He looks like a women? Maybe a ex girlfriend mad at him.
I didn't think so. Strong jaw line and chin. Looks very masculine to me.

<modsnip: Quoted post was removed>

People are angry because he was in charge of a company that took advantage of a lot of vulnerable people. He did not deserve to die. I understand the anger and frustration that they general public is feeling, but he did not deserve to die.

Murder is never the answer.

Question: Why would he bother to drop a burner phone? Especially right at the crime scene area. Why not ditch in Central Park, where it at least wouldn’t be found right away? It’s a burner, therefore he can’t be tracked by it, right?

He has shed himself of anything that ties him to the killing.

Someone who doesn't have the cash to spend on a room only for himself.

But I agree, sharing a dorm room with strangers is just so weird in this situation!
With all the DNA left in that room by all kinds of people it makes it a lot more difficult for police to get DNA evidence. Everyone is touching everything. In a hotel room it would be a lot easier to collect finger prints and DNA.

Ha! That knife sheath.

Yes, meticulous planners, but execution left a lot to be desired. They delayed discovery, but guaranteed it at the same time.
Well remembered!

And just like Kohberger, I bet this perp will be apprehended in a week or so, living in another state, and possibly living with his parents too.

The jackets are not the same. One jacket has a hood, the other appears to be a sweatshirt hoodie under a hoodless jacket.
I wonder..why would he bring two jackets?

Maybe twins? A diversionary tactic? Backpack color is different too

I just found his hands and gait... would not know what adjective to use... I get dancer & pianist vibes. Well educated.
I used to be a ballroom dancer, suppose still am.
Many, many Eastern/central European man are excellent dancers. It is a “normal” extracurricular activity in primary schools (1-8th grade).
Not saying he’s a foreigner per se, but culture wise.

John Miller was talking about this earlier. It wouldn't have been a financial consideration, but perhaps a way for him to blend in, in plain sight. Lots of people coming and going, many around his age.

A hostel is probably going to have a less robust surveillance system than a hotel, and he was able to pay with cash and use a fake ID, when most hotels require credit cards.
That hostel doesn't seem that cheap. Even to share a 10-bed dorm, it's about a hundred per night. I suppose he could have a groupon.

Is it definite the hostel guy is the shooter? I thought people were doubting that earlier. Or maybe it was just confusion of when the photos were taken.

I said yesterday that I'd be shocked if he wasn't in custody at this point today. I'll say the same, but for real this time. That photo release changed everything.

The jackets look the same to me, but the backpacks do look different. Are the straps a different colour?

Could just be the difference between the 2 CCTV cameras though.....

That's a super busy area. One of the busiest 1/2 miles in the world. Times Square is less than a 1/2 mile away. It's Christmas which is one of the busiest tourist seasons. It's by all intents and purposes the end of the fiscal year with the holidays coming up so tens of thousands of people are in town for business meetings. JMO.

He knew that this would be national news. He knew that the people directly benefiting off of the insurance companies bottom line would all be in one place. He knew how traumatized they'd all be. He knew the messages on his bullet would be sensationalized. And ultimately he knew that NY likely elevated the risks of him being caught. IMO.

I think Manhattan at this specific meeting was probably the entire point. To send a message. I'm trying to be careful about not sensationalizing this or marveling over what he did. So don't take any offense by my formatting. MOO.
I have mixed feelings on that. Being that BT was CEO of a major health insurer and all the people who’ve since aired grievances about UHC, I think it still would have been major news had he been killed in Minnesota. But at the same time, New York is New York so yeah it probably did catapult it even higher in the news.

I had assumed it was a city e-bike. The ones that people rent.
As per CBS News this evening: "Authorities initially said the suspect used an electric Citi Bike to get away, but Lyft, which owns and operates Citi Bike, later said the NYPD informed the company a Citi Bike hadn't been used."

<modsnip: Quoted post was removed> ... While I don’t agree with insurance companies denying coverage for profit, in no way, shape or form did this need to happen. This guy is a CEO but he’s not the only person in that organization and he has children. Taking a life is never a good thing. I don’t care if it shines attention on a huge issue or not. There have to be better ways. MOO

Even the shared dorm is over a hundred dollars.

I do hope that this whole situation does lead to a healthy and safe discussion on the predatory behaviors of many insurance companies.

my condolences to his wife and kids.

gobs and gobs of speculation, but not facts on finding him
NOW...we are getting facts probable before the murder, but still no facts on finding him.
It's only been since yesterday. Already they are finding out about his travels from another state, the hostel he stayed at, where he bought the weapon, and his fake ID.

Could someone be calling attention to Insurance Companies during Medicare Enrollment time?
