Why would he travel to Canada?

Canada has an extradition treaty with the US.

If he fears flying out of a US airport, those same fears apply to Canada: the US and Canada share intelligence and would simultaneously flag him in both countries if he tries to fly out.

And crossing a border crossing requires a valid passport - He'd risk being arrested if they had him flagged.

So it makes no sense for him to cross the border into Canada. Either escape and hide in the US, or fly out of the country via a US airport.
Agree with this. I think he flew out of a US airport on the same day of the killing. The killing was early in the morning so he had plenty of time to fly out by that night from a non New York airport.

I think he could fly to Canada and then from there, fly to another country. I don't think it's an absurd idea and puts distance between him and NYC quickly.

But, I am thinking he went to Newark and flew from there.

Of course, I have no idea.

I’ve been thinking about this too Could have been paid top dollar. Which means it’s not his first one obviously and it means he has been paid before. Meaning he would have plenty of funding, and plenty of access to other criminals to purchase things like the small machines to make fake IDs or yes even latex face mask or that unique pistol. Which is why I think the hostel was more of an operation security choice rather than a price thing.. Also could have had access to purchase or bribe people for information about the CEO’s hotel or plans, could have gotten into one of their group chats. I mean if he’s a pro list could actually go forever.
Bbm.
Yes, I don't doubt that.
Too many coincidences.
Imo.

On Wednesday night (or Thursday), the shooter would have been able to board a plane to anywhere using his real passport. His face wasn’t known, either to law enforcement or to any immigration or border agents. And I strongly suspect his name is still unknown.
Bbm.
Hmm.
Thought LE said they had a name but haven't released it yet ?
But you may be right !

This is definitely a "Catch me if you can" scenario.

I hear ya! Plus, getting DNA analyzed and doing family trees isn't a hobby for every culture or family.

But, I have been thinking this criminal might have relatives who are criminals (maybe even accomplices in this crime). If another relative has been convicted in USA, perhaps his DNA is on file and LE can find a match that way.

If he is of ME descent, I think genetic genealogy won't work unless they get lucky and have close family members who test. With me on my dad's side all records end around 1920 or so. (I'm Armenian, so much of our records were literally purged by Turkey)

I have no idea who anyone is that I match with on GedMatch, except one guy is named in my great grandfather's book. However, I'm not sure how I'm related to him, except my GGF states that he met with a relative (who was the father of this man in Detroit. GGF died in 1967) They were arranging a marriage, but it didn't work out. According to DNA, this man is my third cousin, but there is no documentation anywhere. No records exist anywhere overseas or they are so hard to read because they're written in Arabic script Turkish, which requires special translators in Turkey. Arabic Turkish has been obsolete for 10 years.

Good luck with getting help from an Arab country or Iran or wherever his relatives originally came from.
There's a newer type of familial DNA now being used... Maybe that would be helpful if they retrieve any of his DNA?

Yes. A quick flight from EWR to London or Paris could have been achieved before his face was plastered across the news. He could then bide time and travel by land to his actual destination.

I don't think his original plan was to fly out of the country (unless he is a foreigner). I believe he thought there was no way he would be identified and could just slip back into his normal life at home. I think that is part of "the game". He thinks he is playing it so well that nobody would ever know. That is until the pictures came out. He would find out about them somewhere on his way back home. Now his plan is shot. He has to convert to being on the run, which is much different than returning to his life. But he has to worry now that they already know his name because the pictures are out. He feels he can't risk trying to fly out of the country. He has to find a place in the US to hide out. He has to change his appearance. He has to get access to his money or some other money. It did not work out how he thought, but this is now a part of "the game".

What is a cleanroom suit?
A cleanroom suit is a suit worn over other clothes when someone is working in a "clean" environment, one where you don't want there to be contamination from the outside environment. Might be used working in research animal facility or some factories, making things like food or sensitive equipment. They are typically (always?) disposable. You must change each time you enter the facility in order to keep sterile conditions.

I'd be surprised if the shooter was wearing one. In my experience, they are essentially like wearing a giant trash bag. Hot and can make a lot of noise when moving.

There were 3 spent shell casings and 3 live rounds found at then scene. The gun was working normally, ejecting the spent casings, but the perp was racking the slide after each shot in order to eject each of the live rounds, which had the writings on them. The gun is likely just a suppressed 9mm semiautomatic, and not a rare, WWII era bolt action Welrod. JMHO. There is a YouTuber and video that explains this theory in detail.

Timeline of what we know through msm:

Nov. 24

10:11 p.m. — The suspected shooter arrives in New York City on a Greyhound bus at the Port Authority terminal. The bus originated in Atlanta and made six or seven stops on the way to New York. Police could not immediately determine where he got on the bus.

The man then takes a taxi to the area of the New York Hilton Midtown and is there for about a half hour.

About 11 p.m. — The man takes a taxi to the HI New York City Hostel at 891 Amsterdam Ave., where he stays until the morning of the shooting. He presents an ID that police believe to be fake. Two roommates in a shared room that had bunk beds never saw his face, police said, because he kept his mask on.

When speaking with an employee in the hostel lobby, he briefly pulled down his facemask and smiled — a moment captured on surveillance images that have been widely circulated by police.

Nov. 29

The man was checked out of the hostel, where guests are automatically checked out if they don’t show at the desk by a certain time. Police don’t believe he stayed someplace else and checked back into the same hostel the next day.

Dec. 4

About 5:30 a.m. — The suspected shooter leaves the hostel.

5:41 a.m. — He appears on video at 54th Street and Sixth Avenue walking back and forth in the area of the Hilton hotel where United Healthcare’s parent company, UnitedHealth Group, is holding its annual investor conference.

Police deduce that he rode a bicycle to the Hilton because it took him such a short time to get there. “Could he have stolen the bike? These are things we’re still looking into,” Kenny said.

At some point, he went to a nearby Starbucks and purchased a bottle of water and at least one energy bar before returning to the hotel.(Trying to get warm?)

6:44 a.m. — He shoots Thompson as the executive arrives alone, on foot, having walked from a hotel across the street. The man flees.

6:48 a.m. — The man enters Central Park by bicycle at the 60th Street and Center Drive entrance. It's in the park and away from security cameras that police believe he discards a gray backpack.

6:56 a.m. — He leaves the park at West 77th Street and Central Park West, still on the bicycle.

6:58 a.m. — He passes another camera on 85th Street and Columbus Avenue, still on the bicycle.

7 a.m. — He's at 86th Street, no longer with the bicycle.

7:04 a.m. — He enters a taxi northbound at 86th Street and Amsterdam Avenue.

7:30 a.m. — He's near the George Washington Bridge and the bus terminal there. It offers commuter service to New Jersey and Greyhound routes to Philadelphia, Boston and Washington.

* After the attack, investigators find the words “deny," “defend” and "depose,” written in permanent marker on ammunition at the scene. The words mimic a phrase used by insurance industry critics.

Dec. 6

Kenny and Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch reveal that investigators believe the gunman left New York City on a bus. Investigators say he entered the George Washington Bridge Bus Station but have not found a video of him leaving or getting on a bus.

“It could possibly be a disgruntled employee or a disgruntled client," Kenny says of a possible motive in a briefing.

Police find what they say is the man's backpack. Its contents are not disclosed.

Dec. 7

Police continue to search Central Park; scuba divers are seen scouring a pond. The NYPD releases additional photos showing the suspected shooter next to and in the back seat of a taxi. In both images, he is seen wearing a blue, medical-style face mask.

Despite recovering a fingerprint from the Starbucks purchase and sending items for DNA testing, police have yet to publicly identify the suspect.
Is the 12/4 5 am spotting of the suspect on the UWS near the Frederick Douglass Houses, with an e-bike battery, still a thing?

You but it's real hard. I do know a few people on there. One is my second cousin's son. The other is my dad's cousin sister, who has since died. And I have no idea how my dad was related to his "cousin", except they weren't first cousins.

You need birth certificates, death certificates and family trees. It isn't the quality of DNA, it's the quality of the records available.

If you get a match that's a third cousin, that usually means you share a 2nd great grandparent. Well if that relative didn't live and die in the US, then it can be a dead end, unless there are excellent family trees that include foreign born family members and possibly photocopies of certificates. Many times there isn't. GG works by finding a match. And with luck a tree. But even with a match and no tree, you can find birth and death certificates of the match and work back in time. But if those documents are in a place like Syria, good luck with that!

Crossing the border requires presenting a valid passport to the country you’re entering. He would not have to interact with US law enforcement, and therefore their databases, unless they had totally shut down the outbound lanes and were manually inspecting the each person and/or vehicle.

I assume you have a citation for:

the US and Canada share intelligence and would simultaneously flag him in both countries if he tries to fly out

Can you please provide it? I’m unaware of any binational agreement like this, especially of an automated nature, so I’d be curious to learn more! As far as I know, only very specific entry information is automatically shared after the fact to allow the creation of an exit entry from the other country.

Just my opinion, of course.

I’ve been lurking but struggling to keep up with these threads. In an earlier thread, someone suggested that the shooter’s figure might have looked “womanly” in the video because he was wearing a cleanroom suit that cinched at the waist, causing excess material to bunch up around the hips.

At the time, I thought that sounded fanciful. However, in the new photos, it looks to me like you can see the very edge of the hood of a white cleanroom suit. The best angle is the image of him outside the taxi, but you can also see a thin white edge below his face in the photo in the taxi.

I think this explains why some people think the neck area looks weird/could be a silicone or latex mask. Has there been any further discussion of this?
There was some discussion about realistic silicone masks, probably 2 threads back before the cab pics were released. At that time I did not think he was wearing one at the hostel or Starbucks. I have wondered to myself about the cab pics. Could he have worn one then? I doubt it but it did cross my mind.

Maybe they have it so there's no need to ask the public for help finding it. I suspect the bike was stolen by the time LE knew where to look for it (and maybe the theft is on video, lol!). Or, LE has it.

jmopinion
the bike being stolen seems almost without doubt... but i have doubts. as probably everyone has, i've left bikes for thirty seconds and they've managed to find new owners; and i don't even live in nyc. still, i don't think that's whats happened. another poster mentioned how integral to catching the perp that finding the bike would be, and that seems absoluely true. but relying on its being stolen would leave this key element to chance, and i don't think chance has been part of his plan. if i *wanted* my bike stolen that would be the one time that it wouldn't get stolen. somehow that's a law of nature! this perp has planned things much to carefully (imo) to leave his escape in the hands of an unknown possibly-existing bicycle thief. so idk where it could have gone - probably it's stolen anyway - but this perp hasn't missed much in his planning, and i don't feel he would have missed this, imo.

It looks to me like he has a white shirt under the black shirt or the black shirt has a white trim around neckline like https://www.amazon.com/Sailwind-Short-Sleeve-Contrast-T-Shirt/dp/B0BTVR4BZM.
The Starbucks photos seems to have similar white ring around neck but it's blurry.
