The flirtatious moment!! He only took his mask off in 10 days TO FLIRT. This is quite the case.John Miller:
He's on a bus that originates in Atlanta, but haven't established when he got on that bus. So Atlanta may not have been his starting point. It'll come together.
Gets here around the 24th, which puts him here a lot longer than previously believed. Checked into that hostel. Chats with clerk at the desk (flirty) she asked to see his face. That yielded the most significant clue to identify him.
Checks out of hostel and checks back in a day or two later. Don't know where he was on that odd day away. Goes to Hilton way before night of murder. Knows about the conference obviously.
Mask everywhere. Went to Mcdonalds. It's all about finding that weak moment where he takes down hood and mask. Haven't found that yet.
This reminds me of the Idaho case also. Deeply planned and well-executed enough they don't catch him immediately, but I bet some small details will start to catch up - DNA on the phone, cell phone pings, endless surveillance cameras. The fact they've pieced together such a strong timeline is a good sign.I had a friend marveling over this story. He was convinced that this guy was John Wick and had covered all of his tracks.
But then I told him a story about a friend of mine's brother. Wiped out a jewelry store overnight. LE was stumped. They diligently combed over video in the months of prior. And was able to match on eye brows and build. Which opened up flood gates and led to discoveries outside of the scene and to his conviction.
I had a feeling that as methodical as this person was in committing the crime and escaping, their trip in and any canvassing they did was probably not as well thought out (reminds me of a Idaho case).
I mean, from everyting we've learned (MOO) from being true crime obsessed professional mob hitman scratch off serial numbers from generic popular guns and file down barrels as to not leave identifying marks. This guy goes out and buys one of the most unique guns out there. And demonstrates it's uniqueness in front of the cameras. Which likely only required a quick google search of distributors.
And then reportedly (unless this is outdated by now) he checks into a hostel using a fake ID...but with his face fully exposed? I understand booking under a fake name and presenting a fake while masked up at check in. So he was preparing that LE might pursue him that far. But if they have your face they'll have your name. It's bewildering. JMO
Maybe he's relying on what @MassGuy said. Even though they have all of this evidence they still need to put him at the crime scene as masked up guy during or after the murders.
All MOO.
I wonder if the pile of rubbish seen here is where they found the phone?Hopefully detectives collected that rubbish before it was collected.
@NYPDnews
Watch as @NYPDChiefofDept & other NYPD executives provide an update on an ongoing investigation in Brooklyn.
I bet you’re right about that! How much do you want to bet when they do find his name, it’s going to the the name from his fake New Jersey ID.
On Thursday, senior law enforcement officials told News 4 that investigators were working on the belief that the suspect arrived in New York City on a Greyhound bus from Atlanta on Sunday, November 24, around 9 p.m. They are also working to find a name among those who purchased tickets for this trip that might help identify the suspect.

Strange how he just seemed to place the item rather than deposit it behind or between those bags.I wonder if the pile of rubbish seen here is where they found the phone?
Hope this nets something...
I actually feel we have learned SO LITTLE in the last 24 hours.
Thank you. I'm glad you clarified that. I thought I remembered reading that BT arrived early, but couldn't easily find the specific date. The timeline doesn't work for an attack on the victim on the 29th, as BT arrived on Monday, which was the 2nd.
Maybe this was a backup louder gun unless anything went wrong and he had to flee? JMO. Looking at that extended MAG I'm wondering if it had a 'switch' on it which allows for automatic like rapid firing. JMO based on my collection and range visits.
My guess would be simply that he’s not familiar with Minnesota. There’s been exceptions (Israel Keyes for example) but generally speaking criminals commit crimes in areas they’ve lived in and/or spent a significant amount of time inOk, so the question remains. Why Manhattan and not Minnesota?
I thought I read somewhere that LE recovered the power bar wrappers and water bottle from the trash at Starbucks? If that’s true, it probably never occurred to this guy that LE could trace his movements back to Starbucks fast enough to retrieve the items from the garbage can.a fingerprint believed to be the shooter’s was found on a water bottle at the murder scene, but that it was too smudged to be of value.
Update from Andy Newman
well that turned out to be a lucky break. How lucky remains to be seen.
I too am confused about the reasoning behind the Starbucks visit. Such a visible and I would think high traffic choice to make when you could grab a coffee somewhere more nondescript or simply wait til your murder was completed and then grab a cup of joe anywhere. And then to leave the water bottle behind. I get leaving the casings behind, they were part of the message. But the water bottle would seem to have been an error. Turns out not a fata one but still, this crime is a mixture of premeditation/planning and messy disorder?
As to why he was in Manhattan for a couple of days prior - that is puzzling as well. Do we know when Brian arrived in the city? Could the killer have been stalking him after his arrival, hoping for the right opportunity to arise? Was it dumb luck that he allegedly arrived shortly before Brian appears on the street or something more?
