To state that people here who aren't hero-worshipping a murderer is because they don't understand insurance issues is incorrect, imo. We are not required to recite our personal insurance woes in order to have a valid opinion.

I think health-insurance is unfair, and our justice system is unfair, and our political system is unfair, and school admissions is unfair, and affordable housing is unfair....but that doesn't mean murder is the answer or that a violent killer deserves a fan club.

Wait, what? There's a fan club for him on Websleuths? I sure missed a lot, this thread is cruising.

The New York Times and CNN obtained an internal NYPD report that walked through a “manifesto” found on Mangione when he was arrested, and noted Mangione “appeared to view the targeted killing of the company’s highest-ranking representative as a symbolic takedown and a direct challenge to its alleged corruption and ‘power games,’ asserting in his note he is the ‘first to face it with such brutal honesty.’”

Also the older coffee drinking crowd at McDonalds likely picks up on many many things that most of us might not as we hurry along grabbing breakfast and dashing out. They live there so probably know the bus stops there across the way and maybe many mornings they sit there chatting over coffee and see a crowd come in from the bus stop. Let's say none have masks except this guy, he sits in a back corner and is overly dressed.. had over his eyebrows, facemask on, several layers. He was out of place.
Yup. And with no doubt a Macbook? I thought I was the only one who liked getting out my Pro in places like Walmart lobbies and Cracker Barrel etc to do a little work.

Luigi Mangione extradition hearing scheduled for 1:30ET. We'll find out how quickly this process will move to get him transported back to NYC to face a judge. I'll be inside the courtroom again to provide color since there are no cameras allowed.

Law enforcement continues to seek the public’s help in gathering information on Luigi Mangione’s travel and recent whereabouts in Pennsylvania. We ask anyone with information to call 1-800-4PA-TIPS or submit a tip online at p3tips.com/tipform.aspx?I….

I didn't read the Pythagorean theorem part that way. He was saying his younger self might have felt cocky like that. Then he went on to express gratitude that he was standing on the shoulders of giants.
If this was his high school graduation speech, I am curious what younger self he was referring to. lol I guess his 16 year old self or was he talking about elementary school? Sounds like he really thinks highly of himself.

I didn't realize that he went back to MD for his surgery. Hopefully, I can edit my post. I was wondering why he would have surgery in Hawaii. So, was his roommate a former roommate by the time the surgery took place? I actually don't think the surgery was botched. I sure wish the surgeon could speak about the operation, but I know that he can't.

I am just going by what I saw of this guy on video and also him taking a bus for long periods of time and staying in a hostel with roommates. The roomies at the Hostel would be able to tell if LM seemed like he had trouble getting around. I can't see those beds as being top of the line. I would think that his back would be killing him after sleeping in one. I know that my back would be killing me; and I don't really have back problems.

JMO.

But how would we know he wasn't in pain? It's invisible to others, kinda like a migraine. We cannot tell by looking if someone is in pain unless they tell someone.

I think that the killing of a law enforcement officer and a few other categories is "aggravated murder" under New York state law. I was looking at this last night to try to determine why he is being charged with second-degree murder. Maybe there is a verified attorney on this thread who can weigh in on this.

I have not yet been verified (info sent), but I have been practicing criminal law in the tri-state area for over six years.

In short, PL 125.25 (second degree murder) blanket covers the intentional killing of another. It is more commonly used than PL 125.26 (aggravated murder) and 125.27 (first degree murder). PL 125.27 also covers intentional killings, but it requires some other special circumstance to be present (such as the victim being LE, a judge, firefighter, etc.; felony murder; contract killing; etc.). Aggravated murder is an intentional killing of a specific type of victim (LE, fire, etc.), but the statute significantly overlaps with first degree murder. 125.27 is about special circumstances, and 125.26 is specifically about the victim.

125.25, 125.26, and 125.27 are all A-I felonies with similar penalties.

It comes down to this and perhaps a type of confusion surrounding dating in general... imo, total speculation.
'He knew that dating and being physically intimate with his back condition wasn’t possible,' Mr Martin told The Times''
So in practice he was an incel, though not in the way we usually think about that condition.

That sounds a lot more authentic than the hyper sophomoric stuff getting posted off the web.

Authentic meaning what I expect him to say, and in what way.

dbm. According to @MassGuy's response to me below, I misread the document. Thanks, @MassGuy.

Here's a link to his manifesto -

ETA, that one is allegedly fake. Others are linked on Twitter, but will wait for a verified source.

I know nothing about back surgery, is a different procedure besides the hardware (screws) that is more costly that insurance wouldn’t cover?

I doubt LM had any personal health insurance woes. He either would have had good coverage via an employer, been covered by his family’s policy, and I’d bet any copays, (if any), would have been covered by his family for him.

118 lbs?!?!?! Wow, this would seem to indicate profound physical deterioration. If he really is around 6 ft. tall, as reported by witnesses, and with the photos of a very well-chiseled body with big muscles posted on his social media, he would have weighed a lot more than 118 lbs. in his better days, I think. Maybe at least 160? Probably a combination of his physical pain and emotional distress and being on the run caused this. He looks a lot older than 26 in the mug shots.
That’s listed under “parole number,” so I don’t think that’s his weight (just happens to end in LB which is confusing). His height isn’t listed either.
