I think the photographs with his face showing are from the hostel reception area.

The photographs of his face with the mask on are from Starbucks.
I can’t believe LE doesn’t have a name yet. The man in the hostel photo is very identifiable. This has been on national news for 24 hours now. Surely people have seen and recognized him! Maybe LE knows his name but is staying quiet until they track down his whereabouts. If I was him, I’d be out of my mind with paranoia.

Everything we've seen suggests genuine confidence. Call it flair or even panache. The apparently carefree attitude to the items left (phone, water), the decision to visit a Starbucks just minutes beforehand, the presence of witnesses (including someone standing close to Brian Thompson and the assassin during the shooting – the woman who flees), the casual departure on foot and bicycle, the choice of weapon (a gun that needed to be cleared after every single shot!), the choice of clothing, the smile in the stills. If the POI and the suspect are the same person, it's someone of unusual character.

The photographs of his face with the mask on are from Starbucks.
The hostel photograph with the face visible has a grey and whiteish striped floor

The Starbucks photo from that morining has a black speckled floor and he has a mask or balaclava on.

The hotel photo has a very nondescript black backpack with some side compression straps.

The Starbucks photo has the light colored backpack seen in the shooting footage.

I now do think the subway stairs photo taken by the cigar store security camera shows likely the same light colored backpack but the angle makes it look more droopy.

The photo on the bicycle after the shooting looks like the same light-colored backpack but it appears to be fuller.

This is an example from the executive that thinks this was their light grey backpack he was using. That tan handle carry strap is unique and is clearly visible in the Starbucks and shooting shots. Peak Design Everyday bag

If they hired a trained hitman, i doubt he would've left all this evidence behind
And yet he got the job done and remains on the loose. Seems rather competent to me.

Because he wanted to spend the night with someone but couldn't at a dorm-style hostel? That's my hunch.

Whoever responsible had previous military/law enforcement training, knew how to deal with a jammed gun, he may not have been an experienced gun for hire but certainly knew weaponry inside out. Am sure many ex military/police would do a private hit for good money even if they not true hitmen

Inside job imho, another senior exec of the country hiring someone to kill him, BT was facing corruption charges, someone very senior was worried about BT turning supergrass to get a lesser sentence/charges dropped and wanted him silenced forever so he could not implicate others. Whoever killed him knew his movements, what door he uses at the hotel etc
He must have been in contact with someone with inside knowledge of BT's schedule. He was waiting almost to the exact minute when he came out of the hotel.

Not that I'm cheering him on, but the way he showed up within minutes to shoot BT...barely made it. It's gives me anxiety how close this cut time wise. I really wish he ran later and BT was earlier that morning.

Another visual comparison of the gray backpack shots .... notice how the straps attach to the bag as well as the shape of the bag.

First photo from this article, second photo from this video

I think these are two different people. The backpack straps are too different, making me think the one with the v-shaped strap attachment is not the shooter but, instead, someone who was dressed similarly to the shooter.

MOO.

Not gonna lie, I think I'm buying this backpack for one of my kids for Christmas. Not the company's desired marketing plan, but I do wonder if sales are going up!

However, CEO's in general have their fingers on the pulse in every aspect of their company. It's their job to oversee and have knowledge of everything that goes on.
Normally, it's delegated to others.

This makes me think the guy was hired or something. Someone who was out for revenge (or personally involved) would not behave so relaxed and cavalier IMO.

Vernon J Geberth, a retired NYPD lieutenant-commander who wrote Practical Homicide Investigation, widely considered to be the seminal textbook on murder inquiries, does not believe that the suspect is a professional killer.

It’s too personal, from my perspective,” said Geberth, who is not involved in the investigation but offering his view based on his years of experience. “Just leaving some of those clues, it’s like somebody making a statement.

“Professional people don’t make statements – they just do the job.”

While there is a lot of evidence, Geberth said, that does not necessarily make for immediate capture of a suspect. Police could glean fingerprints and DNA from the water bottle or cellphone, for example, but that doesn’t lead to a suspect if this information isn’t in a database to which law enforcement has access.

“This person could be someone who never committed a crime before in his life,” Geberth said. “If you’re not in the system, you’re not in the system.”

Geberth said he thinks the killer will be caught as footage of the suspect’s face is now available to the public across America and the world.

I will thinking it was a night away to spend in pleasure, but I'm just guessing of course. 10 days of non-stop work - he might have wanted a break for a night. Speculation only.

Or maybe he needed privacy for some planning tasks that he couldn't get at the hostel. Idk.

Exactly. That's why I said "finger on the pulse" meaning most competent CEO's have an idea of what's going on throughout their entire company, but of course the job of getting the actual work done is, of course, delegated to others.
