This will be an open and shut case on his murder charges. He wrote his mini manifestos claiming he was against Capitalism and had to make a stand for the 'little guy'. There's CCTV footage of LM at Starbucks grabbing a morning snack (but he hates Capitalism right?) as he waited for Brian Thompson, and a video of the actual shooting.

Confirmed sighting at McDonalds (Capitalism's finest again) and an arrest that resulted in a ton of physical evidence, including the ghost gun recovered from his backpack and food wrappings collected from Starbucks with his fingerprints on it in the trash at the scene.

Even his own Mother said it sounds like "something he could have done" when LE spoke with her.

Luigi Mangione's Mother Told FBI She "Could See Him" Shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO

Mr. Luigi needs to get comfortable in his 10x12 cell. Brian Thompson deserves justice, and not vigilante justice as determined by LM. LM was not the Judge, Jury and Executioner that he appointed himself.

The fact that he has the outrageous gimme money fund, fan boys/girls and a musical coming is the epitome of how screwed up our society has become.

This is coming from someone who worked in the medical field and loathes the business practices of hospitals and the medical insurance industry as much and probably much more than the average person. I've seen it up close and personal. :(

All IMO

Not true according to LE, read the full manifesto at the link:

The full manifesto of Luigi Mangione, who is facing charges for the shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, has been published.

The three-page document was released by independent journalist KK on his blog, and later confirmed to be a legitimate transcription by law enforcement authorities.

EBM: This was in response to your comment of the recorded call claim - I got that and your backpack post mixed up.

I blame the Defense for not setting up a special line that is not open to recording. Jailhouse calls always state they are subject to recording and monitoring before a person accepts one, and if you feel the call should not be recorded a special line can be set up (for lawyers).

<snipped & BBM from your article>

Prosecutors reminded Agnifilo there are ways for attorneys to bypass recorded lines when setting up calls with incarcerated clients and told the judge no further action was needed.

LE / FBI Reward $$$.
the same is true with plenty of witnesses in plenty but they still get named

and they still get the reward money thats owed to them

he may not get the reward im not sure why Here's why the McDonald's employee who reported Luigi Mangione might not get $60K reward

funny this McDonald's employee doesn't seem to have been named

@mrC
@girlhasnoname responded, but I'll throw in more (tedious?) detail. < Editted to clarify sentence.

Dec. 7, "The FBI announced Friday night it was offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction."*

^ That relates to when this reward payment may be made.
After conviction, not just arrest, not just capture.

Who, if anyone, may / will receive (some or all) the reward $ ?
The McD employee? IDK.

Seems likely FBI & other LE agencies received hundreds or thousands of tips, and we don't know who gave other info which may also have led to arrest (and no conviction yet).

A FBI "Policy Directive" ** covers offering & approving monetary rewards to members of the public for advertised solicitations for info leading to arrests & convictions, etc.
It boils down to FBI deciding on a case-by-case basis who to reward under the facts & specific circumstances.

Per FBI's gen. policy directive & per terms of the announced reward in this case, iiuc, no reward payment will be made before trial & conviction.

Why has LE not named the McD employee name?
And as @girlhasnoname explained (TYVM) :
"Probably for personal safety reasons, one of LM's fan boys/girls might be tempted to harass them in some way."

Hope this helps, @mrC.

Regardless of who first spotted & recognised LM as the suspected killer, and who contacted LE, the issue of who, if anyone, gets some or all the FBI reward is an issue which will be resolved by the FBI (possibly another LE agency, I've forgotten details).

While it may be interesting to discuss who saw what & whom & when at McD's that a.m., seems a lot is speculation, based on a few quick interviews some of us have seen or read, without all the relevant details of all those present.

Not gonna be decided by me, other sleuthers or by a People's Choice type Award on the web.

Still, FBI's offer stimulated tips, likely including the one from McD's.
