New video obtained by ABC News shows the killer waiting for Thompson moments before the shooting outside a Midtown Manhattan hotel last week. The video shows others pass by, and then, when the masked gunman sees Thompson, he runs across the street and opens fire.

The video, which has not previously been seen publicly, appears to support the police narrative that the shooter targeted Thompson in the Wednesday morning attack because he loitered while others wandered by.

And foreign countries will almost always return people wanted for murder. It's not subject to politics. There are ideological exceptions, like Catholic countries in Europe usually won't extradite if there's a chance of the death penalty in the US.

Not just catholic countries or religion at all, tbh. All EU countries - and others that aren't - are signed up the the European Convention on Human Rights which prevents them doing so.

Wow. They got him (IMHO). I was expecting the manhunt to take at least a month, and I expected him to be much farther away than Pennsylvania.

I would think that LE knows that the gun is more than similar, if they're taking this seriously and releasing information. Can't wait to see who this guy is.

I get what you're saying here but I have a couple of issues; the "silencer" wasn't a good idea at all. It hugely increased the size of the weapon and is almost certainly what caused the gun to malfunction. It was also pointless as it's not going to hide your activity to any meaningful degree. Waving a massive pistol about and shooting someone in the back is going to get you all the attention in the world, regardless of how quiet the shot is.

This is why, to me, he presents as a random Walt/fantasist type.

As to someone else being around to shoot the shooter - very unlikely, imo. NYC doesn't give carry permits out too readily so realistically the only person likely to be near with a gun would be a cop and there weren't any at the time.

I think if it wasn't for the silencer he'd have a lot harder time getting away. If everyone around heard a loud gunshot, they'd be much more inclined to be on the lookout for suspicious activity. Just my opinion though.

Wonder if someone matching suspect's description was stopped and searched. But why would he still be out and about with the gun at least several days after presumably having reached PA? Or did they find a registered owner of a similar weapon? Or even find an owner based on ballistics?

Most states in the US do not register guns to owners. New York does, but most do not. PA does not register guns. This kind of gun was sold legally, and although very expensive, there are undoubtedly buyers who would buy it for its collector appeal. In most handgun sales in the US, a Federal Form 4473 is filled out, and a background check performed. The dealer must retain the 4473. My guess is that there has been a search for sales of the B&T pistol, and a dealer identified a buyer. This person could be innocent, though.

If this is an individual who has been stopped by police, and the unusual pistol found on his person or on his belongings, that's a different story.
