If that were the scenario, while the person might not have cared much himself if he got caught he might have family who he cares about and doesn't want to put through the ordeal of having their dying loved one arrested, gone to trial, put in prison, etc.--he may have wanted to spare them the media attention, extra stress, shame, and noterity.
Anyone else find it interesting that no picture of the fake id has been published? Unless it would have been stolen, but then again it would be a stolen not a fake one. Just imho

CVS and other health care companies are scrubbing social media of top executive pictures.

IMO - this is a smart move.

BT's death has definitely shed light on the anger many people have bubbling just under the surface in America for health insurance and providers.
The right move, sadly. It erodes democracy, not being able to see your leaders but….right now there might be lives at stake.

This homicide is, at the very least, set up for copy cats. Considering those marked casings/bullets.

They probably don't want people sleuthing/bothering people with the name or address on the fake ID.

I think they know he was using a fake ID because they ran the information and it didn’t match anyone. They probably don’t have a photo of the ID though, as that would provide a solid photo of him.

New York City mayor confident police will find suspected shooter as manhunt enters third day

From CNN's Elise Hammond
New York City’s mayor is confident that police will find the person who killed the CEO of UnitedHealthcare in Manhattan on Wednesday, as the manhunt stretches into its third day.

“We’re seeing good old fashioned police work here,” Mayor Eric Adams told NY1 on Friday, adding that investigators are “on the right track.”

Because of that police work, Adams told CNBC’s Squawk Box that detectives have uncovered “a lot of new information,” but wouldn’t give specific details while the investigation is ongoing.

Interesting video at link. Somebody knows the shooter's gait. What did shooter put in trash?

Well done, by female employee at hostel. Perhaps when shooter is arrested and convicted this person can share in reward funds? jmo

12/6/2024

The hooded man in the photo is seen smiling, with his face mask pushed down around his neck in a flirtatious moment with a female employee at a hostel on Manhattan's Upper West Side, police sources told multiple news outlets. Upon checking him in, she asked to see his smile.

Thank you for laying this out so clearly. Are you thinking this is a conspiracy of some sort?
RICO statute sort of thing - organized crime. So, so, so, so much money involved in this one event. I didn't think until today of how this was a massive shake to the US stock market - big, big money made by the co conspirators. Sure reminds me of Elon Musk.

I agree with posters saying it’s disturbing and wrong that people online are cheering for others murders. It’s not up to random members of the public to decide life or death. That’s for United’s faulty AI algorithm to decide. /s

Sympathy is short for me in this case.
It’s a ”corporate Dexter” murder, then, possibly. Only killing serial killers and so on. Here it would be ”only killing people in charge who systematically make decisions - for instance to apply inappropriate machine learning methods or what have you - leading to other human beings’ suffering and death”.

Image of suspected gunman has been sent to every member of NYPD, source says

From CNN's Mark Morales
An image of the suspected gunman in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was sent to every member of the NYPD as investigators’ top priority has become identifying the suspect, a law enforcement official told CNN.

The department’s video collection unit is canvassing, trying to find more still images of the assailant’s face to load into its facial recognition technology, the official said.

The precinct’s detectives and the homicide unit are working the case, according to the official. Police are operating under the idea that once the shooter is identified, he can be apprehended anywhere.

The weapon itself is a message ............

I’ve read it’s a weapon used to euthanize animals.
Goodness, is this true???? 'Used to euthanize animals' like in the Borat II movie when Borat is taken in by those Xrumpers.... 'Hillary Clinton eats newborn babies alive' low i.q. redneck'ers type of gun? If true, oh my goodness - again, totally reminds me of Elon Musk for real.

Just if the assassin only took a Greyhound into Manahattan, FOR SURE he can be traced. Similar to how Walmart has tabs on every single one of us.

It didn't impact the markets at all.

I'll respectfully point out that plenty of people who live in this part of the country are in fact citizens or residents with state ID but were born elsewhere. By that I mean, if he's a foreigner with an accent, he could still have American/local ID and it would not raise an eyebrow at all.

I would like to hear if anyone noticed an accent though. And, if he's actually from down south, that accent stands out too!

I can certainly vouch for that. I’m from South Carolina, and the few times I’ve been to NYC (the most recent being last December), people looked at me like I was an alien when they heard me speak.

I respectfully disagree. I don't think his executive assistant would be traveling with him to this. They typically would work out of the home office (in MN).

I also disagree that his schedule would be easy to find OR well publicized. It's possible they might be able to find a meeting agenda to show what time he was speaking that day, but not detailed info if he flew in the night before or morning of or what hotel he was staying in.

If I went online and tried to find the schedules of Fortune 500 CEOs I'm pretty sure I would come up empty handed, or it would be very, very high level, not enough to plan a murder on.

Which leaves us with the option that someone "hacked" into BT or his assistant's devices, which I just think is unlikely. I cannot think of another websleuth murder where that every happened - it sounds like something out a CIA spy movie :).

Which then leads me back to my original theory, someone who knew his personal schedule, was in contact with the shooter - either someone he worked with, socialized with or had his phone on their Life 360 plan. It's just the simplest explanation.
Respectfully...I worked for two of the largest HC companies, the CEOs asst. always attended, ready to make changes in schedule or presentations. The asst. is the right hand person. BT didn't even carry a laptop to the meeting, bet the asst took care of all his needed materials.

Moo...BT, and his support team, (IT, Asst etc) and his CFO,COO, all the subsidiary presidents and CFOs and their assistance, would all be in attendance. Usually from my experience, the support staff arrives several days early with all the equipment, giveaways, handouts, decorations, etc to set up. The Corp folks will spend their time visiting, whining and dining, small elite groups of investors or customers. There's usually a dry run for presenters. Support staff more than likely stayed at the Hilton, corporate executives are always at a separate hotel, I'm thinking the Lux. This type meetings is usually very elaborate, lots of dynamic theatrics, money flows generously for these events.

Corp jets are easy to track on several websites. The meeting was on the Corp website. Hanging around outside the hotel in Monday and Tuesday would have provided much Intel.

Respectfully...all my opinion and a tad bit of experience.

I’m curious if he was on his own while traveling. Was he at the hotel with other coworkers, friends, or guests? Has anyone heard anything about it?
