Did he take a citi bike that someone else had rented and left unlocked/unattended? Didn't think one could rent one with cash. Thought it required a debit or credit card.

Why are people saying he arrived Monday? It has been reported that he was in town for 10 days. Am i missing something?
He is referring to Thompson not the killer. Thompson arrived Monday. The killer arrived 10 days prior to the shooting.

Focusing on the facts presented in the videos.

1. Not a professional.
2. Not a gun expert.
3. Used primitive gun. The unspent shells are misfires. The gun wasn't jamming it didn't fire.
4. The shell had to be manually ejected. (Primitive gun)
5. Expect it to be an Internet gun build.
6. Burner Phone points to accomplices. Shared room with 2 others.
7. Being on the Phone validates someone knows. If call traces to another burner phone.
8. Specialty BackPack identifiable. (someone knows what brand)

The timing had to be coordinated so possible that someone was in BT's hotel lobby.

It was well planned but not thought out.

The way they carry themselves, the face structure, and Atlanta airport. If Atlanta was not a part of the picture, I would place him as a techie from SF or NYC. But Atlanta points to someone having flown in from outside.
What specific about how he carrys himself.

Why not fly in closer? Why all the way to Atlanta?. Shoot, even DC would work.

Wouldn't the lack of finding the backpack by now indicate that he likely met an accomplice there?
He could have thrown it in the lake, with something heavy like a rock or whatever to make it sink?

The name written on the coffee cup by the Starbucks cashier could match the name on his fake ID, making it much less of a “needle in a haystack” situation. Also I imagine they have video of him putting the cup in the garbage can, but just speculating on what seems to make sense/be most obvious, jmo.

Okay, this is not my area of interest, so: What database is it that utilizes DNA from crime scenes and then "builds a family tree around it" (my words) using the DNA data? Like with the Golden Gate killer? And would they do this in this scenario?

They do use some of the common sites.... but they have complex algorithms that can build a profile from very distant relatives in to an unknown person. It does not have to be direct relatives.

It would be all the more difficult if the individual is not American however.... much less international participation on those sites.

Othram is a partner with Websleuths.... and their site here is fascinating.... I suggest you consider reading.....

Well- I have been wrong on everything about this case so far.

Didn't think it was going to prove to be well planned- boy was it
Thought they would catch him by the end of the day- didn't
Thought he would be local to the region and get caught using his EZpass or Commuter card- not it

I do think they will get him sooner rather than later.

So dialing the wheel of possibilities... they will get him today.

The problem is many young adults dress just like him in cities! Couriers, messengers, and take-out food delivery. He blends in!
They still haven't caught the SWAT perp who killed Missy Bevers in the Texas Church.

I'm confused, was he actually spotted at the Atlanta airport? If so, they should be able to track the flight he arrived on. The airport is covered with security cameras inside and out.
I thought he was on a bus that originated in Atlanta. The bus made many stops, I've not heard confirmation he boarded the bus in Atlanta or from one of the other stops. Someone posted the schedule up thread.

Moo...

Every news article I have read agrees that the killer knew how to operate guns. Maybe not in the traditional way of how it is taught to LE or the military in the US but this guy knew how to operate this manual gun.

I think you're thinking of the assassin.

With all due respect, an "alleyway" seems equal to a garbage can in my opinion and the article specifically states the coffee cup was dropped in a "garbage can"
I did not think of alleyway=garbage can. You may be right. There is video of him dropping something on top of trash bags in an alleyway earlier in the am so when i read alleyway near the phone i imagined something similar to the video from the stage deli alley. Also there is a pic of the phone on the ground with what looks to be an evidence marker.

I guess so. I just think by now they would have found it, lake, land or whatever. The only reason I say this is because they do seem to be working at lightening speed. I'm gobsmacked at how quickly they've gone through camera and video footage, obtained physical evidence on the ground, located where he stayed, etc.

Unless they caught the suspect on camera dropping these items, how can they even confirm he dropped these? Seems like LE is clutching at straws really.
I wouldn't say grasping at straws, I'd say being proactive and collecting everything that could be connected. If he was known to be in that alley to get a bike, then I'd say collecting things in that area makes sense.

If they didn't collect these things and they were connected, then people would say they were sloppy or lazy and didn't do their job.
