay in wait for him because if BT didn't know he was going to visit the conference room early until he had stepped out of his hotel room then how would LM know?

I also am highly leaning toward that he also had someone keeping an eye out (maybe an incredibly naïve or laid back hotel concierge or front desk clerk who maybe didn't even realize that they were helping a murderer stalk his target).
In pictures, LM looks nice and unassuming, jmo, and maybe he befriended (or flirted with) someone who works at the hotel by telling them some kind of story to get eyes on BT.
Perhaps asking for them to give him a call when he steps out so he could get a picture or by saying that he was tied to the conference in some way.

I think it's odd that they haven't even visited him though. Combining that with his own mother's comment that it might be something she could see him doing, makes me wonder if his family has known for a long time that LM is an evil sociopath and they're so fed up with him that their attitude is basically "we'll hire a lawyer for you, but otherwise you're on your own."

I can't imagine how humiliating all of this must be for his family.

What about some gps hacking, whatever the term is. On Bt's phone. I know on my phone they keep nagging me to allow the program to fine tune my location. Even if I repeatedly turn it to general or no location, sometimes it auto toggles into fine tuned location. Sure enough, if I press it, my complete address plus a map is shown. I can see my sunflowers in the garden but the map itself may be older.

Is it possible to hack into that location feature? I've heard the same is available on fb. Maybe he hacked the whole family's location media. Doesn't snap chat allow the same? This could explain the quick look at his phone. BT is on the move. Is the resolution ever fine enough on "location" to work within a block or 2?

Nah, I think the NYPD and mayor just wanted their share of the limelight. 2 or 3 cops escorting LM should have been sufficient.

LM was in shackles, so it's not like he could have run away. Road blocks and officers patroling the nearby streets could have ensured that members of LM's fan club didn't interfere with his transfer.

It was a ridiculously long perp walk too. They could have transferred in an airport hanger. I can only imagine that for him he was like "damn, I'm a big f'n deal". If they continue to sensationalize all his movements I expect he's only going to grow support. I'm sure his attorney's are enjoying the media circus.
