NY - UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson fatally shot in Midtown. #12 *Arrest*

Probably because he wants to testify and not accept blame. Use the witness stand to grandstand his cause. Heck, he may decide he's so smart he can represent himself in the future.
I think he is enjoying the case publicity and may well want his day in court. But I don't see him as the kind that would say he wants to actually defend himself. That is a LOT of work.

Part of an unverified letter from LM to a fan: "I hope your mugshot t-shirt has the photo of me in blue the day I was picked up at the McDonald's for the heinous crime of ordering a hash brown, and not the photo of me in orange looking disheveled after they held me in isolation for a week in an 8-by-15 cell when the lights never go off. "

Pretty disgusting if he wrote that.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if that was true. I believe LM has some grandiose ideas of himself. 🤢

It's normal to plead not guilty when you don't yet know what evidence there could be. It's nothing to do with making a point for your cause or wanting your day in court. He could change his plea later but at this point his attorney said they haven't received full discovery so there's no way they would advise him to give a guilty plea at this stage.

I respectfully disagree on that statement in this particular crime. LM stated in his own writings that he was basically martyring himself for the greater good of the little people against Capitalism.

A true martyr will proudly stand up and take responsibility for their actions and the punishment that goes along with their beliefs. Why hide behind the legal system? That seems like an oxymoron to me.

According to the motion, Mangione's defense also claims that Altoona officers "repacked" his backpack before he was taken out of the restaurant, further alleging that police "mishandled" the alleged evidence in the case.
Yikes. It this assertion by the defense is true - that he was not read his rights before they seized and went threw all his things including the backpack with critical evidence - this would seem to be legally significant and not good for the prosecution.
Do we know of the Altoona police wear body cams ?

Yes, Altoona PD wears body cams. The image of LM eating a hash brown (the one he allegedly wrote about to that ‘fan’) was a still from an officer’s bodycam.

If so, it’s gross. But so many people lie on the internet, I would not be surprised if she penned the response herself … there’s going to be lots of weirdos coming out of the woodwork for this trial. Moo.

That’s great. Fingers crossed that proper procedure was followed

Based upon what we know and reading the motion, I don't think this is really a concern. The officers had reasonable suspicion to stop him, officers were not required to say he was free to go, and the pat down and search of the backpack were reasonable for officer safety as allowed.

I would agree in a typical criminal case, but LM wrote his mini manifestos claiming responsibility and detailing his actions and reasoning as Martyring against Capitalism for the little people. You can't have it both ways.

Martyr Definition:
a person who suffers very much or is killed because of their religious or political beliefs, and is often admired because of it:

a Christian/Islamic/religious martyr
She fought against racism all her life and died a martyr to the cause.

He's guilty, he admitted it and is caught on CCTV. Why is he now claiming Not Guilty? Guess his alliance to thwart Capitalism for the greater good went out the window when he got locked up and is spending his days in a cell instead of traveling around the country doing as he pleased.

Too bad IMO, Bryan Thompson should be alive to do the same, but LM decided to take those choices from him and left him bleeding and dying out in the street.

Agreed. IMO, LM is carrying on with his message because his attorney's want him to play the long game. The longer his story is in the media the better for the lawyer's on the defense. More time to read their name in print.

I would disagree here. First, in almost all criminal cases, a not guilty plea is entered initially to allow the defense attorneys to learn the case and properly advise their client on how to proceed. A defense attorney would almost be committing malpractice to do anything else. 99% of defense attorneys would handle the case looking for best resolution likely for their client. Now, in regards to extreme high dollar firms with a client with a lot of money? I don't know, but it would be very unethical to milk a criminal case for money against a client's wishes. I suspect LM is wanting to keep the not guilty plea for now to get the publicity. Once he pleads guilty, he will have a sentencing hearing scheduled (he will get to talk) but then its over. I'm not sure he ready to ride off to prison and silence just yet.

But the new insider who has shared about his sex tapes said he would often record himself in the act, and would also share nude pictures of himself with women he knew.

'People thought he was this misunderstood genius, but... he was filming everything like he was starring in his own private 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 empire,' the source told Radar.

LM is not a true Martyr, he's a big time attention seeker IMO.

He could have admitted guilt upon arrest and none of this media circus and hype would be happening if he were truly sincere in what he stated in his writings.

I believe LM is going to get quite the surprise when he is sentenced to a very long and well deserved prison sentence. Where will all his fan boys and girls be then? Moved on to the next big thing like he never existed. Good, I don't condone acts of terrorism and Bryan Thompson's family deserve justice.

Crazy, but this does not surprise me. LM seems Narcissistic and very attention seeking, not a true champion of the less fortunate.
