IMO 100% he's taking this to trial. Trial will have millions of eyes on it, and a perfect soapbox for sharing his ideology that no doubt MANY MANY MANY Americans will agree with.
There are different ways of committing murder. One is so obvious, gun in broad daylight. Yet other has a few more layers, denying out of network care, even though less expensive for the ins. Co. Denying denying meds, xrays, mri's, full blood panels. Need to move to a new city, and so sorry no primary care physician openings so you are blocked from seeing a specialist. These decisions are just as deadly as the action taken with a gun. Just that we are genteel and literally powerless to fight back against a little slower but just as effective murder. JMO

Anti-capitalist, extremist, elitist, Unabomber-like, young, wealthy.
Exactly who I thought he was. Probably a first for me!
I would add misguided idealist to that list of adjectives.

Trust me. People are gonna find him admirable!

Given the degree of damage to his spine shown in the x-ray on his X profile ( x.com ), he might have been, almost certainly was in, really bad pain. Probably all the time. Indeed, to me it looks like he needs more surgery.

So he might have felt his life was already ruined and he could not get healthcare or maybe had to accept only certain job offers that allowed him to WFH.

Pain can make people do really crazy things. And it causes a shutdown in ordinary rational thinking.

Just a guess.

Not necessarily HIS X ray.

I saw it, it could have just been a display.

He looks incredibly firm hard to believe he’s in dreadful back pain.

I live with it…it’s my spine and I had surgery. Never thought about killing anyone involved in my care or lack there of.
No, I haven't, either. I was just responding to a post about "pain", not offering it as an excuse of cause in this case.

And, if the murder was, indeed, related to an issue with serious/chronic pain, I don't think it was aimed at someone "involved in his care or lack thereof". This is obviously much, much bigger than that.

So he potentially trashed his family's reputation too.

My armchair analysis (which is so worthless I should pay you for it) is that he was at a crossroads in life. He lamented he was born too late to make great contributions like coming up with the Pythagorean theory. I think he's been the charming golden boy for his whole life and now had to make something of himself on his own. And he crumbled. So instead of facing failure (or the challenges success requires), he trashed his potential and now has the excuse of being imprisoned so of course he can't be an achiever. His consolation prize is people think he's Robin Hood.

Nope, we are at the crossroads of a new revolution- the AI revolution and he was trained as a CS/AI engineer. He could have absolutely made positive contributions there if he wanted to have impact instead of the dark road he chose.

His background, the social media presence, numerous pictures, former classmates, professors, relatives, work environments and no one recognized him to call it in in the last 6 days? Seems unbelievable.
Maybe they did, but were still going through the thousands of tips.
Then it took an elderly stranger and a Mcdonald's employee to out him? Today, six days later.

Even if people did call him in and his name was known, that in and of itself does not find him. And I'm sure that many other names were called in as well, as he's not unique looking, especially with the jacket and hood.

The elderly McDonald's customer "found" him. The girl at the counter probably agreed he was a close match.

The McDonald's was immediately opposite the bus station..

I assume he was mostly masked on the bus (and I believe he was traveling by bus), but removed his mask to eat, as people do.

IMO

Perhaps someone he loves is.

It's always the smart ones. You can use your smarts for good or for bad. The dumb ones never make it far.
Yep and also the ultra-capitalist, Che Guevera came from an upper class family!
(Your avatar made me think of Che!)

Maybe this guy was a Che wanna-be...

So, not one of his friends or family recognized his masked picture?
There were a lot of people who knew him, but it took a brave person at McDonalds to make the call…

No doubt, some of the fan club are writing letters right now. moo
Yeah, if the menendez brothers could get fan mail and wives when in prison, why not this guy? He seems way “better” than them. A true anti-hero/crusader type. Women and girls will be falling over themselves for him.

Some people were pegging him for a tech bro based on his choice of clothes, and they were right!
And.... a similar big shout out to the poster who stated that he was way too "non grungy" to be Antifa or an anarchist.

Thinking that though anybody can buy an expensive back pack as a prop, or ditch the habitually worn Trump fanware, or say, torn black jeans and / badly tied Keffiyeh scarf, its far harder to change one's core look-no matter who we are.

Rather, that look is part of who we are. Efforts to change that core look look probably take time and thought or the end result is going to be "badly done disguise" vibes.

He's seems pretty stupid for an ivy league education and being a valedictorian...
He's basically a kid, though. One who by the sounds of it has led a pretty sheltered and cosseted life. High level education and confidence in public speaking is not the same is not the same as intelligence in the form of critical thinking and making rational decisions.

My grandfather had a saying about well schooled, intelligent people who basically had few life skills and ability to cope with life......educated beyond their intelligence

MOO - but I'm beginning to think HE wasn't the one who was having the medical issues.
He had no problems getting around NY on a bike and walking around in the moments leading up to BT's death.
Nor, if the right hand photo on his Twitter header is to be believed, hiking in the mountains while stripped to the waist.

This is true! He was also a medical doctor. It is also a frequent phenomenon. For example, the Red Army Faction terrorists in Germany in the 1970s came from well-to-do middle class families. This is why it was called "The War of the Middle Class Kids."

THE SHORT STORY, PLEASE REMEMBER TO POST LINKS
Hi Everyone,
I am making this font LARGE so everyone will read it.
When you make a post about a new fact and do not post a link to go along with your post it will be removed.
When you don't post links to your sources it makes the mods heads explode. Or I should say it makes my head explode.
If it is a fact you got in the press conference, at least post the approximate time the fact was stated. That would be a huge help.
We have imposters on all kinds of threads posting misinformation just for fun. This is why we have these rules.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO POST LINKS.
Thanks,
Tricia

If the Delay Deny Defend book by Jay Feinman is on his Goodreads list, it would be a nice extra piece of circumstantial piece of evidence in connection with the bullets.

It's not on his list of books he has read.

Nor does he mention a battle against health insurance companies on his X (he certainly mentions adjacent causes).

You are right of course. University degrees don't equal education. I've met several non-college degree holders who are much smarter and educated than those with actual degrees. As I sometimes like to say, Socrates did not have a Philosophy degree.

He will have a certain appeal to many.

To me he looks nothing like the photos PYPD released and I would never have picked him out at McDonald's.

What a catch by that person.
