People keep talking about this weapon being a device to euthanize animals but I've also heard talk of other types of weapons. But nothing verifying the claim it truly is a device used by vets. I always like to read comments in the news articles that generate a lot of responses and I really like this response from a person who is very familiar with weapons. From a NYPost article dated December 7, 2024

There are two components to suppressing a firearm. The first is to use "quieter" ammunition which is that below about 1000 fps (varies depending on altitude, humidity, etc.) and the second is to "muffle" the burning gas, like with a suppressor.

The suppressor doesn't (typically) slow down a bullet, so if it is super-sonic, it'll still make the "crack" sound. If you use sub-sonic ammunition, you still have the explosive "pop" of gasses as the bullet leaves the barrel.
For a "silenced" firearm, you need sub-sonic ammunition and a suppressor to muffle it.

And sub-sonic ammunition (like 9mm) uses less powder so the bullet flies slower, but this also means reduced power to cycle the action (fling the slide back) so you either "stovepipe" it requiring clearing, or just won't feed the next round. Either way, you cycle the gun to clear and chamber the next round
interesting, thanks for this. idk much about the intracacies of ammunition (or firearms for that matter) but also, maybe of relevance to this info, the b&t vp9 or station 6, are both bolt-action pistols. (i recall reading that this lends itself favoursbly to noise suppression). one thing though from my understanding, i don't think there's a need to cycle the action; bolts are (by defition) manually manipulated - there's no scavenging of energy to add to functionality.

Has anyone found this website yet? the URL is the same as what was carved onto the bullets he ejected. Also should be noted the gun didn't jam, he purposely ejected these three rounds. The bullet that hit the back of the targets right calf must have been a misfire when he was ejecting. Imagine holding the gun in right hand, then slowly turn it sideways to eject and pay attention to where your barrel is pointed, down and to the right, which is where the targets calf would be. About

Look at this book title!
We have had much discussion about the apparent single shot weapon used in this murder, you can search in this thread to see the same information you are posting.
The words on the shells/bullet were written with a sharpie.
The book with that title has been discussed. One word is reportedly different. Subsitute Depose for Defend

The only DNA that matters is the DNA at the scene. What a screw up if he couldn’t wait for 20 minutes to get a snack.
Agreed! They have stated they have DNA from the bullet casings at the scene. Any other is just icing on the cake.

If he crossed into Canada I think we would know.

He’d have to clear customs, remove his mask, passport would be recorded. Border Agents would be on alert very quickly.

How is he living? Where is his money coming from? How is he accessing it?

If he had fled the country I think LE would know that.

IMO he’s still in the US. I honestly don’t think his mission is over. I’m concerned about more murders or at the very least, attempted murders.

This guy is an adrenaline junkie. He’s enjoying the attention and notoriety.

He’s not finished yet.

MOO

Bad sign. On CNN a reporter (live, not pretaped) just said as much. Said NYPD is "expected" to give an update early this week. That didn't sound too good. Also said the "only" things found in the backpack were the Monopoly $ & jacket, which I think is different from earlier reporting where it hadn't been confirmed whether there was anything else aside from those 2.
from who's perspective? lol

To add to this, I’d imagine the hostel caters to international travelers which would likely make it exponentially more difficult to track down and obtain DNA samples from other travelers who stayed in that room/on the same floor, especially if they have left the country. Different countries have different stances regarding the collection of DNA for criminal investigations and may be reluctant to assist NYPD in obtaining DNA samples, especially if the DNA being requested is not from someone suspected of committing any crime. MOO.
Yes, and the shooter was well aware of this IMO.

What he was careful about during his stay was not to talk much with roommates and guests, and to hide his face, other than the moment he had to lower the mask. I don't know why he didn't just say, I'm sick or have an injury or rash I'm embarrassed about, but then maybe he wouldn't have been allowed to stay. He could also have turned away from the camera saying something like my stalker ex girlfriend is searching me so I'll show you away from the camera. But again, that would draw too much attention I suppose.

If this person was a hired hitman do you think they would be worried about the price of the location? I think he chose the hostel because of lack of security and like mentioned already his dna would not be isolated to one room. Although how many people usually share a room? 3? 5? Even if it was 10, shouldn't be hard to go through each of the DNA profiles of the room.
There's a lot of turnover in the rooms as well. So if it was a 6 person dorm, and he stayed 10 days, there could have hypothetically been 51 sets of DNA there (assuming the other 5 beds were occupied by a different person each night) from just those ten days.

He was there for 10 days though. He would have had different roommates during all his time there.

Yeah, also worth noting this particular hostel is $200+ a night. So, although they seem "cheap", and probably are by NYC standards, these aren't like Motel6 prices.
Maybe you are just repeating info you read on here but rooms there are closer to $50 than $200.

I would be VERY surprised if 9mm ammo was used to euthanize animals. if you had to do it to a small animal it would ruin the body. like in a really bad way. Even cattle are killed by a bolt that retracts back into the gun. Plus the cost of the ammunition vs other more humane methods is just way too much.

it depends on the season, like all hotels

Up to 14 people in some of the rooms of this specific hostel.

i guest you really can’t compare the three cases but the shooter is starting to remind me of Robert Cooper Al Kites killer in 2004 and Shelbey Thornburgh killer in 2015. Meaning he is caught on camera but is either never apprehended or is extremely hard to catch playing mind games with the authorities.

Makes me wonder who on the inside told the killer the schedule of the CEO and how and where to wait for him?

It was, as I understand it, a shareholders meeting. Many people buy 1 share of a stock to get closer to the CEO's/other management during those days (sometimes two days). My understanding is that the first day of this shareholder event (all held at the same hotel) was a run up to the second day, which was the fohttps://finance.yahoo.com/news/unitedhealth-group-insiders-sell-us-120027214.htmlrmal meet-the-shareholders day. Dissenting shareholders for this particular equity company might be fairly large.

Other stockholders were miffed/worried about the legal troubles and possible criminal fraud at UHC:

The reason for the sell off is a rabbit hole.

So all someone has to do to get access to such events is buy 1 share of stock. Further, the crowd gathers and it's not exactly orderly once it starts (this particular company has had its share of protesters).

If the perp came into town 10 or more days earlier, they had quite a bit of time to scope out the itinerary of the CEO of the company they hated (if that was the motivation).

BT's wife told NBC that he had received death threats. I can understand how he decided to simply defy those threats (he was, after all, paid to do exactly that and I am boggled by his actual paycheck). I am also boggled by this company's reported profits and returns to equity share holders. All of this was the subject matter of this "conference." Feelings were heated.

IMO.

I noticed on the HI Hostel website that it says “Free towels and Bed Sheets.” To me, that indicates the guests might be free to change -and thus dispose of - bedsheets/towels. Maybe there’s a big hamper or a laundry area of some kind. A DNA nightmare.

This was not a shareholders meeting. It was an investors conference for United Healthgroup. This would be for analysts and institutional investors, not individual shareholders.

And prices generally go up if you don't reserve ahead of time. If you were to stay tonight in the men's 14-bed dorm, it would be $96.

i really feel he is manipulated by others. I have no doubts that he is capable of other murders, but has he been directly to do so, or has he been directed to lay low.
