From the Daily Beast link MassGuy posted (note the confirmed single paragraph 262 word count reference):

The Daily Beast confirmed with law enforcement sources that the manifesto published online largely resembled the one recovered during Mangione’s arrest, but could not verify the exact text because of potential handwriting discrepancies.

Unlike the Unabomber’s 35,000-word manifesto, which a Goodreads account attributed to Mangione positively reviewed in January, the statement reportedly penned by Mangione was incredibly brief—clocking in at 262 words condensed into a single paragraph.

12/10/24

The experience was 'really traumatic and difficult' for him, the roommate said while adding that Mangione sent him X-ray images of his spine. 'It looked heinous, with just giant screws going into his spine,' Martin said.

Mangione suddenly went 'radio silent' while recovering. He sought alternative forms of pain management, including psychedelics and magic mushrooms.

His family was so concerned about him that he was reported missing on Nov 18, according to The New York Post.

ETA: The last case I recall involving magic mushrooms was the off-duty Alaska Airlines Pilot (Joseph Emerson) who tried to take down a flight by activating the fire suppression system to shut down the fuel to the engines, leaving the plane seconds from becoming a glider.

Pilot
Interesting…magic mushrooms?

This case is scary!! It's so difficult to know what info is fake and what is real. Is this the first AI case to make the national stage? I am concerned about what I'm reading, what's being posted and what's real!

Agree. Gotta be careful. Now imagine you are 13, 16, or 26 AND you have to discern what is real or not. The disinformation is terrifying.

Has LM’s work history been posted? I’m of the belief that although he is academically brilliant, there was difficulty acclimating to a workplace environment.

Was his surgery mostly an ‘attention getter’ then??

He was unaware of post operative pain/limitations?
idk that people have major surgery to get attention if that’s what you’re saying. We don’t know that he was struggling with post op. We just know he was struggling with how greedy health insurers are.

I like to understand these guys, as many times you can see acts of violence coming from a mile away. It doesn't just come out of nowhere; there are signs.

This guy is different from every other killer I've ever followed. Incredibly bright, well educated, well off financially, very well liked, seemingly a great family life, and appears to have had a wide circle of friends. Other than that review about the Unabomber, there's really nothing concerning there.

He didn't just lose his temper and kill someone, and he didn't suddenly go crazy and do what killers like that do.

There appears to have been a rapid decline mentally (inference based on concern from family and friends about his whereabouts), but it didn't affect him to the point that he wasn't able to carry out a crime that was unprecedented in its planning and execution.

That confuses the hell out of me, and I have so many questions I want answered.
I agree with your post. I like to understand these guys too. We learn from them, get them to talk. What makes them tick?
Study them, maybe prevent future killings? Killers come from all walks of life.

I have no doubt he would have killed again.

All I am saying is a murderer is a murderer.

Except they weren’t his own words. If you’re talking about that alleged manifesto from yesterday, it’s fake.

Could you please source your belief that this very detailed history written from LM's own firsthand experience and in his own writing style is a fake? I'm quite sure that UHC would bring every resource available to them, *every* resource, to keep this from becoming public and widely circulated.

it’s been reported that he was great at making friends and fairly popular.

I think it’s the denim dye pattern, not that I’m a pee stain splatter expert or anything
Well. It's sure not a denim dye pattern I'd buy if everyone here sees a pee stain. lol

Interesting…magic mushrooms?

At 25 your brain is still plastic, mushrooms, acid, ayahuasca, ketamine are dangerous substances. And, can be even more dangerous if they are laced with other drugs to enhance the experience. It is not surprising me to me that he might have tried any of these substances. Pro-football has some ayahuasca enthusiasts. Ketamine is heralded as a recovery from trauma drug. It is astounding.

It was posted after he was arrested, and removed for “impersonation.”

No reputable outlet has mentioned it, because it’s not real. Unlike the real one, which has been cited since yesterday.

It’s the internet though. Give ChatGPT a prompt with a few details and it’ll create a “manifesto” for you within seconds. The healthcare stories that have come out over the past few days is proof that UHC cannot control what gets out.

Not sure why you received a paywall.

Paraphrase:

LM living in HI
-- Earlier this year, LM disengaged.
-- In Nov. 2024, his mother filed a missing person report in San Francisco, saying she had not spoken to him since July

-- Friends pleaded with him on X to return their messages

-- Nobody has heard from you in months, and apparently your family is looking for you [one person posted on X in October]

-- The mother told LE she last spoke with her son in July, and he told her he worked for TrueCar in its offices (San Francisco)

-- But TrueCar had shuttered its SF office by then

-- The company confirmed that LM has not been an employee of their company since 2023.

  • A friend and former roommate of LM, stated that LM was in debilitating pain due to his spine being misaligned.
His lower vertebrae were almost like a half-inch off, and I think it pinched a nerve.
He was told by LM, he (LM) suffered a back injury and wanted to build strength.
After a basic surf lesson, he was in bed for about a week.
LM needed surgery, which weighed on him.
It prevented him from being intimate.
After six months, he left to see a doctor on the East Coast

The friend hasn’t communicated with LM since August 2023, when he texted him to ask how the back surgery went.

LM sent him X-rays. It looked heinous, with giant screws going into his spine.

LM said he would fill him in in person. Back in HI as soon as I can, need to figure out some spine stuff here first.

-- A few calls to LM between March and June 2024 to check in, went unanswered.

-- In late February, it appears he spent some time in Japan according to a post on X from a Japanese professional poker player, Obara J.

-- LM made comments about Japan’s falling birth rate, saying the country needed to encourage natural human interaction, s.x physical fitness and spirituality

In July, a friend asked him on X if he was going to attend the man’s upcoming wedding
@arielilane
Thanks so much for your post :) laying out these events in such a straightforward manner.
Very helpful.

The problem with spinal fusion is that by fixing the one vertebra to the other, you transfer all the natural movement from that part of the spine to the next vertebra. So, if you have a L5/S1 fusion, eventually L4/L5’s disc tends to fail and so on.

For that reason it is preferred to delay fusion surgery until it’s a last resort. If a patient has bladder or bowel symptoms indicating nerve root pressure on the base of the spinal cord, surgery becomes an emergency - LM knew this and mentions telling doctors about bladder symptoms to sway their recommendations for treatment.
That is accurate from my experience.

Could you provide a source that this manifesto was verified and validated to be written by LM? It doesn’t line up with the manifesto he was found with, and the “modified” timestamp in the metadata is well after he was arrested and sitting in detention.

UnitedHealthcare CEO shooting suspect Luigi Mangione fought extradition to New York in a Pennsylvania court on Tuesday. Before entering the courthouse, he pulled away from authorities and yelled towards reporters. CBS News' Lilia Luciano and Anna Schecter have more on the suspect and the case.

He is unhinged, and has been for a long time. I'm left-handed. Tables are set with the fork on the left, the knife and spoon on the right. If he came from a "wealthy" family, he would know that. If he wanted to make a pathetic childhood complaint, it would be that his mother made him eat soup with the spoon in his right hand.

He's complaining for the sake of portraying himself as a victim ... complaining that aiming his non-dominant hand at his mouth was traumatic.

"The suspected killer of UnitedHealthCare CEO Luigi Mangione claimed his mother made him eat steak with his right hand even though he is left-handed.

Mangione made the claims in his review of the book The Four-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferris, as reported by the Wall Street Journal."

Which hand does he shoot with?

Considering this a little more, I'm not so sure
Again. It’s not real. I have posted the real one.

There’s no evidence his mother has UHC coverage, and the manifesto you’re referring to is fake.
Searched your past posts but couldn't find it. Would you re-post please. All I've read is the fake one. TIA.
