Hostel sign in sheet....handwriting tells a lot! Are there fingerprints on sign in sheet? (Yes it is possible to lift fingerprints from paper.) Anything left in bathroom....tooth brush, comb, fluid dispensers in hostel bathroom? DNA on sheets, pillow, night table drawer/light switch???

I think we can pretty much rule out that this is the work of an extremist group. It just seems extremely far-fetched (almost preposterous) to consider that as being a real possibility. And, according to the principle of Occam's Razor, we should put our greatest attention to the least contrived of possibilities.

I bet his picture was immediately forwarded to airport personnel, and they may be scouring airport video.

Plus if he leaves the country he'd use his passport and then LE can swoop in.
Bet he won't be smiling then.

I haven't read any of that hostel's reviews either.

Bbm.
Not sure how I missed that.

The articles I'd linked in the prior thread mentioned a threat but I think it was the blank envelope ?

It turned out to be nothing. Curious also that it was dropped off by a female driver.

Is it possible that the unmasked photos are of a hostel roommate? Did LE specifically say it was the shooter or just a person of interest? I'm not sold that the Starbucks photos and new photos are the same person.

Investigators are looking into the purchase of a gun that resembles the weapon used in the shooting, according to two officials briefed on the investigation. The purchase was made in Connecticut, the officials said, and investigators are trying to determine whether the buyer of the gun could be the suspect.

Interesting. Im wondering how the connection was made

I was wondering about the "delay, deny, defend" being possibly changed to "depose, deny, defend". I came across an interesting fact that seems to have started back in 2020 when Covid really hit.

Remote depositions in lawsuits (all kinds) became the norm and the trend has stuck and increased with the popularity of AI growth. Just made me wonder if that may factor into the change (if there was one) of "delay" to "depose" on the shell casings.

Maybe the shooter's family is/was involved in a lawsuit with UnitedHealthCare since the 2020 timeframe and their "delay" was the "depose"? Could be someone's lawsuit was greatly affected by the delay in the "depose"...maybe resulting in a death (in the ensuing 4 yrs) and now it's an estate case left to the surviving children and impersonal attention they're getting? Just some thoughts.

"Remote Depositions are Here to Stay

In last year’s survey, 70% of respondents confirmed their organizations used remote depositions. This year’s findings further support the notion that remote depositions are here to stay. Thirty-one percent of respondents expect their use of remote depositions to increase and 46% expect use to remain the same. Legal professionals responding to our survey said the following were the most important factors when selecting remote deposition services: Ease of use, Functionality, Affordability, Security and
Affordability"

MIDTOWN, Manhattan (PIX11) – The CEO of UnitedHealthcare was killed in a Midtown shooting Wednesday morning, sources told PIX11 News.

Brian Thompson, 50, was shot just before 7 a.m. near a hotel on 54th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues, sources said. Video posted to Citizen showed police tape on the Midtown street as police arrived at the scene.

He was rushed to an area hospital and later died. Thompson was in New York City for an investors meeting at a Hilton hotel, according to sources.

The shooting is being investigated as a possibly targeted hit, sources said.

<modsnip - quoted post was not victim friendly>

What about someone high up in the United Healthcare organization, who was concerned Brian might 'talk' ?
Someone with something to lose ?
Just a theory.

My guess is that he's safely ensconced in a "no-extradition" country as we speak. On a flight out by noon yesterday.

The explanation that seems to make the most sense, is that this is the work of the group that is currently ransomwaring United Health. And this assassination would be the Ransomware group's way of saying that they mean business and that they are willing to kill to get the ransom amount that they are looking for.

good point. Maybe that is an accomplice, I think 2 people had to be involved in the hit.

True, but what if this perp is not in CODIS and has no arrest history or had been fingerprinted before? They'd have DNA and nobody to link it to. He seemed unconcerned in some ways about his identity to me.

Late in thread 1, someone asked about the backpack.
The one in the photos form yesterday is by a company called Peak Design, and it’s the ash colored version 1 ‘everyday backpack’ they sell.

IF this guy has left the country, imagine the work and time it would take to study surveillance video at the three airports, and who's to know this guy didn't take a bus or train to another city's airport.
Probably has a falsified passport too. The Danish hostel guest said the hostel required passport ID.

But he may also be blended into the NYC population for all we know or Chicago or wherever, who knows.

Does anyone sign hard copy paper anymore? I seem to always sign on a digital device.

Im wondering if the model of the gun was rather uncommon. If a supressor was used, im wondering if that item was purchased with the gun.

The combination of items purchased may have set off a red flag
