The brick building behind him is the Hi New York City Hostel at 891 Amsterdam Avenue, which is between 103rd and 104th Streets. It’s a short walk/ride into the northwest corner of Central Park and also close to 9A for access to the GWB. If he really was an international traveller he might have gone to Newark Airport.
That's the hostel I was thinking of!

With crypto and the dark web, payments for hit jobs are untraceable. My guess is that he is a trained assassin from abroad hired specifically for this job. That would explain why people think he is trained with weapons but not in a way they do it in the USA. Hostel also points to someone young from abroad.
I still like my theory that BT was possibly ready to cooperate with DOJ in their investigation into insider trading and fraud at United Healthcare and had to be eliminated. Just a theory...

DBM, didn't know it wasn't a city bike.

The longer that goes by without the release of that purported image of this guy without a mask, the more likely it is they know who he is.

If it’s released they need help. If not, they’re close.

That doesn’t mean both of us can’t be right. He had to be eliminated for some reason and they hired a foreigner to do the job.

The gunman who killed the United Healthcare CEO was on the Upper West Side prior to the shooting, according to multiple reports and surveillance video.A home in the 90s near Columbus Ave has been raided in connection to the shooting, and a hostel on Amsterdam btwn W. 103rd/104.

Wow. Looks like they know who it is.

United Healthcare treated my sick cousin with great cruelty. Fortunately, she survived the numerous denials of care and lack of facility approval. She's not with United anymore. It is easy to imagine a family member angry about the treatment of a parent or close relative. Whether that is the perpetrator's underlying motive is not yet known.

I think he achieved what he planned. The internet is discussing United claim rejection rate and the late CEO's DOJ probe.

Can someone explain City bikes to me? I am assuming there's a GPS feature to them, but I thought you had to use an app/card to pay for one?
Yes and yes. But he didn’t use a Citibike. He was caught on camera carrying what is believed to be an electric bike battery. That makes it probable that he had his own (untraceable) ebike stashed somewhere.

Yeah I realized/read that and edited my post. Thanks for the info.

Exactly, who knows the details of any executives travel plans, accomodations and schedule, a very small amount of people - family, executive assistant and coworkers and that's it. Which leads me to believe this was a personal motive.
He was attending an investor conference. Anyone with one share of the stock would know he was attending (and it was probably public knowledge). Also, accommodations could be easily discovered by a call to corporate posing as someone who was supposed to deliver something to his hotel.

and you don't need a credit card to check in. And foreigners use hostels. Something tells me he is not American and he has already left the country. He worked very fast, speed was the key. He knew about the cameras and didn't care bc he could get to the airports before 8 am
Seems very possible. Also the message on the bullet may be a red herring to divert attention to domestic protest groups.

This looks like a professional hit, not an angry activist. JMO

But they wouldn't know where he was staying or if he was spending the night the evening before or flying in that morning, and what time he would be arriving at the conference. I know a handful of executives who fly on their corporate jets. Noone but their immediate family or coworkers know their schedules.

At the very least he’d be in New Jersey very quickly by car.
this is also my theory, plus he looks Russian or Eastern European/former Yugoslavia. He didn't care about the cameras bc he was over an ocean by noon

Police have so far captured one usable image of suspect without a mask, law enforcement sources say

From CNN's John Miller and Brynn Gingras
Law enforcement sources have revealed that police have found one usable image of the suspect who shot United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson on Thursday.

Multiple law enforcement sources told CNN the shooter appeared to wear a mask most of the time that he was staying at the hostel on 103rd and Amsterdam Avenue in Manhattan.

But, they have so far captured just one usable image where he isn’t wearing a mask there.

The shooter stayed in a multi-person room with two other males, one law enforcement source said.

Descriptions of the conference seem to portray it as a conference for institutional investors, not stockholders. Stockholders wouldn't necessarily know about the conference, or be invited. The notification and invitees have not yet been clearly described in press releases.

ding ding ding. I think this is personal. I'm not sure what hotel BT stayed at but his family or personal secretary would..I know there is a marriottt up the block, which would make sense that he entered the Hilton, walking eastbound on 54th st. I assume there was an accomplice at his hotel, letting the gunman know when he left etc

Re: "defend, depose, and deny"

Only my opinion: it is possible LE know who the shooter is because its interesting they would [so early in an investigation] release information known only by the shooter.

@BrianEntin

Three bullets at the scene of the murdered UnitedHealthcare CEO had the words “defend,” “depose,” and “deny” on them.
