He'll probably enjoy the hero worship he'll get from certain people.
It wasn't that long ago when a man who shot an unarmed person in the back was deemed a coward.

Thanks a LOT u guys, now I'll never clean the house today.
My thoughts too. I started Christmas cookies when MassGuy posted the first news report about the PAGuy. Not convenient! (But also not complaining.)

Not that I want the killer to be wise, but he really should've left the country like I suggested. :)

Was he taken into custody at McDonalds or on the bus? Reading conflicting info. Curious about his destination if he was on the bus.

Hmm. Who hangs out at McDonalds long enough for police to come? Maybe, of course, but JMO, perp wouldn't hang anywhere for long knowing his face was all over the Internet.
If it was a stop on the greyhound bus he was on, then he might not have a choice how long they stayed at one location. I am going to look at the bus schedule now to see, but if they stopped as part of a scheduled stop, it could be that time is not up to him. The news was reporting LE was in Atlanta tracing the bus he came up on so maybe he felt confident they were not going to be in PA looking for him.

I’m shocked that he still has the weapon and everything else on him. Maybe he just didn’t care about being caught after the fact. Crazy!

Where is this being reported, please?

TIA.

Sounds like it was a McDonald’s employee. So either the McDonald’s itself, or the bus after he got back on.

Color me shocked that guns can be so freely carried on buses.

For crying out loud, if he couldn't part with his expensive weapon, then bury it somewhere and return to retrieve it 6 months from now. Big mistake...Huge !
I'm wondering if he "borrowed" the gun from someone who doesn't know and he had to return it?

A man in Altoona, Pennsylvania, was stopped with a fake New Jersey ID and is being held for questioning in connection with the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City, law enforcement sources told ABC News.

The man had walked into a McDonald's where a witness recognized him from the images circulated by police, sources said.

The man had a similar gun to the one used in Wednesday's assassination-style killing outside a Midtown Manhattan hotel, the sources said. Altoona police also recovered a computer.

It took long enough.
But hopefully this is coming to a close ?

He seemed meticulous in his planning. Did a great job of quickly getting out of NYC. Then it all fell apart. Did he have help planning but they dropped him as soon as the task was done? His post murder moves all seem REALLY dumb.
If this is actually him, it fell apart pretty quickly. Maybe he panicked once the authorities released the cab pictures showing his face?

The man has been arrested in Altoona on local charges, possibly in connection with presenting false identification to the police, a senior law enforcement official said. To be charged in New York he would need to be extradited, the official added.

The man detained in the McDonald’s in Altoona had what investigators believe was a ghost gun — meaning it was put together with parts sold online — that matches the gun believed to have been used in the shooting, a senior law enforcement official said.

"The man ... allegedly had a manifesto on him when he was taken into custody by cops in Altoona, Pa.

He also had a gun, silencer, four fake IDs and other items “consistent” with what authorities were looking for in the case, sources said."

Told you!

Random nutjob.

Either the suspect is beyond dumb (which is the most likely possibility MOO), or he was holding onto the gun and fake IDs because he had other 'targets' in his crosshairs. If it is the latter, I'm sure a search of the computer found in his possession will reveal what the next step(s) in his 'plan' was.
Rbm.
Could be a bit of both ?
My first guess was a disgruntled policy holder.
But we'll see. Imo.

And elderly person makes sense. They are actually engaged in the world around them and not on a cell phone scrolling.
I'm elderly and I would have been looking at the news and reading on WS if I was there, LOL.

A young guy guns down a middle-aged CEO and an older citizen takes the killer down. Love the ending of that story.

Looking at google maps and the Greyhound bus station in Altoona, PA is right across from a McDonalds.

From the gifted link (thank you!):

The man who was detained at McDonald's showed the police the same fake New Jersey identification that the man believed to be the gunman presented when he checked into a hostel on the Upper West Side of Manhattan on Nov. 24, a senior law enforcement official said.
That's a helluva lot of coincidences:

Fake NJ ID with the same name as on the one used in the hostel ( That's how I'm reading it, please correct me if I am wrong_

A gun, of an appearance similar to the murder weapon.

A manifesto

Bet he was also wearing a facemask.
