Getting on the bus at 178th street later in the day threw me though.
After committing homicide, he (and only he) went home. One guy.

He might just be a young man who lives in NJ.

One morning, he got on the bus at Newark to travel to PortAuthority, 42 str, NYC.
(The bus had come up from Atlanta.)

Ten days later, he took a commuter bus, back to NJ. And was home by dinner that evening.

Just sayin'.

Interesting. Do the CEOs actually get involved in denials? I used to work for physicians at a level 1 trauma center and we had to get peer to peer reviews all the time. I have never had one go to the CEO. It was always MDs doing the reviews and talking to the treating physicians. They were the step above the nurses who did the second denial after it was denied by the lay people working for the insurance. We always had the different company policies for every procedure on hand prior to trying to get things approved. It was a lot of time and work in many cases. But i never had any go to the CEO who isn’t usually medically trained. Many of the denial policies have been in place for a very long time. They never take into consideration that every patient is different and medicine isn’t exact and can vary by patient. They have checklists they follow and do not deviate.

I used to be an executive assistant for 10 years at a health insurance company. My boss was the VP over customer service, so he was the first person who would answer customers' letters when they appealed a claims denial. If my boss upheld the denial (vs. overturning it), the customer had one more opportunity to state their case, at which time the dispute would hit the CEO's desk for him/her to respond to. That was how it worked at that particular company. Not sure how it works at others. My boss did his best not to let irate customer complaints reach the CEO's desk.

Could this - among with many other reasons - why NYC was used as the place of the murder rather than Minnesota?
Easier to blend in.

Many more places to hide things (i.e. the bookbag, murder weapon, etc.) and ease of get away transportation?

The shooter reportedly arrived at the hostel where he stayed ten days before the shooting (Nov 24). That would have provided enough time to gain familiarity with routine street activity, including local trash truck schedules.

I wonder (and I believe I've read someone else here doing the same) if the shooter had tossed the Peak Design backpack (perhaps with gun or some disassembled parts of it inside) into the garbage truck he is seen pedaling in front of in the pic taken before he enters Central Park.

ETA: Correction - I think the photo in which the shooter is biking without the light colored backpack was taken AFTER he left Central Park.

Inside job imho, another senior exec of the country hiring someone to kill him, BT was facing corruption charges, someone very senior was worried about BT turning supergrass to get a lesser sentence/charges dropped and wanted him silenced forever so he could not implicate others. Whoever killed him knew his movements, what door he uses at the hotel etc

- Around 9pm: Suspect arrives at Port Authority Bus Terminal on a Greyhound bus originating in Atlanta around 9pm, although police have yet to determine where exactly he boarded the bus. He then checks in to the HI NYC Hostel at Amsterdam Avenue and 104th Street.

Friday, November 29
- Suspect checks out of the HI NYC Hostel.

Saturday, November 30
- Suspect takes an Uber back to the HI NYC Hostel and rebooks a room using a fake NJ ID.

It caught my eye that the fake ID was only mentioned when he went back to the hostel? I'm assuming that's an oversight and he used it for the first booking.

Oh, he is way, way ,way higher than that level.

They pay people to be the ultimate arbiters of a claims and denials. That is nowhere near what Thompson would be doing.

He's involved in finance and strategic planning. What to do with the money they are bringing in.

However, CEO's in general have their fingers on the pulse in every aspect of their company. It's their job to oversee and have knowledge of everything that goes on.

I would sure be checking the hotel staff that had recently been hired and everyone, everyone that was there that morning. Everyone, including restaurant staff, housekeeping staff, janitorial staff and finding out who they felt was newest on the job.

Including the drivers of the cars that were waiting outside. That would be a perfect cover for an accomplice.

This. His "accomplice" could simply be a fooled hotel worker.. Suspect pretended he was a journalist/photographer perhaps and he wanted to get the best photos/exclusive interview with the CEO facing investigation. Here's a few hundred dollars if you let me know when he's moving... (Pure speculation).
