Do we know when he checked in to the hostel. Review from 2 days ago reports "a very bad person" in his room. Of course could be anyone! Google Maps

ETA: No recent visitor photos I can see of any use.
That review could be about anyone, including the assassin or someone completely different.

BUT...we get an inside look at the hostel at that link. Thanks.

This must be brought to the attention of Law Enforcement. There is so much for them to do, they very well may not have gotten to reading Yelp reviews of the Hostel.

How would the perp know for sure who Brian was ?
People often look a bit different from their online work photos.
I'm 100 % convinced someone was walking him through this.

I like how they released pictures of the suspect right away. I believe so many cold cases would have been solved if that was done more often.

If he has an accent it will be known by now. He had to speak to people over the two days. Another point that I wanted to make from one of the media links in the last thread. LE knows the phone was his based on the finger prints pulled from the water bottle and power bars he bought at Starbucks. I don't think the phone was accidently dropped or left behind. I think it's a burner phone and he has no use for it now. He's playing some games with LE. There's a tremendous amount of video of him coming and going. He also wasn't worried about an eyewitness seeing him shoot Brian yesterday nor was he concerned about the waiting uber drivers sitting by the sidewalk during the shooting. Does he think he's going to get away with this? ETA Just MOO

seeing the pictures of his face i still feel confident in my original assessment that he's in his 20s. doesn't seem any older than 30 to me. JMO

The two new photos:

The person is unmasked inside a hostel on the Upper West Side in New York City.
CNN has geolocated the two images to the hostel’s location.

No doubt police have talked to the reception person there, or whomever this suspect was conversing with. There may be more info on him, accent, physical features, whatever else.
Strange the roommates said he never took off his mask, but here he did, in front of cameras.
A hostel? For a hit man??

This would be insane if it’s the same guy— a “trained assassin.”

points that feel important

he knew Brian was leaving at the exact time
he could identify him
he knew Brian had no security
he knew Brian would be alone
a envelope with no letter is delivered to the home of his wife.
carved letters on the bullets

I think this is a personal dispute being dressed up to look like a another kind of plot.

I am very cynical about this,

if they get him he will have to talk. mOO

We don't know that he didn't know there was no security and/or that he would be alone.
He could have been planning to do something and then when he saw his opening, he took it. JMO

I think the reason he took off his mask is because someone at reception said something to him, like saying in a half kidding way "who are you hiding from with wearing your mask all day ????" And that's why the gunman was smiling, to joke it all off.
Or maybe for ID purposes at check in. Hotels ask for this, wouldn't a hostel?

I admit I'm surprised Brian didn't have a coat on but maybe he had exited a warm vehicle and was going straight into the hotel lobby, so ...
We're going over the minutiae, whilst we wait for LE to apprehend the perp. ;)
Hope it's soon !

Wasn't he staying right across the street? I hate wearing coats....I would not wear one in that instance (if I was just crossing the street).

I feel like this is more personal made to look like a professional hit.

What hired gunman is going to be walking into Starbucks ordering snacks 30 minutes before the murder and then just haphazardly leave a water bottle, wrappers, and phone behind? Also chatting up the receptionist at the hostel without a mask on is suspect to me as well.

Every square inch of Midtown is being surveilled by CCTV these days, Downtown and Uptown too. A real professional would know that. Keep your head down, get in, get out. This guy is smiling for the camera wth?

I'd say he made his getaway through Central Park, maybe that's why they lost video coverage of him.

His wife receiving a bomb threat 15 min prior that turns out to be nothing is even stranger.

Great sleuthing! I would not have thought to check the hostel reviews.

Absolutely--to make sure ID picture matched the person trying to check in.

Does not look like the guy from the video to me.
Also trying to wrap my head around why a shooter would stay in a hostel.

Maybe the hostel accepted cash or PayPal for payment, circumventing ID and credit card requirement?

This is my thought, as well.
To my eyes, BT looks different in just about every picture that has been released of him.
There is just too many coincidences leading up to the shooting that make it seem like either the shooter is just an extremely lucky guy or there were eyes on BT leading up to his death - MOO

Agree. But what’s bothering me is how young the guy is to be a hit -for-hire guy.

Thoughts?

The whole thing seems to be a mismash of "professional meets amateur"

Pro indications:

Either knows, or is being provided with real time insider information about CEOs movements, lack of security, no entourage. Rapidly clears jammed pistol LE / military / Security textbook style. No wild shooting, has a planned escape route etc.

Amateur Hour:

- Drops or forgets important items such as a phone- heck, with ubber DNA, everything is an important item, checks into hostel as "The Man in an Iron Mask" (hmmmm- nothing strange about that- right?)", makes a clearly un needed coffee run to Starbucks etc.

I dont know what to make of it. Maybe a knowledgable insider hires a dimwit for a hired hit with the motives being money, love, revenge etc.? Extremist group convinces a more dimwitted member to actually carry out their carefully planned murder?

I haven't read any of that hostel's reviews either.

Bbm.
Not sure how I missed that.

The articles I'd linked in the prior thread mentioned a threat, but I think it was the blank envelope ?
