He's lovin' it.

I guess if you had to eat while on the run, a chain restaurant would be the safer option than other options.
Vending machine would be a better choice, or a busy grocery store with self-checkout. I don't get why he would be carrying evidence on him. That's doesn't add up. Someone who doesn't want to get caught would have altered their appearance and lay low and certainly not carry anything tying him to the shooting.

I am thinking anti capitalist protestor.
If the culprit is revealed to be some sort of neo-Nazi or fan of far right web-sites, then that would be awkward for some of the anti-capitalist types who have cheered him on.

But yes, I think you're probably right, or someone who has a particular grudge against that company.

I’ve been saying for a while, people were giving him way too much credit.

Some super villain genius, foreign hired assassin, who intentionally left DNA because he was so far ahead of police it didn’t matter.

Nope.

It was always really simple.

I can’t wait to learn the full details.

And you are right, as usual!

I do think he figured he would get caught, and in some sense, was "willing" to get caught. His goal was accomplished, but what next? Nothing but a life on the run.

If it's true he had writings with him (which doesn't surprise me at all), then he'll find a certain kind of lawyer and the next few years, he'll have a platform for his views (unless a judge somewhere makes him shut up - which is possible, but would be an interesting First Amendment case. It would be a case his lawyers could appeal before trial and get his talking points across for him.

It would keep his issue with insurance companies in the public eye for years to come.

I wish you could be at his questioning, MassGuy!

That's a helluva lot of coincidences:

Fake NJ ID with the same name as on the one used in the hostel ( That's how I'm reading it, please correct me if I am wrong_

A gun, of an appearance similar to the murder weapon.

A manifesto

Bet he was also wearing a facemask.
wonder if the manifesto is on his laptop that he had. I think he must have had his other backpack with his stuff in it stashed somewhere near the GWB bus station. I mean how did he end up with his laptop?

True, Clearskies,
But he was running out of options.
He was running out of money.
He was very tired too.

Thank you Observant Citizens of PA, Thank you NYPD for all your hardwork!

And the tickets can be paid in cash without drawing a lot of attention. Someone paying cash for a ticket to Paris would draw attention.

I figured the shot in the leg was intentional so he would be hobbled.
It sort of looks that way but I would say, without a clean head shot, he risked him living. Life saving techniques are much better than they used to be. Unfortunately, it wasn’t good enough this time.

He probably had the laptop with him at all times. Not unlikely.

MOO

Lesson for law enforcement though- this guy would have gotten away with this if he had not shown his face to anyone and not left any DNA at the scene. Both of which he could easily have done. In spite of having 40,000 cameras in NYC it was only because he screwed up that they got his picture, that led to him being captured.

Unless he gave them permission, they’d need a warrant to search his laptop. I think these writings were on paper.

From the ABC news report:

The man was on a Greyhound bus traveling through Altoona on Monday morning, sources said, when he got off and walked into a McDonald's where a witness recognized him from the images of the suspect circulated by police, sources said.

The man had a similar gun to the one used in Wednesday's assassination-style killing outside a Midtown Manhattan hotel, sources said.

One of the Altoona man's fake IDs also matched the fake ID shown by the suspected gunman when he checked into an Upper West Side hostel before the shooting, sources said.”

I think he’s going to be like your standard assassin. Some creepy loner weirdo who people who know him would describe as “odd.”

We’re not talking about some well adjusted guy with a wide circle of friends.

I initially thought he was an outlier in that regard because of how well planned this was. The alleged manifesto means he’s just like the rest, only a better planner.
100%
He planned the murder and initial getaway well, but he failed to plan for how to hide out until the heat died down. Criminals always trip themselves up in one way or another.

Somewhat unbelievable. With all of that careful planning and he keeps the gun?
Suggest he wasn't done with it yet JMO Makes me wonder what other victims he had in mind.

I still can't get past the monopoly money in the back pack bit. Like who IS this dude? He's so clever stupid I am left shaking my head.

The 26-year-old was picked up at a McDonald’s in Altoona after an employee thought he looked like the man in New York Police Department photos and called police, the sources said. He had fake IDs, including one NYPD believes was used by the killing suspect in New York, they said.

plural fake IDs, the gun and suppressor still on him.

He may have been hunkered down in the city and when it was reported that LE was considering him out of the area, and had Atlanta on their radar, he felt it was okay to make his move. He's really not that far away from NYC. Could have bused to Philly and then on to Altoona.

Breaking: Man arrested on local charges over ‘showing police fake ID’, source says
The man who police had detained for questioning in Altoona, Pennsylvania, has been arrested on local charges, possibly in connection with presenting false identification to authorities, a senior law enforcement official told The New York Times.

He would have to be extradited if he was charged in New York, according to the official.

Would it, though? Chain outlets are more likely to have cameras and trained staff. Maybe an independent coffee shop or cafe would be safer, if available.

Agree completely.
