The gun is supposedly for cattle and horses and similar.

Not small animal vet, but large animal vet

Vets do not, according to my veterinarian sister, use the same euthanasia method as feed lots/beef processors (who use bolts). Some open range cattle purveyors use the bolt gun, not the bolt method (not sure why - said to be more humane, do not know how that is ever judged).

When it's expensive race horses, though, there's a need to have it be silent (provided by this gun) and humane (quick). Which methods are more humane? My dad always said a gun was quickest and I read that a lot.

IMO.
Yea a gun is faster. bullets move faster than sound. if someone is hit in the head they didn't even get a chance to hear the gunshot. I just thought it was interesting I don't think I've ever heard of a 9mm to be used for animals unless they were a farmer/personal horse or something..

And the girl doesn’t remember anything , ? His voice ? Accent? What they talked about ? Weird
Weird?
How do you know the girl doesn’t remember anything? Doesn't remember his voice? Accent? Or what they talked about?
LE and FBI haven't released any of that information yet.

I noticed on the HI Hostel website that it says “Free towels and Bed Sheets.” To me, that indicates the guests might be free to change -and thus dispose of - bedsheets/towels. Maybe there’s a big hamper or a laundry area of some kind. A DNA nightmare.
It’s been a while since I stayed in a hostel but this could be because the base charge is for a bed and access to the bathrooms. These are typically very no-frills establishments. Sheets were often an additional add-on because some travelers bring their own sheets or backpacks that they use on the bed. It doesn’t mean the hostel is giving you a set of sheets for free to walk away with, it just means this hostel isn’t going to charge you to use a set of their sheets. I imagine they still expect them back or they will charge you additionally for them.

Yikes, I was about to respond to this but got lost in the last thread, so I’m screenshotting.

In my opinion, those who know me well would absolutely recognize me.

My family probably wouldn’t turn me in, but I don’t know what friends, neighbors, colleagues, people who work in stores I frequent etc. would do if they knew I murdered someone (they SHOULD turn me in).

Awhile back someone was pondering if the suspect was actually a pair of twins. This because he looks the same but slightly different in the photos, and because of the many changes of clothes.

I’m convinced it’s just the one guy.

I happen to be an identical twin. If my twin or I had done this, just one of us, the police can still distinguish which one of us was the culprit if fingerprints were discovered.

My sister and I look just alike except to those closest to us, and everyone else gets us confused. However, like all identical twins, we do not have the same fingerprints.

Fingerprints are formed by how the developing baby touches the mother’s womb, and is unique even in identical twins.

Only one person shot BT. On the very, very, very off-chance that there are twins here, the killer could still be identified this way.

I think one simple reason (beyond theories like he was an overseas assassin) for no one stepping forward with a definitive identification is if they usually saw him with a beard and he was clean shaven specifically for the crime. A beard can make someone look completely different to a casual acquaintance. His family would probably not be fooled but they wouldn’t turn him in. JMO

This was not a shareholders meeting. It was an investors conference for United Healthgroup. This would be for analysts and institutional investors, not individual shareholders.

Thank you. What is the distinction between investors and shareholders? This is a publicly traded company. Do they have an extra mechanism for gaining investments?

Are you saying that shareholders are not invited for Investment Day?

If they are not, then more cause for angst and anger. It is surely publicized as exactly what it is: a day for investors to meet and greet the upper echelon of the company.

Was it not announced more generally? Was there security to bar regular investors? If individual shareholders find out about it, one way or another (and I think they would), might they not be irked?

New York City police were searching the waters of Central Park as authorities continue their investigation into the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, according to sources.

The police department’s scuba team was searching for evidence, including the gun used in Thompson's killing, two law enforcement sources said.

where is this data coming from??? important.
I think, The mayor of NY said it but then walked the comment back. That's the last official news I heard.

On Friday evening, investigators found a backpack in Central Park that had been worn by the gunman, police said. They didn’t immediately reveal what, if anything, it contained but said it would be tested and analyzed. Images from FOX 5 NY show officers guarding a brown bag filled with clothing.

This TJ Maxx bag filled with clothes is interesting. I kept envisioning a plastic bag. Was this paper bag in the backpack? If not, I am very surprised it lasted there that long without being taken by a rando at CP. Also, not sure what the weather was the few days it was there (if it truly was there a few days) but I would expect it to look more "weathered".

This is an important differentiation. Different audience.

Is it? Do ordinary shareholders in a business environment as fraught as this one...not have any information about public meetings of this company?

I ask because I have a brokerage account and was following UHC. The amount of news articles and press releases associated with it is large. I think it's required by law that meetings of investors be publicized in some way (not Brown-acted, maybe, but still press released).

If it's a different audience, then even more reason for the banned shareholders to be upset.

IMO. Trying to get more investors when current investors are upset is not a good look (and that appears to be the case, IMO). Also, I believe NASDAQ requires such attempts to solicit stock (non-retail equities) to be disclosed by press release.

It's a rabbit hole that maybe some WSer might want to go down.

IMO.

I see. So, it’s less of a cabinet full of clean sheets and more that you are loaned a set. That makes sense to prevent sheet theft, which is probably a thing. Thanks!

Re: Thanksgiving...I think it's as easy as, "sorry Mom/whomever, I won't be home for Thanksgiving this year. I'm spending it with friends/girlfriend's family/I have to work/etc." Many families wouldn't question that, or require Proof Of Turkey Consumed.
If he was a student AND he was far away, he could just say coming home late Dec/Jan. Saving $; working on a project etc.

Posted Dec. 6. Was it ever stated what shooter put in the trash pile? TIA

@CBSNews

New video obtained by CBS News shows what appears to be the gunman who killed UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson walking west along 55th Street in Manhattan and briefly stopping at a pile of trash minutes after he visited a nearby Starbucks. https://cbsn.ws/49H1Uyd

Now that the public approves of assassins, as evidenced by showing support of this killer, it might become standard for CEOs to wear vests and then anyone working in an industry that others don't approve of, and then...on and on.

Lovely.

Moo...I live in Canada, small town. Used to be all independent businesses. Now all grocery stores, veterinary clinics, most restaurants are conglomerate businesses. They said they would be cheaper...but they are not. So yes, it would be wise to have security..moo

If he crossed into Canada I think we would know.

He’d have to clear customs, remove his mask, passport would be recorded. Border Agents would be on alert very quickly.

How is he living? Where is his money coming from? How is he accessing it?

If he had fled the country I think LE would know that.

IMO he’s still in the US. I honestly don’t think his mission is over. I’m concerned about more murders or at the very least, attempted murders.

This guy is an adrenaline junkie. He’s enjoying the attention and notoriety.

He’s not finished yet.

MOO
i suppose there's a possibility of more targets but i'd think, if that were the case, they'd have to be closely related to whatever was circumstance and impetus triggered this BT killing. i don't, myself, think there will be more, but only an opinion of course and may be completely wrong.
but i'm inclined to disagree with your last comment about "enjoying attention and notoriety". i haven't read/ seen anything referring to his actions since the shooting which would give any indication of his reaction to the shooting or the attention/ media response at all. i don't think that he's shown any interest for anything except escaping - which has been accomplished with near secrecy - seemingly the opposite of any bravado/ attention seeking or enjoyment; he's essentially just quietly disappeared. respectfully, i'm not sure what draws you to that conclusion.

You understand it incorrectly, it was an INVESTORS CONFERENCE not the annual shareholders meeting. This has been corrected on every thread I have read so far, so maybe you got the incorrect info here.

Yes. There’s no need for confusion folks. It’s clear information that has been known. It’s a one day conference and is for institutional investors only, so it’s very exclusive. This is relevant information. The attendees are venture capitalists, maybe politicians. It wasn’t public per se, for example the location at the Hilton was not publicly known on the internet. The agenda for the day has still never been posted or known. We have no idea who else was to speak that day, when or if BT was supposed to speak (very likely). It’s an invite only event, ticket sales not open to general public. There would certainly be enough attendees that I’m sure this information can get out however.

I’ve expressed this before but it’s not an intimate event or a stuffy board room presentation. It’s an elaborate presentation, like an apple keynote address. It’s marketing essentially. It’s livestreamed for others as well. Lots of preparation for a big public presentation. This would take place pretty much all day. Here’s an image from another year: Google Image Result for https://imgproxy.divecdn.com/yi7b6G18DPRJOGfY2bAtFG9sU-HWnzZp1n7CBLJGUvY/crop:3588:2027/background:0:0:0/g:nowe:91:0/rs:fill:0:860:0/Z3M6Ly9kaXZlc2l0ZS1zdG9yYWdlL2RpdmVpbWFnZS93aXR0eV9zcGVha3NfdW5nX2NvbmZfNC5wbmc=.webp

All of the above is important to understanding motive, sequence of events, etc. This was entirely about messaging for a very specific circle.

I think many people are UNDERestimating the capabilities of LE. We already know the FBI is assisting with the investigation, and I’d be surprised if the US Marshals aren’t assisting as well.

They found Kaitlin Armstrong at an off-the-beaten-path hostel in Costa Rica after she fled the country (and after she had plastic surgery to change her appearance). Burner phones can be traced to their point of sale. Genetic genealogy was utilized to locate and arrest the illegal immigrant from El Salvador (aka “a foreigner”) who killed Rachel Morin — in less than ten months. And LE has 20x the amount of manpower working on this case. Complex investigations often take time, but I have all the confidence in the world they’ll eventually catch up with this guy.

I was wondering if he took his sheets & towels away with him …. Sheets would be dna goldmine …
I don't know what time LE learned that he stayed in the hostel, but by the time they got there, the sheets may have already been stripped from all the beds and been in the laundry. Good luck identifying which ones were his, even if you catch them before they hit the washing machine.

Exactly. It's considered a more humane way to put down horses. Source: Sister does Horse/big animal veterinary. She says the amount of time it takes for drugs to be administered via IV can lead to horse suffering.

She does not like and is devoted to non-suffering for animals. And she's a horse owner and a horse person.

Even if she's wrong, she feels better about silent, rapid bullets (as did my dad, after service in WW2).

IMO. All this is beside the point except that maybe it pertains to the killer's state of mind.

I have never, not once, seen a manhunt like this not result in an arrest. From the Austin bomber to the Boston Bombers, to the Beltway Snipers, it happens every single time without fail. The evidence to capture him is absolutely there, and it's just a matter of time.
