Any speech etc is ON his phone. No need to carry anything these days. Read it from your phone.
That's not how it would work for a company the size of UHC. The slide deck was done well in advance and he had reviewed it and rehearsed. They may even have a teleprompter depending on what type of presentation he was giving.

I have the opposite impression. Looks like a power move to me.

His know-how is in his brain and he shows that in his demeanor. All he needs is himself.

However, would be good to know if he normally carries a briefcase.

and where was his coat? come on. It was in the 20s with the wind at that time

where is his overcoat? it was very cold and windy yesterday in NYC, especially that early. He doesn't look like a CEO arriving like that IMO.
I think he looks very much like a CEO from the short bit we've seen on video - nothing seems incongruent to me, though the blue color is a bit vibrant. But perhaps he wanted to be seen easily, like the queen would wear a bright color.

Whatever our impressions, he WAS the CEO on his way to a conference. That is not in question.

I'm not questioning that, but no briefcase and no overcoat on a freezing day is kind of odd

Earlier post on this thread by @MassGuy, quoting John Miller of CNN... Post #486 on this thread, "CEO coming out of divorce." If it is correct and I understood it correctly... I haven't seen anything else on this since.

Seems they’ve been separated for a few years, live in separate houses.

No mention of divorce, perhaps content with status quo.

Brian Thompson's marriage secret revealed

Thompson was separated from his wife when he was shot dead outside Manhattan's Hilton Hotel on Wednesday morning, it has been revealed.
The father-of-two, 50, was estranged from wife Paulette and the couple had been living in separate homes less than a mile apart in Maple Grove, Minnesota, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Thompson purchased the $1million home near his family home in 2018, according to public records, with neighbors telling the Journal that he spent much of his time traveling.

A bit like splitting hairs, maybe, however ---Went to the WSJ link which I've linked above ; and all due respect to the Daily Mail-- but nowhere in the WSJ article does it say that they were separated ?
If you're going to quote sources, DM-- take time to ensure you have the correct ones.
Here are some links with correct information :

He certainly could be out of the country by now. I understand that he stayed in a hostel that overseas visitors often stay at, but I'm surprised people are saying that he seems foreign by his looks. NYC is wildly diverse -- no one talks about people looking "foreign". JMO.
Lifelong New Yorker here, born in Manhattan and have never left the city.

I agree 1000% that typically we don’t say “foreign.” As you know, within ten feet we will hear people speaking in Chinese, Russian, Urdu, Hebrew, Italian, Haitian Creole etc. and that is just how NYC should be.

Just in a specific case like this, where yesterday we saw a partial facial pic, I think it’s fair enough to scrutinize anything we can. Studying the face the way we are studying the backpack et al.

Yesterday in the partial face pic I thought he looked Eastern European. In the darker full face pic today, I still see that but I see a tinge of middle eastern, perhaps.

In the colorful full face pic, I do now see possible Mediterranean.

Just as an identifier like any other detail we are trying to use to ascertain identity.

Ok, so someone please tell me why the CEO of a company heading to an investors conference, isn't waling into the Hilton with a briefcase. That is just weird. Which begs the question, did someone steal his laptop and phone? One could make the case that a man making 10 million a year, which is what his compensation was, that there could be scenarios where someone, perhaps a lover etc, was extorting him and/or scamming him. They would have to get rid of him and his devices if let's say, BT was about to to the FBI. Or, the perp found out the jig was about to be up. I can't get past the part where the CEO is walking in without ANYTHING
Point taken, but CEOs have "people." Doubt a young CEO like Thompson would have shuffled papers to make his remarks. The technology for the presentation was probably already at the hotel and an underling was setting it up.

no divorce because he didn’t want to lose half his net worth? I wonder how she felt about that. Can’t get remarried and can’t get the money either (other than whatever crumbs he was throwing her way for expenses). Maybe he was ok with the status quo and get no strings attached relationships with others and keep his money. But was it really the best deal for her?

I am guessing that anything he needed for any presentation he was giving would be in the hands of an assistant that would meet him there. He knows what he is going to talk about, so he doesn't need to be carrying anything. He probably had a laptop that he left in his room, his assistnat would have what he needed at the Hilton.
From what I've experienced, if the company rents a large room for a conference they will also rent a couple of smaller gathering rooms that are secured with card access. This is so the higher ups (not everyone) can gather before the main event. We call them huddle rooms. They can leave laptops, coats, luggage, or just about anything in these secured rooms. Edit to add last sentence.
